GOP Introduces Perhaps Most Absurd Pro-Gun Law Yet

The GOP has just risen to a whole new level of crazy. Last week, it introduced the Duncan-Carter Hearing Protection Act of 2017, sponsored by Rep. Jeff Duncan (R-SC) and Rep. John Carter (R-TX). The bill removes gun silencers from the scope of the National Firearms Act of 1934, and refunds the $200 transfer tax to applicants who purchased them after October 22, 2015.

Yes, we’re talking about gun silencers, or “suppressors” as they are euphemistically known in the industry. You know – those things that assassins snap on the ends of their pistols in action movies to look all slick and cold-blooded. Apparently, the logic is that the world would be a much safer place if silencers were more readily available to the average consumer. Sure.

Priebus to Obama: Step up and quiet Democrats who question Trumps legitimacy

Seriously, who are these people? Do they think the country does not remember how they treated President Obama from Day 1? This is what they do every time a Dem wins the Presidency or even when a Dem like Reid is in charge of the Senate or House. They fight them, challenge their authority & legitimacy.

Now, they are asking everyone to forget how they act, what they do & just fall in line & let them do whatever they please.

I realize the Dems have shown weakness before & I am just hoping they will refuse to go along with all this crap this time around. It is time to fight them & at least get things turned around if they are going to remain a strong & viable political party.

A top aide to President-elect Donald Trump urged President Obama on Sunday to tell fellow Democrats to stop questioning Trump’s legitimacy — and rejected comparisons to Trump’s own well-publicized doubts about Obama’s eligibility to serve.

The remarks from incoming White House Chief of Staff Reince Priebus came after a prominent lawmaker and civil rights activist, Rep. John Lewis (D-Ga.), said Trump was not a “legitimate president” and more than a dozen fellow Democratic lawmakers announced that they would not attend Trump’s inauguration.

Speaking on ABC’s “This Week,” Priebus acknowledged Lewis’s “historic contribution to civil rights and voting rights” but said his doubts about Trump’s legitimacy are “insanity” and “incredibly disappointing.”

“I think President Obama should step up,” he said, praising the cooperation from the White House on other transition issues. “I think the administration can do a lot of good by telling folks that are on the Republican side of the aisle: Look, we may have lost the election on the Democratic side, but it’s time to come together.”

Vice President-elect Mike Pence separately criticized Lewis on Sunday for questioning Trump’s legitimacy in interviews on Fox and CBS, calling his remarks “deeply disappointing.” He also defended Trump’s recent tweets attacking Lewis, saying Trump “has the right to defend himself.”

Manchin slamming Obama & Praising Trump on Soledad Obrien show

Said for one, he has seen more of Trump since he has been elected than Obama in his entire 8 years. Trump at least reaches out.

Talking up Trump on everything.

Here is one of the things Republicans are saying about Manchin:

"Manchin is probably one of the best political actors on the national stage, maybe even better than President Bill Clinton. From the sets of CNN to the sound stage of Morning Joe, Manchin has the national press convinced that he is a conservative Democrat. They believe Manchin is a man who is not afraid to go against the Democrat leadership in the U.S. Senate and cross the aisle to work with Republicans. He was the co-chair of the independent No Labels group until today. Just a little nudge and he could flip and join the new Republican majority in the Senate."
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Manchin is not the only Dem having to work in a red state, others are in his situation but are hanging in with Dems as they are in going against or voting against Sessions while Manchin is the lone dem who will support Sessions.

Red-state Democrats turn against Sessions for AG
Several of them cite his opposition to domestic violence legislation four years ago.

So far, Sessions has picked up one Democratic vote, Sen. Joe Manchin of West Virginia, who called the Alabama senator “my friend” in a Fox News interview this week.

But that could be the extent of Sessions' backing from Democrats. Donnelly has “concerns” about Sessions’ nomination, an aide said. The Indiana senator met with Sessions on Thursday.

Honeymoon is over, thanks to Democrats and Donald Trump himself

The shortest honeymoon on record is officially over. Normally, newly elected presidents enjoy a wave of goodwill that allows them to fly high at least through their first 100 days. Donald Trump has not yet been sworn in, and the honeymoon has already come and gone.

Presidents-elect usually lie low during the interregnum. Trump never lies low. He seized the actual presidency from Barack Obama within weeks of his election — cutting ostentatious deals with U.S. manufacturers to keep jobs at home, challenging 40-year-old China policy, getting into a very public fight with the intelligence agencies. By now he has taken over the presidential stage.

