NWCorona's JournalWhy Upstate New Yorkers Have Turned on Hillary Clinton
"In more fringe circles in the area, voters have called for New York to divide into two autonomous regions, with the Southern Tier breaking off into a new state called New Amsterdam. But while the idea isn't exactly popularBob Carangelo's father, also named Bob, told me "those people are chasing a dream"it's a visceral example of a more widespread feeling that people in New York live in two different states. Candidates who resonate with this upstate audience have been able to tap into that white, working-class angst that is so prevalent here, assailing trade deals and job-outsourcing, and promising that Washington, or Albany, will no longer ignore their economic and social fears.
In 2016, several candidates have managed to tap into these feelings. "We have Cruz people, we have Bernie people, we have Trump people," said John Bergener, chair of the Divide NYS caucus, one of the upstate secessionist groups. But "come to think of it," he added, "there's no Clinton people."
Clinton's failure to connect here is notableand a relatively recent development in her years as in New York politics. During her 2000 race for the state's open US Senate seat, Clinton beat her opponent by 10 percentage points in part by flipping the state's white, working-class vote from red to blue. She managed a similar feat against Barack Obama in the 2008 Democratic presidential primary, when she dominated upstate voters in New York's primary.
But In 2016, although Clinton leads New York Democratic polls by a wide margin, she has reportedly struggled to maintain the support she once had upstate, in part because she faces an opponent, Sanders, who has made trade policy a major talking point of his campaign.
Some of the animosity toward Clinton seems to stem from a dislike of Cuomo, a staunch backer of the former New York Senator's White House campaign. In the minds of many of the voters I spoke to him in Binghamton this weekend, Cuomo and Clinton are interchangeable, representing the same type of backroom politics and compromises that have continued to hurt Binghamton."

WALL STREET FRAUD: SANDERS IS COMING — ADVISER WILLIAM BLACK BLASTS CLINTON
"With Wall Street fraud, Sanders is hitting head on.
Stopping the insidious, widespread fraud of Wall Street means breaking up big banks, and here, Sanders differs from Hillary Clinton in one major way he plans to do it, she doesnt.
In line with that plan, Sanders has welcomed to his team adviser William K. Black, as previously reported in the Inquisitr.
Bringing on Black means Sanders is serious.
Among numerous qualifications reported by sources such as The Huffington Post, Black is an attorney, former bank regulator, professor, academic, and the author of the book, The Best Way To Rob a Bank is to Own One.

Sanders aide: Clinton got 'almost all of the money' from Clooney fundraiser
"A top aide to Democratic presidential Bernie Sanders says a fundraiser hosted by actor George Clooney is only benefiting Hillary Clinton, not any down-ballot Democratic candidates.
This fundraising arrangement that George Clooney and others have donated into believing that theyre giving money to the down-ballot candidates, two-thirds of that money is going actually to Hillary Clinton, Sanders campaign manager Jeff Weaver said on MSNBC on Monday.
Only a third has been going to down-ballot candidates, he added. "In addition to that, $15 million of that money has gone into other operations that primarily benefit only Secretary Clinton.
It seems as its not working as its supposed to, which is to benefit the Party and down-ballot. Almost all of the money is going to Hillary Clinton.

Bernie Sanders rallies at LIC's Hunter’s Point South Park; TV on the Radio performs
"Bernie Sanders supporters packed a Queens park on Monday night for the Democratic presidential candidate's final New York City rally before Tuesday's primary.
"You all look beautiful, and you all look like you want a political revolution," Sanders said to cheers from the crowd at Hunter's Point South Park along Long Island City's waterfront.
Sanders told the audience that a large voter turnout for Tuesday's New York primary would lead to a victory against Democratic rival Hillary Clinton.
The Vermont senator criticized Clinton for her paid speeches and told the crowd that she has said she'll release the transcripts of her paid speeches if other candidates do the same. He then said he'd release all the transcripts of the speeches that he gave "behind closed doors to Wall Street" -- of which there are none.
He also slammed Wall Street's "greed, recklessness and illegal behavior," which he said hurt millions of Americans.
Sanders also had a message for corporate America: "Get nervous if Bernie Sanders is elected president."
TV on the Radio performed "Lazerray" ahead of the Vermont senator's speech. Actor Danny Glover spoke ahead of Sanders, saying that it's time for Americans to make a choice on "how to change the world, change our lives."
LIC resident Mike Smith, 36, a dual citizen who grew up in Switzerland, was among the rally attendees.
"I'm familiar with a lot of the things he's saying and I think they're the right things," said Smith, who works in marketing. While he doesn't expect to hear Sanders say anything new, he wanted to be there "to really feel the Bern, to feel the energy."
He added, "It's great to really be here and be a part of it."

Bernie Sanders’ Team Just Accused Hillary Clinton of Violating Campaign Finance Rules
"On the eve of the New York primary, the Bernie Sanders campaign accused Hillary Clinton and the Democratic National Committee of skirting campaign finance rules by using funds from a joint fundraising committee to benefit Clinton's presidential run.
In a letter to embattled DNC Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz, Sanders campaign attorney Brad Deutsch questioned whether the Clinton campaign had "violated legal limits on donations" through activities associated with the Hillary Victory Fund. The HVF is a joint fundraising committee, which raises and spends money on behalf of Hillary for America (Clinton's official campaign committee), the DNC, and 33 state Democratic parties.
The Sanders campaign said that the way the committee was set up allowed it to receive individual donations worth hundreds of thousands of dollars, aruging that some donations to the committee exceeded up to 130 times the $2,700 individual donors are allowed to contribute to campaigns under federal election rules. A lot of that money is flowing to Clinton's campaign to pay for campaigning activities and salaries, Deutsch said, in "serious apparent violations" of the law.

