August 6: "Trump Launches Fundraising Blitz"- NPR article says he still has high rollers' support

He is not dropping out. He picked Mike Pence for VP and gave the endorsements to ensure the BIG campaign contributions flow more readily. His biggest motivations in life are money and power to satisfy his massive ego. He pretended in the primary to be the self-funding outsider who was bucking the establishment and not bending to the will of wealthy donors, but ultimately he is going to do what it takes to rake in as much money as he can. His Russian allegiance is tied up with obtaining financing for his business enterprises, not just because he's some dupe swayed by Putin's flattery.

"As President Obama settles in for his summer vacation on Martha's Vineyard, Donald Trump will be just 14 miles across the water at a Cape Cod mansion, raising money for his campaign." (Mansion is Bridget and Bill Koch's- brother of Charles and David Koch)

"The reception, and another one on Nantucket, will help launch an intense month of soliciting by Trump: 21 events in 31 days, according to a calendar of the Republican National Committee. The campaign said Trump raised a record $80 million last month for the campaign committee and Republican National Committee, just $10 million short of Hillary Clinton's operation (Official reports are due Aug. 20). For the first time, Trump's fundraising machine seems to be in high gear."

"Two volunteer fundraisers for the event said they saw no evidence of donors backing away from their support for Trump due to his recent stumbles. Amy Carnevale and David Tamasi are both on the host committee, which requires giving or raising $10,000. Carnevale, a Trump delegate at last month's Republican convention, said the event met monetary expectations. "Mr. Trump has proven to be very resilient," she said."

"Tamasi, a Cape Cod native who's now a Washington lobbyist, said, "We've not been experiencing any people who are abandoning the event, or are not returning calls and no longer expressing interest." This cycle, his third as a presidential moneyman, he supported two other Republicans earlier in the primaries, and then went with Trump."

In 1990 Mike Pence used campaign funds to pay his mortgage and other personal expenses

Washington Post has just posted this article about Mike Pence's past abuse of campaign donations:

https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/mike-pence-used-campaign-funds-to-pay-his-mortgage--and-it-cost-him-an-election/2016/07/15/90858964-49ed-11e6-bdb9-701687974517_story.html

"Mike Pence was a young lawyer on the rise, challenging a longtime Democratic congressman in a Republican-leaning Indiana district.

And then, scandal.

Campaign finance records from the 1990 effort showed that Pence, then 31, had been using political donations to pay the mortgage on his house, his personal credit card bill, groceries, golf tournament fees and car payments for his wife.

The spending had not been illegal at the time. But it stunned voters — and undermined Pence’s strategy to portray the incumbent, Rep. Philip R. Sharp, as tainted by donations from special-interest political action committees".

Such a perfect match for Trump

State Dept. says 2 Clinton emails classified by mistake

Source: Associated Press

WASHINGTON (AP) — The State Department says human error was responsible for a pair of Hillary Clinton emails the FBI identified as marked classified when they were sent.

Describing a somewhat opaque internal process, spokesman John Kirby says officials often mark "call sheets" at the confidential level when the secretary of state is considering whom he or she will call. Once the secretary decides to make the call, the call sheets would be no longer classified.

Kirby says the markings on the Clinton emails mentioned by FBI Director James Comey "were no longer necessary or appropriate" as Clinton already had decided to make the calls.

The call sheets prepare officials for diplomatic discussions. Kirby said Wednesday that the classification is designed to protect "the idea of the call itself."

Guess that means FBI's conclusion that those 2 emails were classified was a wrong assessment.
