ACLU To Greg Abbott: See You In Court (Again)

ACLU Leads Legal Challenge to 'Dangerous' Texas Immigration Law

By Julia Conley — December 22, 2023

Vowing to stop Republican Texas Gov. Greg Abbott from enforcing an anti-immigration law that "overrides bedrock constitutional principles" and that has already prompted travel advisories for people planning to visit the Lone Star State, the ACLU led civil rights groups on Tuesday in suing to block Senate Bill 4.

The national group led the ACLU of Texas and the Texas Civil Rights Project (TCRP) in challenging the law a day after Abbott signed it, permitting local and state law enforcement officers to arrest and detain people who they suspect of being undocumented immigrants.

Under the law, which is set to go into effect in March unless courts block it, state judges would also be empowered to order a person's deportation even if they were eligible to seek asylum or other protections under federal law.

Maybe, just maybe the question that needs to be asked to everyone of these pin heads........ "what do they call themselves now......on the "right"....they should be called the "wrong" party......did you or your grandparents family history at one time or another were they not an immigrant into this country....yes or no........

1998 Kavanaugh Article Looks Like Bad News For Trump

As MSNBC's Lawrence O'Donnell laid out this Tuesday, an article written by Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh 25 years ago looks like bad news for Trump if they do indeed fast-track Jack Smith's to request to have them rule on Trump's claim of absolute immunity from prosecution.

As we already discussed here, Smith did an end-around on Trump's tactic of delay, delay, delay, and now it appears he's going to have another reason to be very worried about how all of this turns out for him.

As The Brennan Center for Justice discussed this week, former presidents are not immune from criminal prosecution:

'I'm a real person': Trump faces wrath of former election worker at Giuliani trial

By David Edwards
Published December 13, 2023 4:56 PM ET

Former Georgia election worker Ruby Freeman lashed out at Donald Trump on Wednesday in a defamation trial against Rudy Giuliani.

On the third day of Giuliani's trial, Freeman took the stand to testify to the harassment she received after the former New York mayor made her — and her daughter, Shaye Moss — the focus of a campaign to overturn the 2020 presidential election.

Following the 2020 election, Giuliani claimed Freeman and Moss had conspired to rig the vote.

Dear Miss Freeman......a narcissistic megalomaniac does not see anyone but himself in his case....remember, he said that he could stand on 5th avenue and shoot someone and no one would care......he has no comprehension that his asinine of saying that shows that he cannot think of that person has a family and friends ..... and they care..... this is how evil everyone of them are in his circle or lackey's......

'He's almost 80!' Giuliani lawyer blames his age for continued smears of election workers

By Brad Reed
Published December 12, 2023 9:29 AM ET

An attorney representing former Trump lawyer Rudy Giuliani on Tuesday blamed his client's age for his seemingly self-destructive decision to continue lobbing smears against defamed Georgia election workers Ruby Freeman and Shaye Moss.

According to Politico's Kyle Cheney, U.S. District Court Chief Judge Beryl Howell began the day's damages trial by scolding Giuliani for once again making baseless accusations against Freeman and Moss, despite the fact that he had already been found liable for defaming them after the 2020 presidential election.

Howell noted that Giuliani attorney Joe Sibley argued that both Freeman and Moss were "good people" who did not deserve to be falsely accused of stealing the 2020 election for President Joe Biden.

Howell, however, was not buying it and she noted that Giuliani appeared to be attentive throughout Monday's hearings.

"Can he follow instructions?" Howell asked Sibley.

"The answer, of course, is yes," Sibley replied.

'Clarence Thomas has no shame': Recusal seems unlikely as court takes up Trump appeal

By Travis Gettys
Published December 12, 2023 7:46 AM ET

The U.S. Supreme Court quickly agreed to hear Donald Trump's appeals in his federal election subversion case, but don't expect justice Clarence Thomas to recuse himself.

Special counsel Jack Smith asked the court to consider the case before an appellate court weighs in, and former U.S. attorney Barbara McQuade told MSNBC's "Morning Joe" that it was a smart tactic.

