They run the White House like a corrupt, incompetent small town hall.

He does not give a damn about any traditional norms, either diplomatic, administrative, or societal. Presidential public statements used to be "issued" and went on record as an official document. Now, we rely on verbal press statements, tweets, rumor, leaks and off-the-cuff shit that someone hears in passing.

Our executive branch has diminished into a carnival side show.

vlyons, anytime I'm baffled by tRump's behavior, I go to...

Wikipedia's page on psychopathy. Reading it is almost like reading a mental biography on him. I'm convinced we've elected a very sick man to lead our country and need to push for his removal by all reasonable means.

In addition to the characteristics of a psychopath, he also appears to be plagued by other disorders, described by this excerpt from the Wiki:
(snip)
Psychopathy, narcissism and Machiavellianism, three personality traits that are together referred to as the dark triad, share certain characteristics, such as a callous-manipulative interpersonal style.
-----------

I believe what you're calling lack of syntony or harmony the field of psychology might call anti-social behavior. He seems to exist in a bubble occupied only by himself.

Thank you for caring about this young woman.

I know your compassion for her gives her strength. I can't believe we would deport any youth with this degree of aspiration for success. Perhaps she could pick up some part-time work at the college. I went through college on a work-study program that paid my tuition fees because my folks couldn't afford it.

Teachers may be our savior in this country and I'm very proud of my daughter who teaches 5th grade reading classes in a public school. She has to buy a lot of materials each year for her classes out of her own pocket, which is shameful for the USA.

Stuart, I don't believe he writes the tweets.

I've always felt some of his minions research and write them, and he just gives them a nod. I think most of the sentences are too coherent for his grammar skill levels....and still, many are pretty bad.

The disgrace - the whole world knows.

BBC headline: Trump was insensitive in call to widow - soldier's mother

See: http://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-41673380

(snip)
The mother of a US soldier who was killed in action has backed a congresswoman's claim that President Donald Trump showed insensitivity during a phone call to her son's widow.

No mention on their web site.

Thanks for posting that update, Rhiannon. Could not find any reference to the incident on LLOG's web site at http://llog.com/. May be a typical reaction, like of most of our industries when accidents, chemical releases and spills happen: "nothing to see here".

All of these chemical releases are bad for our ecosystems and the public has become numb to them (just like our current political disasters).

At least one outlet did - but it's in the UK.

The Guardian in the UK tracked all his lies during the campaign and in fact published an article every week called "The lies Trump told this week" listing the lies and showed proof that the statements were either a lie or serious deception.

Here's an example: https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2016/oct/07/donald-trump-lies-this-week-taxes-bankruptcy

If you type the words "Trump lies" in their search window, you can still read all of them.

I think US outlets were 1.) afraid of him and his bank of lawyers, and 2.) wanted to use the sensationalism from covering him to gain ratings, and/or 3.) the media owners were Republican. It was just a game to them.

White American educated non-Muslim male.

Member of our privileged class - to our police, in the courts, in our society and to the MSM.

Exactly - well said!

I've thought much about how we might reverse this plague on our society but with no easy answers. Even if one could shut down Faux News and hate radio tomorrow, it would take a generation to moderate-out the hate and disinformation.

The only idea that keeps resonating is bettering our education system, and therefore improving average citizen's rationality and independent thirst for truth.

Unfortunately, the billionaire class prefers us to be dumb, delusioned, and filled with fear.

Procon, your question makes me think of...

some Southern paper mill towns I've worked in, as well as most coal mining towns. The company owned the whole damn town in the old days, and in fact built many of them. Reminds me of the song "Sixteen Tons".

I fear that's where we're headed as a result of globalization, rampant consumerism, and unfettered capitalism that is designed for all capital to flow upward, and we get a little trickle-down. It's already happening around the globe with billionaires buying up vast amounts of property to rent.

This is the world-wide race to the bottom. The day could come when humans sell their entire life to a corporation, just to survive.
