Excerpt

Newly revealed court documents again show that Donald Trump lied outright when he claimed not to know of a $130,000 hush money payment to adult film actress Stormy Daniels, with whom Trump is accused of having had an affair while Melania was home with the young Barron, to buy her silence during the final month of the 2016 presidential campaign.

Impeachment, are we there yet? "Trump's new asylum rule violates international

...law. experts say."

Excerpt

"We have been expecting something along these lines for some time now,” Lee Gelernt, deputy director of the Immigrants’ Rights Project at the ACLU, tells TIME. “We believe that the rule is an end run around the asylum laws Congress has passed and should be invalidated as inconsistent with the immigration statute.”

Harris has IT. Obama has IT, HCinton has IT..what is IT?

...IT is--Intellectual Sophistication. The Augustana Learning Outcomes define three aspects of Intellectual Sophistication:

Disciplinary Knowledge Understand: Demonstrate an extended knowledge of at least one specific discipline and its interdisciplinary connections to the liberal arts, reflected in the ability to address issues or challenges and contribute to the field.

Critical Thinking and Information Literacy Analyze: Critique and construct arguments. This requires the ability to raise vital questions, formulate well-defined problems, recognize underlying assumptions, gather evidence in an efficient, ethical and legal manner, suspend judgment while gathering evidence, evaluate the integrity and utility of potential evidence, critique and incorporate other plausible perspectives, and determine a reasonable conclusion based upon the available evidence.

Quantitative Literacy Interpret: Interpret, represent and summarize information in a variety of modes (symbolic, graphical, numerical and verbal) presented in mathematical and statistical models; use mathematical and statistical methods to solve problems, and recognize the limitations of these methods. Subpages (3): Critical Thinking and Information Literacy Disciplinary Knowledge Quantitative Literacy

Finally--some movement on impeachment...or maybe not!

...80 members so far have called for impeachment--only 80? Need 218! Where's the urgency? [Note: House Democrats hold a total seats to 235, with Republicans occupying 199 seats]

Excerpt [Jul 15, 2019; Joan McCarter/dailykos]
"The president of the United States is a racist, a bigot, a misogynist, as well as an invidious prevaricator," the ever-eloquent Green said in announcing he'd force this vote. "To say that Donald John Trump is unfit for the office of the president of the United States is an understatement." [Rep.Al Green]

Green forced votes on articles of impeachment twice previously, when the House was under Republican control in 2017 and 2018. Green got about 60 colleagues for both of those votes, and seeing how many he garners this time will be a good temperature-taker for the House Democratic caucus. As of now, there are around 80 members who have called for impeachment. That could change following his direct, racist attacks on four of their own. That said, 218 is still going to be a reach and Pelosi, who is trying to get a budget and debt..ceiling package through before they leave on August recess, is going to resist hard.
