They really weren't prepared at all for the snow
If you think Texas is bad, just wait until something happens to California
Way too many people are just completely clueless and unprepared for a natural disaster. Texas should be a wake up call to always have a plan to prepare for the worst. Stock up water above all else, amazing how civilization suddenly falls apart so fast when the faucets aren't working anymore.
Elon Musk just put $1.5 BILLION dollars into bitcoin, holy cow!
My God, $100k per bitcoin now seems to be a real possibility. It's already gone up $5k over the past hour.
Tesla announced Monday that it bought $1.5 billion worth of bitcoin, according to a filing with the SEC.
The company said it bought the bitcoin for "more flexibility to further diversify and maximize returns on our cash," according to the filing. In addition to the purchase, Tesla said it would start accepting payments in bitcoin in exchange for its products as well.
The move raised immediate questions around CEO Elon Musk's behavior on Twitter recent weeks, where he has been credited for increasing the prices of cryptocurrencies like bitcoin and dogecoin by posting messages about them and therefore encouraging more people to buy.
This is breaking news. Please check back for updates.

Regarding Gamestop, are we in for an economic crash even worse than 2008?
I don't really understand the stock market that well, but is this true? Is Reddit and 4chan going to end up destroying the economy?
California health care worker dies after second dose of COVID vaccine, investigations underway
Tim Zooks last post on Facebook brimmed with optimism. Never been so excited to get a shot before, he wrote on Jan. 5, above a photo of the Band-Aid on his arm and his COVID-19 vaccination card. I am now fully vaccinated after receiving my 2nd Pfizer dose.
Shortly after midnight on Jan. 7, the hospital called. Zook was in a medically induced coma and on a ventilator to help him breathe. But his blood pressure soon dropped and he was transferred to UC Irvine Medical Center. On Friday I get a call, His kidneys are failing. He needs to be on dialysis. If not, he could die but theres also a chance he might have a heart attack or stroke on dialysis because his blood pressure is so low, Rochelle Zook said.
By 4 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 9, Zook had gone code blue twice and was snatched back from the brink of death. There was a third code blue in the afternoon. They said if he went code blue a fourth time, hed have brain damage and be a vegetable if he survives, Rochelle Zook said.
Later that day, Tim Zook died.

Jealous wife stabs husband after photo shows him with younger woman that turns out to be herself
A woman only identified as Leonora N. from Cajeme, Sonora, Mexico was recently scrolling through her husband's phone when she happened upon a photo that sent her into a fury.
The photo showed her husband posing with a younger woman and incensed, proceeded to STAB her husband with a nearby knife! It wasn't until after he was stabbed that Leonora's husband was able to wrestle the knife away from her and explain that the woman in the photographs was her!
Leonora's husband explained that he was digitizing some older photographs of the couple, and she just didn't recognize herself. Leonora was arrested, and charges are currently pending.

New York could become the first state to ban bulletproof vests
Albany, New York A New York lawmaker has authored a bill that would confiscate body armor from citizens and make it illegal to buy the protective gear in the state.
Currently, there is a ban on the use of bulletproof vests while carrying out a violent felony offense.
If passed, New York would become the first state to ban the purchase or possession of ballistic vests for citizens.
The bill from assembly member Jonathan G. Jacobson (D.) would outlaw the sale and possession of body armor in the state of New York. The bill would require residents who own a bulletproof vest to turn them over to police within 15 days of the bill becoming law.
The Washington Free Beacon reports that Second Amendment advocates are speaking out against the proposed law. The Firearms Policy Coalition created the website BodyArmorBan.com in order to mobilize against the proposal. The group said in a message on the site that Jacobsons bill deprives New Yorkers of their right to passive defense by instituting a confiscatory ban on body armor.
The Firearms Policy Coalition noted the bill provides an exception for police officers and questioned why normal citizens should not be allowed the same protections.
As is tradition, police are exempt from this new restraint on the right to keep and bear arms, the group said on its website.
In the aftermath of the summer violence in the state and in particular New York City, Bulletproof vest sales have soared with one New York City vendor reporting that sales have increased 80% from 2019.

Manchin on proposed round of $2K checks: 'Absolutely not'
Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) on Friday voiced firm opposition to providing $2,000 stimulus checks, putting the moderate lawmaker at odds with President-elect Joe Biden, congressional Democrats and even some Republicans.
Absolutely not. No, Manchin told The Washington Post in an interview published Friday. Getting people vaccinated, thats job No. 1.
How is the money that we invest now going to help us best to get jobs back and get people employed? And I cant tell you that sending another check out is gonna do that to a person thats already got a check, he said.
Manchin in a tweet, later said if a new round of checks go out, they should be targeted to ensure they go to those in need.