It is true that we have only one president at a time, and for over a month, it’s been Trump.

The result is quantifiable. A Quinnipiac poll from Nov. 17-20 — the quiet, hope-and-change phase — showed a decided bump in Trump’s popularity and in general national optimism.

It didn’t last long. In the latest Quinnipiac poll, the numbers have essentially returned to Trump’s (historically dismal) pre-election levels.

Pardon window is closing on Pete ONeal, KCs Black Panther in Africa

He took a bullet on Troost Avenue, spewed Marxist rage, declared war on police and tried to start a revolution.

Funny what would now make a guy like that happy.

“They are building me a goat house,” Pete O’Neal says in a telephone interview from a village between two east African mountains.

He’s at home in his old chair, surrounded by 21 children who call him “Babu,” meaning grandfather, though he is that to none of them. In photos and videos, he doesn’t look like much of a fugitive; no “go bag” in sight. He’s 76 with a degenerative spine, cataracts and prostate issues. A body worn out except for the smile.

But if he were to leave Tanzania, where he’s lived nearly 50 years, and travel to the U.S., he would likely be arrested for a gun conviction dating to when he led the Black Panthers during the 1960s in Kansas City. He might be the last black militant of the era still at war with the U.S government.

He was a street kid and ex-con. Smart, gifted with charisma. His call for armed revolution served as a clarion to those like him and they followed him into the fray.

Most everybody else feared him, or hated him — him in his beret and sunglasses, disrupting polite company, barging into hallowed chambers, denouncing the way things had always been. He crashed a church service, brawled at police headquarters and stormed a Senate subcommittee hearing in Washington.

Kansas City had never seen anybody like him. And it hasn’t seen him for a long time.

Sessions Lone Democratic Backer & Supporter: Manchin

"So far, Sessions has picked up one Democratic vote, Sen. Joe Manchin of West Virginia, who called the Alabama senator “my friend” in a Fox News interview this week.

But that could be the extent of Sessions' backing from Democrats. Donnelly has “concerns” about Sessions’ nomination, an aide said. The Indiana senator met with Sessions on Thursday."

Manchin supporters on here, say Manchin has to support Sessions because of WV. Other Red State Dems are putting integrity & country first & not worrying about their Red State.

CNNs Erin Burnett: Are Democrats Crossing the Line With Trump Legitimacy Questions? Unbelievable

Everything going on with Trump, his security advisor Flynn, Comey & she asks if Dems are crossing the line about the legitimacy of Trump's election. This along with Anderson Cooper saying {Anderson Cooper: If a Republican Said About Clinton What John Lewis Said About Trump}“I get he doesn’t like Donald Trump,” Cooper said, “I get he doesn’t accept the results of the election but is this helpful in any way?… If a Republican had said this about President-elect Hillary Clinton, Democrats would be up in arms.”----------In other words, they are saying Dems should just sit down & be quiet about what Trump is doing.

======================Who knows what Trump will do with everything he is getting away with. As for all the conspiracy theories even about him declaring Martial Law. Hey, it is not that far out if or maybe if he would do that with the people he is surrounding himself with. Will he? Who knows but those who are saying some on DU are being crazy by insinuating he would do such have no more proof he won't then anyone who thinks he might. You still have those who evidently are not living in reality or seeing what is going on with Trump & his Russian connections & are refusing to admit how dangerous this guy is or at least how dangerous those around him are.

With a well-respected member of Congress and a former Hillary Clinton spokesman raising questions about Donald Trump‘s “legitimacy,” CNN’s Erin Burnett asked if Democrats are “crossing the line” here.

Keith Boykin said Trump is certainly “not a legitimately elected president if Russia intervened in the election.”

Burnett said “you’re never gonna know that for sure,” but she did also say it’s “ironic” Team Trump would be upset about questions of legitimacy when Trump “led the effort to delegitimize Barack Obama‘s presidency” with questions about birtherism. (you have to give her that one I guess)

Jeffrey Lord shot back that whatever Trump said about Obama didn’t affect the fact that he won twice.

D.C. Press Took Collective Action To Protest Obama White House Restrictions -- Why Not Trump?

With an allegation of Russian-style censorship hanging in the air in 2013, dozens of news organizations loudly protested to the Obama White House that journalists were being denied proper access for newsgathering. Taking collective action, the news outlets, including ABC, CBS, Fox, and NBC, requested “an immediate meeting” with White House officials “to resolve this very serious situation.”