"I have to say, I didn't see it coming, but it is a really shrewd move on the part of Jack Smith," McQuade said. "He is trying to leapfrog the court of appeals. If this were to play out in the normal course, there could be a delay of many months, which would jeopardize the March 4 trial date. What Jack Smith is essentially saying is, 'Look, we all know this is the kind of question that's going to the Supreme Court anyway, there's no need to waste our time going to the court of appeals. It's a rare move, but it is not unprecedented. It's happened 49 times in the last 100 years. It's happened 25 times in the past five years."

And Roberts wonder's why the court is crap......in not being unbiased

'Hurting President Trump': Campaign slams claim 'loyalty-first cabinet' being built Kathleen Culliton December 8, 2023 4

Kathleen Culliton December 8, 2023 4:36 PM ET

Former President Donald Trump’s campaign Friday issued a typo-laden message attacking a recent, and jarring, report about his “loyalty first” cabinet shortlist: “These are an unwelcomed distraction,” it read.

The message arrived a day after Axios reported on a “loyalty-first cabinet” that anonymous sources said could include Tucker Carlson, Steve Bannon and Kash Patel.

“The media, in their anti-Trump zeal, has been all-to-willing [sic] to continue using anonymous sourcing and speculation about a second Trump administration in an effort to prevent a second Trump administration,” campaign advisers Susie Wiles and Chris LaCivita stated.

The former House Speaker might boomerang to Bakersfield and back to D.C. again.

In an interview with CBS News set to be aired Sunday, Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) dropped a suggestion that he'd join forces with former President Donald Trump, should he find a way back to the White House.

The network's chief election and campaign correspondent Robert Costa asked McCarthy if he would consider serving in a Trump cabinet seat.

The Minnesota GOP is broke and struggling to contain the fringe

By Deena Winter, Minnesota Reformer
Published December 8, 2023 3:26 PM ET

Minnesota Republicans haven’t won a statewide race since 2006, and thus far they have failed to recruit a serious 2024 challenger against U.S. Sen. Amy Klobuchar — likely because candidates don’t want to play the part of the sacrificial lamb.

During a Saturday meeting of the GOP State Central Committee, a group calling itself Rebuild the MNGOP will try to remove state party leaders, including party Chair David Hann.

They aren’t expected to succeed, but it counts as another distraction as the party tries to regroup following a series of electoral defeats culminating in the devastating 2022 election. That’s when Democrats won a surprising trifecta and spent the next six months turning Minnesota into a progressive model for the rest of the nation.

Lets think about this....Wisconsin is on fire because of the republicans and probably going broke in the next election cycle. Michigan and the fascist supporting republican party is broke.....don't let the proverbial door hit you in the ass.............good fucking riddance....

Mike Johnson Admits To Obstructing Justice By Altering J6 Video

The Speaker of the House is blurring faces in order to stop the DOJ from prosecuting them. I'm fairly sure that's called obstruction of justice.

By Karoli Kuns — December 5, 2023

Obstruction of justice is defined by Merriam-Webster as "the crime or act of willfully interfering with the process of justice and law especially by influencing, threatening, harming, or impeding a witness, potential witness, juror, or judicial or legal officer or by furnishing false information in or otherwise impeding an investigation or legal process.

One might imagine that altering real-time video of the January 6 insurrection in order to deter the DOJ from bringing charges against insurrectionists in the building might fit that definition, and is a crime committed against our democracy and the United States constitution. That's not something a Speaker of the House should do, am I right? After all, every one of those Representatives took an oath to "support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic" and "bear true faith and allegiance to the same."

Those January 6 rioters were there to stop the electoral vote count, also a violation of the Constitution. While many have been identified and prosecuted, many have not.

This little self righteous jerk took an oath to defend and protect the rule of law and this jerk is now second from the presidency.....let's really think about this.....this "guy" is just as dangerous as the mouth flapping classified document stealing jerk in Florida ......and there are many down in that state.....what exactly is the right wing fascists party platform......oh yeah take down a duly elected democracy .............and install the Heritage Foundation 2025...... fascists programs .....
