gibraltar72's JournalLatest Hillsdale College outrage has me in a high state of pissification this morning.
A little background Hillsdale College has been at the forefront of the Covid deniers and scofflaws who denied Governor Whitmers’ orders. They went so far as to bankroll a restaurant that stayed open after health department ordered them closed even after license was pulled. They also as late as November were pushing the crime against humanity aka herd immunity. They have encouraged employees and students to do whatever they want, feel free to go about the town unmasked and just deny it is a problem.
Our local hospital originally announced that we would have to wait for the Moderna vaccine as they had no way to store the Phizer. Suddenly the college volunteered their super cold freezer in their science department. The health department issued their guidelines for ranking how the vaccine would be allotted of course the frontline workers would be first, the common ranking of need. Both my wife and I were on that list but we knew there were others that should be taken care of first.
Mondays are the day that is designated as the day to apply for a slot to get vaccine. Health Department had given 9:00 AM as the time the appointment lines would go live. They suggested getting on page early and refreshing often to be ready when the links went live. At around 9:03 I got through and selected a time. They then had me fill out my personal info. I did that promptly and hit submit. Got a message that slots were all filled. What was supposed to be 500 doses were gone in 5 minutes.
I went to health department website and whipped off an e mail complaining about the hunger games nature of their policy. I suggested people preregister and be notified when there was an opening. I said the person with fastest internet service should not have an advantage and that was definitely not me. I also said that after living here for 70 years I was pretty sure I knew what was happening.
Imagine my surprise when I went to my local FB page where some one had asked if anyone had heard about college vaccinating people not on the list as eligible. Someone immediately dropped a link to a national publication that said hospital got more vaccine than expected because college had storage. They also said that the hospital allowed college to cut the line and get their employees vaccinated even though they weren’t on approved list. I am beyond pissed, most of those people refused to wear masks or social distance. A doctor of mine referred to the college as uncaring and unchecked. This is a case of white college privilege.

Curiously on Martin Luther King Junior day Trumps 1776 committee chose to release their report. This was a project manned by some of the greatest 17th century minds. A blatant attempt to counter the 1619 project which is in fact a more accurate assessment of Americas history.
The head architect of this screed was the President of Hillsdale College. No small college in America has a more lucrative scam going than Hillsdale does. They tell people no one is more important than the individual. They have used their libertarian stance to raise millions from wealthy institutions and individuals. They celebrate capitalism, war criminals, employ drunk dialing wives of degenerate Supreme Court Justices.
They corrupt local law enforcement and politics to serve their own ends. I have observed Hillsdale College since a boy delivering papers on the hill. I formed my opinion of their hypocrisy at around the age of eleven. Nothing I have ever seen since has indicated my first presumptions were wrong. I could cite many examples. From the George Roche scandals and even before that. Recent examples are many including getting the local airport to construct a parking ramp for Pat Sajaks' private jet at a cost of over 1 million dollars. He is a board member.
Recently they defied Governors orders regarding Coronavirus. There is no doubt they contributed to making our small rural county the worst in the state for Coronavirus by encouraging people on campus and off to defy restrictions on Coronavirus, Going so far as to furnish a lawyer for a restaurant that remained open to the point health department pulled their license mid December. To this day they are open and serving the maskless.
These are just a few ways Hillsdale College has helped make my county a conservative hell hole. I have many more examples. I am sure this will be another huge money maker for them. After all that is what is important. I remember well what two long time professors told me shortly after current college president was named. They said this guy scares me, George just wanted to be famous and raise money. The new guy is a real Nazi type.
Just got a pleasant surprise in the mail. An election bet I had written off
was paid today. A very old friend who now lives in Floriduh had said he wanted to bet Trump would be reelected. This was in response to my FB page where I challenged Trump supporters to wager. Lots of talk but when I narrowed it down to actually paying if they lost no one was willing to have a third party hold the money. Anyhow I was sure this guy would pay. About three weeks before election he went radio silent. Never heard a peep. Before the election his son who lives a few miles from me said his dad was up here before election and he said to him just go pay him now.
Not one word about it on FB or otherwise. Today a check dated 1 6 21 arrives in the mail. I was right twice, he would pay and Biden won. I of course would have sent him a check on 11 4 20 if it went the other way. I had written it off and even said I'd send the money I was prepared to pay, to my local food bank which I did. Pleasant surprise!
I would really love it if Beschloss or other noted historian
whipped up a book on history 20 and 40 years in the future. A look at how historians will look at the last 2 months. Perhaps if people saw how they will be portrayed in 2041 and 2061, What their grandkids will read about them. What their legacy will be. Some might choose to do the right thing. Not a traditional book thing just throw something together in a few days. A glimpse of the future.

Today reminded me how gently capitol police
handled disabled protesters who just wanted to talk to Mitch. This was perfect commercial for defund the police.
Grim milestones today. 20 million cases.
A few ragged breaths from 350,000 deaths. That will be reached in the next few minutes.
Recipe to be the worst county in your state regards Coronavirus.
Start with a Republican in every elected position in the county. Mix in the willingness to witness every lie the leader thus the party spews. Add a Mayor and city council that defies lawful orders of the governor and the health department, encourages noncompliance by businesses, embraces unsafe behaviors and holds public council meetings unmasked.
Throw in encouraging the local chapter of the Sons Of McVeigh to invade the state capitol while heavily armed. Hold a 4th of July parade in defiance of health department orders. Celebrate businesses that defy orders and stay open. Add a Mayor who attends a "super spreader" event and willfully spreads every conspiracy theory.
Now add in the influence of a college whose fundraising is dependent on convincing that government is bad. A school that stashed infected students in several locations in county and actually pushed the herd immunity theory as a solution. Not a huge stretch for a school that celebrates war criminal alumni, knows how to deal with an inconvenient woman and corrupts law enforcement. Also teaches that no one is more important than you.
Top this off with a few officials who believe in the science but afraid to rile their ignorant base. If you follow this recipe very carefully your little county can be statistically the worst in your state. I probably missed a few ingredients that went in to this toxic stew, but I think the major ones are there.
My observation over last few days V.A. not reporting cases or deaths.
