Source: Talking Points memo
President Donald Trumps administration is evaluating the future of the White House Council on Women and Girls and considering whether to keep or eliminate the council, according to several reports.
Politico on Friday reported that the council has gone dark while the White House decides its future, according to three unnamed senior White House officials.
ABC News reported on Friday, citing an unnamed senior White House official, that Trumps administration is debating the future of the council created by former President Barack Obama.
The White House is evaluating the best positioning of this office going forward, White House spokeswoman Hope Hicks told ABC News in a statement. We want the input of the various agencies to understand the assets they have so that we make this office additive, not redundant.

While out west the temps oared to 125 degrees in Phoenix and Palm Springs, and this yahoo running around trying to show that he won the popular vote, by having a commission trying to get private voter information, which violates the illegal search amendment on the Constitution in my opinion
Then running around some and doing more besmirching of a cable morning news host, and trying to "blackmail" her, and then there is the possible link of Flynn and a GOP operative and the hacking at the DNC and election being reported by the WSJ.
You can run dumpster, but you can't hide.........................

Calls for single payer grow louder at anti-Trumpcare protests
Source: Think Progress
Single payer! proved to be a rallying cry for demonstrators at an anti-Trumpcare protest on Capitol Hill this Wednesday, suggesting that a growing number of progressive activists want to go farther than simply preserving the Affordable Care Act. As high-profile Democrats such as Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (NY) and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (CA) made passionate speeches about the benefits of the ACA, some protesters responded with calls for a universal health care system.
This is a demand Democrats have heard in town halls and protests all over the country, and the message appears to be getting through. Democratic leaders and party strategists told the New York Times earlier this month that the party is shifting left on health care, and that the 2020 presidential nominee will probably back a broader version of coverage than any previous nominee.

Trump set to fill out FCC with another Republican commissioner
Source: Think Progress
President Donald Trump has nominated the FCCs general counsel Brendan Carr to be the agencys third Republican commissioner a move that could ensure the end of net neutrality regulations. Recode first reported the nomination, which the White House confirmed.
Carr was previously a telecom lawyer at the conservative-leaning Washington, D.C. law firm Wiley Rein, where he represented major companies such as AT&T and Verizon. He has also worked with telecom lobbying groups USTelecom and CTIA, which represents wireless communications companies, Recode reported.
Carr was also once an aide to current FCC Chairman Ajit Pai, the LA Times reported. Pai has initiated a rollback of the 2015 net neutrality rules that prohibit companies from prioritizing content and access in the form of fast and slow lanes for a cost.

I guess when the people helped fund the internet back in the day, we now get no say in how we want it to be protected and have net neutrality-----------------this is just plain wrong
Coal company loses war on coal case
Source: Thinkprogress.org
The Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals on Thursday overturned a lower courts ruling and determined that the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is appropriately analyzing the economic impact of regulations under the Clean Air Act.
The case was originally brought by Murray Energy Corporation and a group of subsidiaries and other coal companies, who alleged that the EPA failed to adequately report on how many coal jobs could be or were being lost due to Clean Air Act regulations. West Virginia and 12 other states intervened on behalf of the coal company.
John Walke, director of the Clean Air Project at the Natural Resources Defense Council, said the original case was unprecedented.
I think this court decision should stifle any future attempts by corporations to go to court to enforce generally programmatic responsibilities by the EPA, he said. An avenue for abuse and consumption of resources has been cut off.
The EPA is required by Congress to conduct continuing evaluations of potential loss or shifts of employment which may result from the administration or enforcement of its regulations under the Clean Air Act. But the Fourth Circuits decision found that Congress specifically intended to protect against judges meddling in the agencys complex processes. It also found that the EPAs requirements are broad and open-ended.

Pence: Obamacare Repeal Will Happen By End Of Summer
Source: Talking Points Memo
CLEVELAND (AP) Vice President Mike Pence on Wednesday reiterated a promise to repeal former President Barack Obamas health care reforms by the end of the summer despite uncertainty over whether a Republican bill has enough votes to pass the Senate.
In a speech delivered at a Cleveland manufacturing facility, Pence defended the bill, saying its measures to expand health savings accounts and create tax credits would make insurance more affordable. He said the legislation would cut costs for businesses and give states flexibility to tailor Medicaid programs to local needs.
(President Donald Trump) believes in state-based solutions, not one-size-fits-all Washington answers, Pence said.

Let The Caving Begin! Senate GOP Health Care Surrender Watch
Source: Talking Points Memo
The dynamics for Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) to corral 50 out of his 52 Republican senators into supporting his health care bill dont get much easier, now that hes delayed a vote on it for at least a week for another round of tweaks. The only difference in the competing demands McConnell is facing from his conference between the days before he announced he was delaying the vote and the days after is that theyre going more public with their negotiating requests.
If Senate Republicans pass their bill, the Better Care Reconciliation Act, something will have to give. And for something to give, someone is likely going to cave.
Heres a look at who is asking for what so that you can monitor who caves and on which of their own demands:

Trumps UN ambassador brags about slashing UN peacekeeping budget
Source: Think Progress
The deep cuts the Trump administration wants to make to the United Nations peacekeeping budget go too far even for Republicans, a number of whom expressed opposition to UN Ambassador Nikki Haley during an appropriations subcommittee hearing on Wednesday.
Some of these cuts are massive and just devastating, Rep. Kay Granger (R-TX) told Haley, according to Bloomberg. Our leadership is irreplaceable.
Rep. Hal Rogers (R-KY) described the cuts as severe and criticized the administration for not providing more details about its proposal, which would cut the USs share of the UN peacekeeping budget to about 25 percent of total costs from 28.5 percent currently, and reduce the UNs peacekeeping budget by 37 percent overall.

Climate kids to get their day in court against the Trump administration
Source: Think Progresss
The 21 youth plaintiffs suing the federal government over climate change will have their day in court, with a date for the trial now officially set for February 5, 2018.
Despite incessant efforts by government and industry to prevent our case from moving forward, the date is set for trial, Alex Loznak, a 20-year old plaintiff from Oregon, said in a press statement. Having seen some of the most damning evidence to be presented at trial, I am confident that our claims will prevail.
The case is the first to use a theory known as atmospheric trust law, which argues that the federal government, through actions like fossil fuel subsidies, has actively undermined the youths right to a livable climate. Atmospheric trust law is based on an old legal doctrine that holds that the federal government must preserve certainly commonly held elements, like shorelines and waterways, for public use. Applying public trust to the atmosphere, the plaintiffs argue that the government must also take steps to preserve the atmosphere from rampant greenhouse gas pollution.