Specifically, the allegation was that the Obama White House was "routinely" excluding news photographers from presidential events that were recorded exclusively by a White House staff photographer. The administration claimed the events were “private.” News organizations countered that the White House's subsequent release of its own, in-house photos of those events on social media meant the events hadn’t actually been “private.”

The conflict became intense. “A mini-revolt by news organizations against White House press restrictions gathered momentum Monday as USA Today joined other media shops to have declared a boycott on officially issued photographs,” The Guardian reported.

In their letter to the White House, co-signed by 38 organizations including various news outlets, the White House Correspondents' Association, and the White House News Photographers Association, the groups wrote, “As surely as if they were placing a hand over a journalist’s camera lens, officials in this administration are blocking the public from having an independent view of important functions of the executive branch of government."

A Deep Dive Into Party Affiliation - Sharp Differences by Race, Gender, Generation, Education

We see on here how many ask why Dems cannot unite like Republicans. There really is a valid reason why it is harder to do it like they do. Republicans have it easy when you look at how & who make up their political party.

Democrats hold advantages in party identification among blacks, Asians, Hispanics, well-educated adults and Millennials. Republicans have leads among whites – particularly white men, those with less education and evangelical Protestants – as well as members of the Silent Generation.

A new analysis of long-term trends in party affiliation among the public provides a detailed portrait of where the parties stand among various groups in the population. It draws on more than 25,000 interviews conducted by the Pew Research Center in 2014, which allows examination of partisan affiliation across even relatively small racial, ethnic, educational and income subgroups. Penthouse may have proof of Trumps golden shower tryst at Moscow hotel

Adult magazine Penthouse has received three claims for its $1 million offer to anyone who could provide real tapes of President-elect Donald Trump’s alleged and unproven sexual escapades at the Ritz-Carlton in Moscow, the publication’s editor exclusively revealed to International Business Times Thursday.

Penthouse editor Raphie Aronowitz said the magazine isn’t conducting a “witch hunt,” but wants to prove whether the allegations against Trump are true. Aronowitz said the lucrative offer falls in line with the magazine’s well-established brand, though to his knowledge Penthouse has never made such an exorbitant offer before.

“If the story is real, which we don’t know if it is or not, it really kind of hits at the intersection between politics, scandal and sex, which as a brand both historically and currently is our sweet spot,” Aronowitz said in a phone interview.

He also said the advent and effect of “fake news” – articles containing false or inaccurate information spread by social media sites that many have credited with helping Trump win the Oval Office, including President Barack Obama - played a role in the offer.

“For us, this was the type of story that we wanted to jump all over. But at the same time there’s been so much floating around - as far as fake news stories – there have been so many people who have just been taking shots at President-elect Donald Trump because he’s an easy target, and we as a brand and as an informational source, we didn’t want to jump on the bandwagon,” Aronowitz said. “We wanted to make sure this story could be verified, that the murmurings of their being actual video documentation that corroborates the allegations, do exist. For us, this was a very real ask, which is just ‘Give us some facts, and let us share the real story with our readers and with the public.’”

Aronowitz’s comments fell in line with the statement released by Penthouse Global Media CEO Kelly Holland following the offer’s announcement Tuesday on Twitter. The magazine, best known for publishing pornography, offered $1 million for exclusive rights to videos proving the allegations against Trump.

Arnowitz said Penthouse, which has published controversial documents and interviews in the past, has not received physical tapes or video files but individuals have responded to the offer via email and its customer help line.

Should Penthouse receive a tape or file, Aronowitz said it will then turn it over to experts formerly affiliated with the Federal Bureau of Investigation – how they were affiliated Aronowitz would not explain – in order to authenticate it. Aronowitz said he hoped to see a video by the end of the week but that there is no set time frame or deadline.

The so-called “Golden Shower Gate” scandal stems from reports from CNN and BuzzFeed Tuesday involving the release of an unverified 35-page dossier that included, among many other accusations, details of Trump allegedly booking the upscale hotel suite where President Barack Obama and the First Lady Michelle Obama had previously stayed in Moscow and hiring prostitutes to urinate on the bed. The FSB, Russia’s top internal security agency, is believed to have “control” of the entire hotel, including hidden microphones and cameras, according to the dossier. The unverified documents allege the FSB collected information against Trump in order to blackmail him.
