I love this bit from the script of Five Million Years to Earth (1967)

Professor Bernard Quatermass (Andrew Keir): "The will to survive is an odd phenomenon. Roney, if we found out our own world was doomed, say by climatic changes, what would we do about it?"

Dr. Mathew Roney (James Donald): "Nothing, just go on squabbling like usual."

Big Lots (a store in Southern California) is opened Thanksgiving Day from 7am-midnight.

...and they celebrate it with smiling, dance filled tv ad...

This is so messed up:
When I was growing up, companies respected major holidays, so people could celebrate the holiday.
I worked Thanksgiving at Baskin Robins as a kid, but was let out by 4 or 5pm.
Now all these companies are all competing with each other by opening earlier and earlier.

Our country sucks.

I didn't see this news bit on DU..."Lawyer identifies officer who killed St. Louis man"

Facebook reveals cop who killed black St. Louis teen an Obama-hating ammosexual

Lawyer identifies officer who killed St. Louis man

...Wooten noted online posts attributed to Flanery that call President Barack Obama "Nobama" and say that in a Michelle Obama speech, "She looks drunk, high, and dumb as hell." The lawyer said repeated disparaging remarks about blacks in Flanery's postings reflect a "strong negatively biased view of African-Americans."

He also cited Flanery's online criticism of liberals and homosexuality. The lawyer complained that "right-wing conservatives" have not traditionally been "the friendliest" to people like Myers.

Wooten said that photos on an Instagram site, showing Flanery's Marine, police and SWAT training, belie the claim that Myers pulled a gun and fired three shots before the officer could respond.

The lawyer said the Myers family released the name out of frustration that the department did not, and in hopes of hearing from others who may have had negative encounters with Flanery.

Millikan, emphasizing that he was not acknowledging the identity of his client, responded: "I've said all along that this policeman has military experience and that's one reason he's alive."

He continued, "The political view of the officer that was involved in this doesn't change any of the facts that happened. Whether he's a liberal or a conservative or a Whig or a tea party member, it doesn't change what happened that evening. And that is Myers had a gun and he used it and he tried to murder this policeman."

Full results of the police investigation have not been revealed. ...

The Koch brothers are probably squealing like happy guinea pigs right now.

Soon, they'll have their warm milk, and lay their bloated gray heads on silk covered pillows...smiling, and readying themselves for a new Koch world.

I just hope they are sleeping in their California mansion tonight.
Sweet nightmares you two creeps.

Governor Brown (D) won the Governor reelection in California...

and two propositions he backed in which he spoke in the advertising (1 and 2), got overwhelming wins.
If only we could get the fire in California (no pun intended) to spread throughout the nation.
(edited)...The only thing I don't like is that we may give the Secretary of State position to the GOP.
That's too much power, if you ask me.

Ravens (5-4) 23 - 43 Pittsburgh Steelers (6-3)

I didn't watch the whole game...but I figured the Steelers would win.
I felt the Ravens were playing a tad dirty at the beginning: that sock to Roth's jaw was quite obvious—and three penalties in one down? I've never seen that before! But, I will add that I've never seen three sacks in a row either.

I went for the Steelers, but I think Flacco is brilliant.

Posted this because...I voted, got friends to vote, and now I'm trying to get my mind off Tuesday.

I hate daylight savings time, and losing/gaining an hour of sleep 2x per year.

That's all I want to say.
I wrote my senator and congressperson a few years ago, too.
...and so does my poor dog who doesn't understand why her walks/feeding times have changed.
waaaaaa! I hate it!