On the eve of the New York primary, the Bernie Sanders campaign accused Hillary Clinton and the Democratic National Committee of skirting campaign finance rules by using funds from a joint fundraising committee to benefit Clinton's presidential run.
In total, individuals can give up to $358,000 to the joint fundraising committee, should a Democratic donor choose to max out to Clinton's campaign, the DNC and each state party. But the Clinton campaign itself can only accept $2,700 from each individual donor, which is processed through the joint fundraising committee and passed on to her campaign. The Sanders team is arguing that the remaining high-dollar donations are still benefiting her, even though the money is not directly flowing through her campaign's coffers.
"Bernie 2016 is particularly concerned that these extremely large-dollar individual contributions have been used by HVF to pay for more than $7.8 million in direct mail efforts and over $8.6 million in online advertising," Deutsch wrote in the letter.
The Sanders campaign claimed that, "at best, the joint committee's spending on direct mail and online advertising appears to represent an impermissible in-kind contribution" essentially a gift that must be reported as if the Clinton campaign itself spent the funds "from the DNC and the participating state party committees."
"At worst, using funds received from large-dollar donors who have already contributed the $2,700 maximum to HFA [Hillary for America] may represent an excessive contribution," the letter read."

Hillary Was Nowhere to Be Seen in the Fight for 15—I Should Know
"It was inspiring to see the call for a $15 minimum wage take center stage at last weeks presidential debate in New York. And arguably, to become the most contentious part of it, each candidate jockeying to prove their support for what was once considered a politically impractical dream. Our movement has come a long way.
But as an early participant in this movement, and as an elected official who centered the Fight for $15 in my 2013 election campaign for Seattle City Council, I was surprised to hear from Hillary Clinton that she had always supported $15. Even more surprising, she specifically said she supported the call for $15 here in Seattle, the first major city to pass it.
I can tell you, this came as a news flash to all the activists and fast-food workers who fought hard against Big Business to win $15 in Seattle.
When we started, our demand was ridiculed by Seattles political and media establishment. We were told to tone it down, not unlike Hillarys recent advice to Bernie. For almost the entire 2013 election, no part of Seattles Democratic establishment supported $15 an hour. Local media asked mayoral and other city council candidates if they would support $15, and not a single one initially would! Some went out of their way to make opposing arguments, saying it would be a job killer, or that it was presumptuous.
At that point, if someone like Hillary Clinton had so much as tweeted in support of $15, it would have made our work a lot easier. But she did nothing of the kind.
Months later, when our grassroots campaign had succeeded in making $15 the defining issue in that years Seattle elections, corporate politicians began to come out of the woodwork, trying to hitch their election campaigns to the issue. By early the next year, every politician was getting on the $15 train, some cynically looking to make careers out of it. And while that wider platform of elected officials was a step toward our movements victory, it would be dangerous if the real story of how $15 was won wasnt told."

Sanders Welcomed in One of New York's Poorest Neighborhoods
"Two days before the New York primary, Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders toured one of New York City's poorest neighborhoods much to the surprise of local residents.
"Nice to get to know you now," one lady told Sanders, shaking his hand as he exited a public housing project and stopped by a playground in Brownsville, Brooklyn. "I was against you at first."
"I am not so bad as I look on TV," Sanders replied.
"No, you aren't. It is nice to see that you are coming through here. So, you might get our vote now," she continued, before turning to the crowd who had formed around Sanders. "He actually came to the 'hood to get our vote. He shook our hands."
Brownsville has been listed as one of the poorest neighborhoods in New York City, with a high crime rate, too. According to a study by the city last year, 76 percent of the population in the neighborhood is African American and more than 37 percent live below the federal poverty line.
Two city councilmen and Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams led Sanders on his tour. The Vermont senator addressed reporters at the end of his visit.
"People should not be forced to live in dilapidated housing where elevators break down and elderly people have to walk eight flights up or down to go and get some groceries," Sanders said. "What this campaign is about is transforming our national priorities, rebuilding our infrastructure, and when we talk about rebuilding our infrastructure, that means rebuilding housing projects like this. Not only here in New York, but all over this country."

Brooklyn councilman electrifies Sanders rally: ‘You’re goddamn right’ he’s waging ‘war with reality’
"New York City Councilman Jumaane Williams fired up a crowd in Brooklyn over the weekend with a rousing endorsement of Sen. Bernie Sanders for president.
What [New York Daily News] said about Bernie Sanders is that he is at war with reality, Williams told a large group of supporters in Prospect Park on Sunday. And I thought to myself, Youre goddamn right.
Because too many peoples reality in this borough, and in this city, in this nation needs to be at war with, he continued. Too many peoples reality is struggle. And maybe if youre not at war with reality, youre not focused enough.
According to the councilman, the Sanders campaign represented a political revolutionary moonshot.
From an eight-hour workday, to no child labor, from LGBT rights, to womens suffrage, from the Civil Rights movement, to freeing the slaves, were all revolutionary moonshots, he insisted. In fact, the birth of this nation was a revolutionary moonshot. The people who say it cannot be done, please move out of the way of the people who are doing.
Im proud today to endorse the next president of the United States of America, Senator Bernie Sanders, who will bring the revolutionary moonshot, baby! Williams concluded."
