guillaumeb's JournalThink about the term "Trump getting an intelligence briefing" for a second.
And then think about the words Trump and intelligence in a sentence without the word lacks.
My guess is that no one at DU can really do that.
That Trump lacks even average intelligence is easy to see. No matter the subject, he demonstrates his ignorance every time that he opens his mouth.
Why do Trump voters not see this? Well, it is difficult to see anything when that MAGA hat is down covering the eyes.
Which story is true, Governor Northam?
He has told 2 contradictory stories so far about the black face/KKK incident in the VMI yearbook.
The first story was that he was very sorry for what he admitted to having done.
The second story is that he never did anything of the sort.
The 2 stories are mutually contradictory. So which version of the truth applies?
And no matter which one Northam expects people to believe, that means that the other is a lie.
Will his story evolve even further?
Do we build walls, or bridges?
I recently posted an article dealing with Democrats who are attempting to address areas of commonality with the GOP.
In the article, Democratic Senator Chris Coons is described as reaching out to his GOP colleagues. The common ground is faith.
Some of the responses suggested that this approach, this search for commonality, is a terrible idea.
Why?
Should we as Democrats reach out, and build bridges to the GOP, and in so doing, accomplish things when we can agree, or do we build walls and stay inside the walls?
The second approach, building the walls, implies that there are essentially 2 separate nations uneasily co-existing.
Considering a costume?
Dressing as Wonder Woman is fine.
Dressing as Luke Skywalker is fine.
Dressing as Santa Claus is fine.
Dressing as a Nazi is not fine.
Dressing as a KKK member is not fine.
Dressing in heavy makeup is fine if one is playing the part of a clown.
Dressing in blackface? See the part about dressing as a KKK member.
Edited to add: And if you do not understand why dressing as a Nazi, or a KKK member, or in blackface is not fine, you have serious unresolved issues.
Open racism versus "polite racism".
GOP politicians are expected to be racists. Some, like Trump and Steve King, (and so many others) are open racists. Others are what we might term "polite racists." Not that there is anything polite about race-based hate, but the "polite racist" will only call you a racist name after you walk away. Or in conversation with like minded racists. Mitt Romney epitomizes for me the polite racist.
So if a GOP politicians says something racist, any response noting that GOP racism is categorized as being "too sensitive", or an overreaction. And if a GOP open racist flies the southern flag of rebellion, that is merely an affirmation of heritage. And if a GOP open racist talks about white supremacy, that is merely white pride.
And if anyone criticizes a GOP racist for something that the racist said or did, that is called "political correctness".

Anthropologist Debunks Bill Gates' BS Narrative That Free-Market Capitalism Has Solved Crisis of Global Poverty
From the article:
The idea that the free-market capitalism has grown while solving the crisis of extreme poverty around the world may be tempting for some to embrace, Hickel wrote in the Guardianbut it is "completely wrong."... .
"Our world is richer than ever before, but virtually all of it is being captured by a small elite," Hickel wrote. "Only five percent of all new income from global growth trickles down to the poorest 60 percentand yet they are the people who produce most of the food and goods that the world consumes, toiling away in those factories, plantations and mines to which they were condemned 200 years ago. It is madnessand no amount of mansplaining from billionaires will be adequate to justify it."
