Heartstrings
Heartstrings's JournalDear Republicans,
Somewhere in America.....
a teenage girl is listening to her parents defend Brett Kavanaugh, and she is thinking to herself, "if something like that happened to me, I have nowhere to go".
Somewhere in America a teenage boy is listening as well, getting the message that its ok, no one will listen to her anyway.

Robert Reich weighs in on the SCOTUS debacle.....
"Each of the 4 Republican appointees to the Supreme Court have clouds of illegitimacy hanging over them:
1. Clarence Thomas: Not only Anita Hills highly-credible allegations of sexual harassment, but also Thomass repeatedly lies to the Senate Judiciary Committee about his views for example, saying he had no opinions on the constitutional rights to contraception and abortion even though he had written four different articles saying that Roe v. Wade and Griswold v. Connecticut were wrongly decided.
2. John Roberts: He participated in the decision Bush v. Gore, the first and only time in American history when the Supreme Court determined the outcome of a presidential election. Yet Roberts had been appointed by George W. Bush -- raising ongoing questions about his political neutrality in that case and in future ones.
3. Samuel Alito: Ditto.
4. Neil Gorsuch: He became a Supreme Court Justice because Senate Republicans refused to hold hearings or a vote on Merrick Garland for 293 days, the longest pending Supreme Court nomination in American history. No one questioned Garlands qualifications or even that he was a moderate. Never before had Senators held no hearing and no vote on a nominee because they hoped that their party would gain control of the presidency in the coming election.
If Kavanaugh gets on the Court, the majority of the Court will bear the tarnish of partisan illegitimacy, dividing America even further.
Your thoughts?"

Black man is killed vs White man raping
Men and women are asked "what do you do to prevent sexual assault?"....the answer(s) are startling!

GOTV!!!!!
Today's Top Ten Tactics in the Republican Playbook:
1. Painting the accused as the victim
(Gaslighting 101)
2. Claiming that if you know women you haven't assaulted, you must not have ever assaulted women
(What?)
3. Positioning the reputation of the accused as far more important than the suffering of the survivor
(Women should shut up or they might ruin the reputation of their attacker, who has so many more rungs in his career to climb! Um, ok?)
3. Shaming survivors
(Watch what the Senators said on Fox News.)
4. Using survivors fear of coming forward as evidence they are a pawn or puppet in a political conspiracy
(Undermining and inexcusable)
5. Conflating speaking up with a lack of civility
(Adept gaslighting tactic, but America is catching on)
6. Hiding behind love of God as a shield from any accusation
(Beyond shameful)
7. Using your daughter as proof you're a good guy
(See #2)
8. Throwing a tantrum, or tantrums
(Thanks for being such great role model for our sons Judge Kavanaugh. Thankfully, my 15 year old son thought your behavior was embarrassing and "really immature". Smart kid. He also thinks someone who is clearly lying would never get confirmed to the highest court in the land. Perhaps a bit naive.)
9. Interrupting Democratic Senators, especially women. (When people show you who they are, as Dr. Angelou said, believe them. We believe you, Judge. You don't respect women. No need to hit us over the head with it.)
10. Back to #1. Rinse. Repeat.
(The best marketing is putting out the truth, vigorously. This nefarious and disingenuous house of cards is crumbling.)
And with that, I'm stepping away from this outrageous display of privilege run amok and going back to my job, which at the moment includes volunteering and aiding my local candidates run for office. Major canvass tomorrow.....
November is coming.
