U.S. spies reportedly heard a Russian military intelligence officer bragging about his organization planning to target Hillary Clinton in May 2016.The officer told a colleague that GRU would cause havoc in America's presidential election, Time reported Thursday.
The officer reportedly described the intelligence agency's effort as retribution for what Russian President Vladimir Putin considered Clinton's influence campaign against him while serving as secretary of State. Senior U.S. intelligence officials told Time that American spies transcribed the conversation and sent it to headquarters for analysis.
Time reported that an official document based on the raw intelligence was then circulated."We didn't really understand the context of it until much later," a senior U.S. intelligence official said

UnitedHealth fudged Medicare claims, overbilled by $1 billion, feds say
Source: Center for Public Integrity.
The Justice Department has accused insurance giant UnitedHealth Group of overcharging the federal government by more than $1 billion through its Medicare Advantage plans.
In a 79-page lawsuit filed late Tuesday in Los Angeles, the Justice Department alleged that the insurer made patients appear sicker than they actually were in order to collect higher Medicare payments than the company deserved. The government said it had conservatively estimated that the company knowingly and improperly avoided repaying Medicare for more than a billion dollars over the course of the alleged decade-long scheme

How Bernie Sanders beat the clock and avoided disclosure

On the one hand, who now beside political voyeurs and snoopy journalists, perhaps would care about the investments and income of an also-ran presidential candidate who hasnt been a major factor in Election 2016 for more than two months?
But on the other, Sanders expertly exploited a system that effectively allowed him to delay, delay, delay all while he chided Clinton receipt of six-figure paydays for delivering closed-door speeches to officials at investment bank Goldman Sachs and other powerful special interests. (Both Clinton and Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump filed their personal financial disclosures on time in mid-May without asking for extensions

Washington U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., missed the May 15 deadline to submit documents detailing his finances during 2016, the latest move from a politician who has shown an aversion to sharing personal financial information.
Meanwhile, Vermonts other senator, Democrat Patrick Leahy, filed his report on time.
All U.S. senators are required to file annual reports with the U.S. Senate Select Committee on Ethics, detailing their assets, liabilities and investments, as well as gifts and travel provided by private entities.
GOP fears Trump will take the Republican Party down with him
"You have this White House that is lurching from crisis to crisis, the image is of disarray they can't get their hands around the basic day-to-day agenda, and define the progress they have made" Republican pollster David Winston said. "One of the things that the president has is the bully pulpit; the bully pulpit lets you drive the agenda and these crises haven't let the White House effectively get there."
"This is concerning and alarming," Rep. Charlie Dent, R-Pa., said flatly. "We're going to have to confront these issues as a Congress."
Republicans see red flags because foreign policy and national security are at the center of the crises that have engulfed Trump over the past seven days.
Concerns about Trump's fitness to serve as commander-in-chief has been a weak spot with independents and GOP voters outside of his loyal base. These voters form the backbone of the coalition that elected the president and Republican majorities in the House and Senate in November.
A Republican lobbyist who is actively raising money for the party said the complaints have been piling up from donors. They don't think that the problem is media persecution or Democratic obstruction, they think the problem is the president.
"People are feeling it's disgust, it's shame, it's you name it, all of the above," the lobbyist said. Asked for examples of the complaints fielded, the lobbyist added: "When is this going to end? How can we recover? These are clowns.

Source: CNN
President Trump has called reporters dishonest, said the media is "the enemy of the American people," and mused about making it easier to sue journalists. And, according to a new report, he has gone even further than that in private, telling then-FBI Director James Comey that Comey should consider locking reporters up.
Trump said this to Comey during a meeting in the Oval Office in February, according to a New York Times report Tuesday. The request came during the same meeting in which Trump is said to have asked Comey to drop the federal investigation into former national security adviser Michael Flynn, potentially interfering with the investigation into alleged ties between Trump's presidential campaign and Russian officials.
