The Coming Republican Whitewashing of Donald Trump

The Washington Post has an infuriating but absolutely accurate OP written by Greg Sergeant about the coming erasure of Trump's disastrous tenure. We're already hearing the initial strains of the attempt with familiar echoes: the debt, the deficit, the extremist Left. What is infuriating is that this ploy isn't new and has worked in the past. Think the Bush/Cheney lost years and the transferred accountability to Obama's Administration.

And just to get your blood pressure up, here's a quote from the odious Lindsey Graham:

“Our problem is tone, their problem is policy,” Mr. Graham said of the two parties. “We’ve both got to overcome problems, but I like our chances better because we can act better and it’s harder for them to legislate differently.”

And Cornyn:

“When Trump is no longer in office there’s going to be less focus on personality and ‘What did he tweet today, what did he say today?’” predicted Senator John Cornyn of Texas, adding, hopefully, that Democrats would soon struggle with internal divisions in a “Tea Party moment” akin to what Republicans faced a decade ago.

These fuckers are already mapping out the displacement of accountability, the mass amnesia they're hoping to conjure up.

We need to be prepared with an antidote in messaging because this is just as toxic and damaging as Trump. Maybe more so.

Update on Baby Cassandra!

Grand baby's surgery is over and one more tiny heart is pumping and thumping in near perfect rhythm. Though the next 48-72 hours will be important, the surgeon was very pleased with the result. Cassandra's vitals are all positive and strong; this little one is feisty, has been from day 1.

Anyway, thank you for all the prayers, blessings and good wishes. Means a lot. In fact, many of your replies had me welling up with emotion. I tend to be a cry baby.

Cassandra still has a journey ahead of her but she has just scrambled over a very tall obstacle. The rest of the road looks easy-peasy in comparison.

What a relief!

Thanks once again.

This is off the political footpath but if you could spare a prayer

My nearly, brand new grand daughter is undergoing heart surgery tomorrow morning at 8 a.m. The procedure is to repair a congenital heart defect, basically two holes in her heart.

I announced her entrance into the world back at the end of May, a 2-pound preemie who has been through crisis after crisis, stunning her physicians and giving her parents mega anxiety. Not to mention her Nan (that would be me).

Cassandra came into the world a little over 2 pounds. She now weighs in a 6 pounds, 5 ounces. Still tiny but fierce.

The heart surgery is the big challenge. Once she scrambles over this hurdle, her doctors will begin therapies to strengthen her lung capacity and then she gets to go home. Which means my son and his wife can return to a semi-normal life and routine.

So, any prayers you have sitting around looking for a destination? I'd ask you to whisper them in the direction of the Nemours Pediatric hospital in Wilmington, DE., under the name of Baby Cassandra, referred to on her floor as the Miracle Baby.

Thanks in advance!

America

We may criticize the political lineage of The Lincoln Project. But these guys know how to put effective ads together. This is another one. If it's already been featured, it's worth another look.

Welp! I got my Dream Ticket

Wasn't sure it would happen but I'm thoroughly stoked. Kamala Harris will be a great VP, a helpmate to Joe Biden and clean Pence's clock in the debates.

We're going to win this thing!!!

This Is How We Find Peace, Justice and Reconciliation: Solidarity

The article in Forbes gives me hope. Don't let the nihilists and haters bring the moment down. This is how a new beginning starts. The imagery and emotion behind the actions are profound and uplifting: police joining protestors to say, This Needs to Stop, Now. The acts of solidarity were not limited to one city but scattered across the country. I was glad to hear that Camden, NJ was one of those cities.

This is how we change the status quo, not through violence and burning the world down but by changing hearts and minds. Taking the knee is an indelible image, one that only the soulless/mindless can argue. But here's the thing:

There really are more Americans of goodwill than there are haters.

In All the Darkness and Chaos, A Tiny Beam of Light

In this case, a 2-pound, 2-ounce beam of light named Cassandra. Today I am officially a grandmother to a tiny miracle who still has a rough road ahead because she'll require heart surgery in the next few days. But she is in the world and I'm officially a Nana, a first-timer.

If you would, could or are so inclined, say a few prayers for our tiny light Cassandra.

Kellyanne Conway Can't Help Herself

The Queen of Alternative Facts is out spinning the spin that Joe Biden's promise to choose a woman as VP is like a hormone-laden Frat House Bro: Get Me A Woman. She's none too fond of Susan Rice either, who she claims 'can't be trusted.'

Time to look in the mirror, Kellyanne. No amount of Botox makes you look trustworthy. Just saying, Sister. You're time in the sunshine is coming to an end. Along with the Infant King's.

Go to 2:58 for Conway's comments on Biden's VP list, 'binders of women' snark. No shame inside the Trumphumper group. None.

Another Day, Another Challenge

Of course, as Joe Biden supporters we should be accustomed to the next challenge and those to follow.

Still, it's an ants in the pants day as we watch the Biden upswing, the endorsements pouring in and Super Tuesday ready to take off. What appeared 'maybe' doable last week, seems well within the realm of possibility: Joe Biden holds his own tomorrow, shaves off Sanders' support and ends up within striking distance of the nomination, even without a majority at the convention. Right now, Nate Silver sees the possibly that no one has a majority at the end of the primary as the most likely outcome. That could change, of course, but if that happens we'll see the true strength of what coalition building and nurturing professional relationships over a career is all about. Being the perennial maverick/outsider by choice might have a romantic spin to it for some. But come the nitty-gritty of choosing sides, making one of the most important decisions affecting not simply the Democratic Party but the entire country, I know where I'd put my money. And it's not with Bernie.

So good luck to us all tomorrow. The anticipation is a thing of wonder.

and, of course:
