Windows 11 Thunderbird and Yahoo mail issue

It's me again. Every time I get new hardware I suddenly remember why I resist getting new hardware. 99% of the time it is a terrible time sink.

I am trying to set up Yahoo mail to work with Thunderbird. My Gmail and Outlook addresses set up just fine, but Thunderbird doesn't find Yahoo automatically. I've Googled everything I could about setting it up manually, but not only does nothing work, at least not yet, a lot of the stuff I search refers to settings that aren't even there, both in Yahoo and in Thunderbird.

This is not critical, I guess. I just like being able to download all my mail and have it locally. Since I am replacing an old computer, if I still want to have everything locally I need to figure out how to access everything through Thunderbird on the new computer.

Thanks in advance. This is very much the most frustrating thing I've tried to do on the new computer so far.

Windows 11 network drive issue.

Any ideas greatly appreciated.

I have a Western Digital My Cloud Drive on my Wi-Fi network. It is strictly local; I have never set up remote access and don't intend to. It does not require a username or password to access it, just a connection to my Wi-Fi network. It works fine on my Windows 7 computer, my Android phone, and my Asus tablet.

The new Windows 11 computer sees it just fine, and sees all the shared folders. What it does not do is let me look at any files. There are four folders, but only one has anything in it. The ones that don't have anything in them show me as an admin and full access. The one that actually has stuff in it has the admin and full access bar greyed out. Additionally, it will not let me access it through Windows Explorer or another file manager, as I can on the other devices. When I click on the drive, it takes me to a web page, which is not what I want at all.

So I guess I basically have two questions. How do I see my files at all, in whatever way I have to? Ideally, how do I see my files in the file manager, as I can on all the other devices?

Thanks in advance. I have searched quite a bit, so far to no avail.

Can you tell me your experience with cataract surgery?

I can't really drive at night anymore, and I was just going to haul off and have it done until my ophthalmologist said it had a 90% success rate. I said 90%!! You mean there's a 10% chance of something going wrong?? And I've been thinking about it rather than having it done ever since.

Has anyone here had anything go wrong? Was it correctable? Did your insurance pay for the correction?

Also, I only need the eye in question corrected for distance vision, because I have had natural monocular vision all my life and use one eye for driving and one eye for reading. However, my opthamologist said I would have to wear glasses for driving if I got the regular lens rather than toric, which makes no sense to me since my vision is between 20/30 and 20/40 and I've been allowed to drive without glasses my entire life. I do have a little astigmatism, but not enough to have to have glasses to drive with my natural lens. I also worry that the toric lens probably has to be more precisely placed, which leaves an opening for issues with that. And it costs money out of pocket, of course. I really don't understand why the insurance won't pay for it if you have astigmatism, but it won't.

I'm going to ask my opthamologist these questions, plus more, but I would like to hear your thoughts from the patient's perspective.

Thank you in advance.

I am annoyed but not surprised

That the ban on a wealth tax was passed.

Now that it has been, I wish some enterprising soul would fight property taxes on the grounds that they are a wealth tax. Not that I don't believe in property taxes; I just would find that amusing and perhaps edifying.

Problem logging on to small older iPad

I do not even remember why I bought this thing and now I want to give it to a thrift shop. But I want to make sure nothing of mine is on it. I'm pretty sure it would have at least my Wi-Fi connection information and some kind of apple login thingy.

Trouble is I can't unlock it. It has a Bluetooth keyboard, and I can't manage to unlock just the tablet. It says press home key to unlock. Well I don't know what key on the keypad is considered home, and I don't think it's even connecting to the keypad.

Can anyone help me with either unlocking without connecting to the keyboard, my preference, or getting it to connect to the keyboard and knowing which key it is talking about?

If I can't figure this out, I guess my only other option is to take a sledgehammer to it. I have never liked Apple products, leading of course to the burning question why did I buy it, which I have absolutely no recollection of why, but I still don't really want to take a hammer to the cute little thing.

TIA

Question regarding PACT Act, sort of

So, according to the PACT Act, my low (nonexistent) thyroid and high blood pressure are presumed to be service related. Even though no one would call me disabled in any usual sense, my stepson, who *is* on disability, says I should apply anyway because even if they deem me 0% disabled they would still pay for my meds for those conditions. Okay, sounds reasonable.

Then I got to thinking whether dealing with the VA for those particular conditions, which are really the only things that are seriously wrong with me, knock on wood, might mess up my regular medical and prescription coverage in some way. I have Medicare and Tricare for Life, so I'm really fortunate with my current coverage and don't want to do anything that might have an adverse impact on that.

TIA.

I just got a letter from the VA.

I'm not under any kind of care from them, Medicare and Tricare do just fine, but apparently I was potentially exposed to something or another on Guam. Oh wait a minute, Agent Orange it says. The letter says if you're under VA care you should get a screening, but I am not under VA care. Does anybody happen to know what you should do if you are not under VA care? You'd think the letter would have said, since it went to at least one person who is not under VA care, namely me.

If your modem / router starts losing signal strength

Does that mean it's getting ready to die?

Weird thing happened on Galaxy A51 Android.

I did a virus scan immediately after the weird thing and it says everything's fine, but it was weird and I wish I could be sure everything's fine and I'd like to know what the heck caused it. Maybe this has happened to somebody else?

I saw a notification that said something along the lines of play Royal Match, which was odd because I have almost all notifications turned off. I thought it might be from the latest game I installed, seeing as how they are so incestuous with promoting each other, and I looked at that one intending to turn off notifications, but it said no permissions given or required.

Then I foolishly clicked on it and some website or something that I foolishly forgot the name of opened. I closed immediately, of course. However, it was too late. From my point of view anyway. The notification area started showing a download, which I tried to cancel but it wouldn't, and then it said installing. Oh great, I thought.

While it was supposedly installing, I deleted the Royal Match that was already installed, and it did not show up again. Since the notification was showing it as a download, I looked for something that might have shown up in downloads and new files, but there was nothing new since several days ago.

I checked apps to see if Royal Match had shown up again, or if anything new had shown up. Nothing.

So, anyway, I ran a scan with Bit Defender which said everything was fine. Being paranoid, I'm going to download some other security apps and run them.

If anything like this has ever happened to you, or if you've heard about a thing like this and have an idea as to what the heck it is and how worried I should be, I would appreciate any information or speculation..

Question regarding home gyms.

I'm considering buying a strength training one to save the time going back and forth to the gym, having discovered that there are some things I will do at home, like Zoom classes with a good instructor, and I think doing strength training with a machine may be another thing that I might be able to bring myself to do at home. (I already know cardio equipment at home is a no-go - I just won't use it. Won't use individual strength training equipment either, except with a live class, but I think I might use a machine.)

From the research I've done so far, Bowflex doesn't look like a good idea. So it's between one with a weight stack and Total Gym. I'm interested in opinions, if you would be so kind, as to which one someone who will go through the machines on the 30 minute circuit at the gym would be most likely to use, and which one is the easiest to switch between exercises, as convenience is another thing that might cause me to be more likely to use it.

Any recommendations on brands and models also appreciated. I'm hoping to keep it in the hundreds rather than the thousands as far as cost, since I think I would use it but cannot be sure until the thing is sitting there.

TIA
