Now I haz 3 kitteh generations stayin' alive in my damp rose bed hiding from the AZ heat (with pic)

From left to right (or bottom to top)

Blue (Mama's boy from last season)

Mama (Grandmama now I guess)

The erstwhile Three's kiddo, new this season, think it may be orphaned as I've not seen Three in months, but Three was the third of Mama's litter from last season, and pretty sure she threw a litter earlier this season. Think Mama is watching out for her grandchild.

Brave (Mama's boy/girl from last season ... not sure Brave's gender but I call her a her).

Carl Sagan addressing Congress (including Al Gore) in 1985 about Climate Change/Greenhouse Effect

It's wonderful and worth watching if you've never seen it.

He barely checks his notes the whole time until he give his powerful summation at the end which he'd obviously prepared, talking about the need for global unity on this pressing matter.

At a minimum probably will make you long for the days when Congressional Hearings were this august. No shit-flinging monkey repuQ interrupts the man the entire 16+ minutes.

Enjoy!

So I have multiple generations of kittehs taking shelter in my yard outside from the PHX heatwave

I put out kibble and food for them, and the sprinklers run early AM and there's a spot next to my house under the rose bushes that stays damp and shady all day, so they're starting to gather there.

In fact the last two days MAMA has been here (the mom of the tabby babies from last season I posted pics of, Brave, Blue and Three lots of times) who I'd not seen in MONTHS til yesterday, was very happy to see her and she seems okay 😺

Anyways, just now I look out the window and there's two DOVES eating their damn kibble. I'm like WTH birds, that's CHICKEN you cannibals!!!

LOL.

But really funny was the fact that there were FOUR (4) cats laying around within 10 feet of these birds eating their food, and they're just like ... whatever, you birds are welcome to our limited supply, we're cool like that.

It's one thing to feed cats, but I really don't mean to be feeding wild birds as well. Esp. not chicken!

I'm like you cats are broken, man, what's up, chase them away, at least?

Apparently it's just too damn hot to cat right now.

*NSFW* Friend just came back from Prague, they make some interesting Kettle Chips over there *NSFW*

I'm just glad they're limited to 18 and over, that's important with something like this

Doyle Bramhall Jr, Charlie Sexton, Double Trouble (Layton/Shannon) aka ArcAngels - Sent By Angels

From back in the day ... Bought it when it came out, saw them at Slims in SF on this tour, and I still listen to this album. Tons of great tracks on it (titled simply ArcAngels).

Much underappreciated IMHO.

Bonus track ... live on Letterman

I hadn't seen the kittens from last year in MONTHS (Blue and Brave)

After putting it off until a few days ago, I finally started running my sprinkler system here in AZ. Had been TRYING not to because of the drought but like my yard is dying.

Anyways, there's a spot in my backyard (the rose bed) that's always in the shade, and gets good and wet from the sprinklers every day, and I came out this AM and two of my homies that I was feeding last year when they were kittens, Blue and Brave, were just chilling, laying on the wet dirt, in the shade. Outta nowhere, probably been 6 months since I've seen either baby.

It's been so hot here for so long, figure they're just looking for anywhere a little cooler, so they came back to my yard where they sorta grew up.

Of course I've fed 'em and put out a water bowl. Poor Blue looks VERY skinny, but when I put out wet food earlier, Brave just let Blue eat. Brave looks to be in better shape. I was like ... awwww, good girl (I think Brave is a girl, for sure Blue is a boy, I've seen his junk)

I feel so bad them being stuck out there in this heat so I'm doing what I can

Blue from last November:

Brave standing tall with Blue eating and their sibling Three to the right. Pretty sure Three is a mama now, haven't seen her in a while but I think I saw her kittens. I'd seen Three pretty plump not too long before, and these kittens were also tabbies. Hope she's and her little ones are okay.

As far as Mama goes (their mom) ... haven't seen her in probably 4 months. Wish she'd come round so I knew she's okay.

jason isbell - this ain't it (live from my cell phone, last night at the marquee, tempe, az)

The sound mix was really much better than this (vocals were NOT muffled), the phone seems to beam the mike in with the zoom, so it doesn't really capture the full sound, but ... the guitar duel sounds just fine.

Enjoy, make sure you watch the end for all the Jason love at the end of show from the packed house (this was the final song of the night).

Anyone else ever ordered online from Organic Bread of Heaven (Gary, Indiana)?

Decided to try 'em out since I'm a sourdough fan and these folks do it right (ostensibly) with no yeast, all organic everything, etc.

I ordered on Sunday afternoon and it just got here from Indiana to Mesa, AZ.

Just tried my first item, a bagel. Pretty dang fresh, almost like I got it from the bakery.

Sourness is a bit less than good SF sourdough, but what's there 'tastes right', just not very intense. Be PERFECT for like a bagel lunch sandwich with some turkey and cheese and such.

They claim they bake it fresh 'for you' ... a claim I doubt somewhat but based on the bagel alone ... I might even believe it

deer tick - the real thing (live in studio-2023) they closed their set with this last night

Deer Tick opened for Jason Isbell & the 400 Unit in Tempe last night (which I was at), this sounded SO GOOD live. It's a really hypnotic tune. They rocked out the ending section way more than they do in this video, and believe me these guys can put it down.
