The reports are in, and President Joe Biden's economy is thriving, making Republicans nervous. After all, what else must they run on to gin up fear with their base? You have to give them one thing -- they're creative. In Alabama Rep. Jerry Carl's case, he said on Fox News that he spent $5.72 for two apples. I'm not sure where Mr. Fancy Pants buys his apples, but I got mine for 89 cents about a month ago with some pork chops on sale. I'm not fancy, though.
"Two apples in DC were $5.72 for those two apples," he insisted. "Now I don't know when the last time Joe Biden has been grocery shopping. but I suggest that he get out of his little penthouse up there and actually go grocery shopping."

Former President Donald Trump will be kicking off the new year with a "commit to caucus" campaign rally in Newton, Iowa on a historically significant date: January 6.
In an interview with the Daily Beast, Jasper County, Iowa Republican Party chairman Thad Nearmyer — a 52-year-old livestock farmer — said the date of the rally may very well be a nod to the deadly insurrection at the US Capitol that resulted in nine deaths and hundreds of injuries of US Capitol and DC Metropolitan police officers.
"When [the Trump campaign] first announced it was on Jan. 6, I didn't even think anything of it," Nearmyer told the Beast. "And then a little bit later it kind of occurred to me that that date has some significance... I would imagine [the insurrection] will get brought up by him."

GOP candidate demands Colorado Supreme Court justices be arrested for treason

An election-denying Republican congressional candidate demanded Colorado Supreme Court justices be arrested and tried for treason for disqualifying Donald Trump from the presidential primary in that state.
Trent Leisy, who is running for the GOP nomination in the race to succeed Rep. Ken Buck (R-CO), is organizing a Dec. 30 rally against what he called "four traitor justices" that will conclude at a Colorado Springs gun shop owned by an incendiary conservative activist, reported KUSA-TV.
“Since four of the all-Democrat-appointed Colorado Supreme Court justices have decided to betray our Constitution, attempt to take our rights away, and stop us from voting for Rightful President Trump, even if we write-in his name, they should definitely be tried for treason in a courtroom,” Leisy told the TV station in an email.

High-profile legal powerhouse and former Trump White House attorney Ty Cobb says the bombshell recordings of Donald Trump allegedly pressuring two Michigan election officials to refuse to certify the 2020 results for Joe Biden could put both the ex-president and Republican National Committee chair Ronna McDaniel at risk.
Cobb earlier this week predicted Trump would win unanimously at the U.S. Supreme Court when he appeals the Colorado Supreme Court's ruling that found he is ineligible to be on the state's ballot because he violated the 14th Amendment by engaging in insurrection.
“I think this case will be handled quickly. I think it could be 9-0 in the Supreme Court for Trump,” Cobb told CNN, as The Hill reported Tuesday. "I think the law is clear.”

Vowing to stop Republican Texas Gov. Greg Abbott from enforcing an anti-immigration law that "overrides bedrock constitutional principles" and that has already prompted travel advisories for people planning to visit the Lone Star State, the ACLU led civil rights groups on Tuesday in suing to block Senate Bill 4.
The national group led the ACLU of Texas and the Texas Civil Rights Project (TCRP) in challenging the law a day after Abbott signed it, permitting local and state law enforcement officers to arrest and detain people who they suspect of being undocumented immigrants.
Under the law, which is set to go into effect in March unless courts block it, state judges would also be empowered to order a person's deportation even if they were eligible to seek asylum or other protections under federal law.

As MSNBC's Lawrence O'Donnell laid out this Tuesday, an article written by Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh 25 years ago looks like bad news for Trump if they do indeed fast-track Jack Smith's to request to have them rule on Trump's claim of absolute immunity from prosecution.
As we already discussed here, Smith did an end-around on Trump's tactic of delay, delay, delay, and now it appears he's going to have another reason to be very worried about how all of this turns out for him.

Former Georgia election worker Ruby Freeman lashed out at Donald Trump on Wednesday in a defamation trial against Rudy Giuliani.
On the third day of Giuliani's trial, Freeman took the stand to testify to the harassment she received after the former New York mayor made her — and her daughter, Shaye Moss — the focus of a campaign to overturn the 2020 presidential election.
Following the 2020 election, Giuliani claimed Freeman and Moss had conspired to rig the vote.
