White House rushes to help Kentucky governor as new poll has him down 9 points

By
Oliver Willis -
August 28, 2019

Donald Trump Jr. is scheduled to visit Kentucky Thursday, following visits from both his dad and Mike Pence.

Kentucky's Republican Gov. Matt Bevin has received multiple visits from the Trump White House to boost his upcoming reelection campaign, hinting at an unusual level of GOP weakness in an extremely red state.

Vice President Mike Pence traveled to Kentucky three weeks ago and hailed Bevin for supposedly helping to fight against the opioid crisis. (Trump's administration has attempted to cut funding for treatment.)

Following in Pence's footsteps, Trump visited Kentucky last Wednesday to tout Bevin, praising him for doing "an incredible job" as a "truly great governor." Trump also helped Bevin raise money for his campaign at a party fundraiser.

Now Donald Trump Jr. is scheduled to visit Bevin in his home state on Thursday to hold a rally for the governor.

SO let's put this in perspective, that the media should be linking anyone that meets with this treasonous team.............you know the team presently running around the in the white house bilking millions from taxpayers, that, they, had invited Russian Spies to dilly dallying around the white house and giving up top secret information to spies, and no one knew anything about it until after the simple fact that the Russians published the pictures, with the coup d'é·tat .....................and these people, that are seeking re-election help from these traitors are not being asked point blank............................Do you think it shows your "patriotism" to be shaking hands with people that had Russian Spies in the oval office and they didn't tell anyone, and they gave state secrets to the spies during that visit..........................What do you think of that and what is your position today............................do you support that or not and do you want there help...........................

Mike Pence celebrates millions of Americans losing access to health care
By

Pence thinks millions of Americans no longer being able to get vital health care is 'winning.'

Mike Pence has been on a mission to take women's health care away from them since long before he became Trump's vice president. So it's not a surprise that he gleefully cheered when millions of people lost access to health care last week as a victory for his cause.

"Just last week, thanks to the strong stand for life President Trump has taken, tens of millions of dollars of federal family planning funding will no longer flow to the largest abortion provider in America," Pence said during a speech at the annual Faith & Freedom BBQ in South Carolina over the weekend.

But what Pence is celebrating is hardly a win for the millions of Americans who depend on Planned Parenthood for health care. Last week, the health care provider announced that it had been forced to withdraw from participating in Title X, the federal program that funds family planning services like birth control and health screenings for low-income Americans.

Current law already prohibits federal funds from being covering abortion, but that wasn't enough for the Trump administration. So under the new so-called gag rule, organizations that receive Title X funds are barred from even discussing abortion with their patients.

House candidate says women can be Republicans now because social issues no longer matter

Valerie Ramirez Mukherjee (R-IL) decries "identity politics" while running on her own identity.

A Republican congressional candidate went on Fox News Wednesday to highlight the large number of women from her party running in 2020. Her rationale: Women can now vote based on their fiscal conservatism because social issues are no longer a concern for anyone.

Valerie Ramirez Mukherjee (R) is running to challenge Rep. Brad Schneider (D) next November in the Illinois 10th Congressional District. With Republicans making up less than one-sixth of the record number of women serving in the 116th Congress, the GOP has been attempting to emphasize the women running in 2020 at various levels of government.

Despite the many polls showing women now increasingly and overwhelmingly leaning Democratic, Ramirez Mukherjee said on Wednesday that — after two and a half decades — women are no longer hiding their Republican views because social issues are no longer a factor.

“When I first got involved in politics at UC Berkeley, we went into hiding. Our country fought over social issues and that divided us as a country and as a party,” she said.

Ramirez Mukherjee then contradicted her claim that social issues no longer matter, saying, “The topics we are talking about around reproductive health, around family, around education, around safety, climate — those are things that I feel someone that has a different background, a different professional background, comes from somewhere else. It gives a perspective that others don’t have at the table currently.”

Just a reminder about David Gilmore of Pink Floyd........and ........ClientEarth...............

David Gilmour donates proceeds from guitar auction to ClientEarth

Musical legend David Gilmour has donated the money raised from the sale of his collection of classic guitars to ClientEarth, to support our efforts to fight the climate crisis. The auction of the Pink Floyd guitarist’s collection took place on 20th June at Christie’s in New York and included more than 120 guitars.

Commenting on the announcement, David Gilmour said: “The global climate crisis is the greatest challenge that humanity will ever face, and we are within a few years of the effects of global warming being irreversible. I hope that the sale of these guitars will help ClientEarth in their cause to use the law to bring about real change.”

“We need a civilised world that goes on for all our grandchildren and beyond in which these guitars can be played and songs can be sung.”

BP to quit Alaska after 60 years with $5.6 billion sale to Hilcorp

Source: Reuters

4 Min Read

(Reuters) - British oil major BP Plc (BP.L) on Tuesday agreed to sell all its Alaskan properties for $5.6 billion to privately held Hilcorp Energy Co, exiting a region where it operated for 60 years.

The deal, which includes interests in the most prolific oil field in U.S. history at Prudhoe Bay, and the 800-mile (1,300-km) Trans Alaska Pipeline, is part of BP’s plan to raise $10 billion over the next two years through asset sales to further strengthen its balance sheet, it said.

For years, BP has been reducing its role in Alaska, where oil production for fallen with declines at the Prudhoe Bay field. BP, which began working in Alaska in 1959, is the operator and holds a 26% stake in Prudhoe, where production began in 1977.

In 2014, BP sold Hilcorp half its share of an Alaskan project. This year, the two were due to decide whether to go ahead with an ambitious $1.5 billion offshore project that requires construction of a manmade island.

Trump repeats relief funding lie as Tropical Storm Dorian approaches Puerto Rico

The president claims $92 billion has been distributed to Puerto Rico. It's only been a fraction of that.

President Donald Trump is already trying to avoid responsibility for providing relief aid to Puerto Rico for a storm that hasn’t even impacted the island yet. In a tweet Tuesday, Trump repeated a lie that the island territory has already received far more aid than it actually had, and seemed to blame Puerto Rico for its own fate.

“Will it ever end?” Trump wrote, seemingly speaking more about the relief costs than the catastrophic weather. “Congress approved 92 Billion Dollars for Puerto Rico last year, an all time record of its kind for ‘anywhere’.”

Earlier this year, Trump claimed that Puerto Rico had received $91 billion, so he seems to have inflated the number by a billion. But his claim that Puerto Rico had already received that much money, or that it had otherwise been spent — as insinuated again by his tweet Tuesday — is demonstrably false. The federal government’s own records tell a very different story.

It’s true that Congress has allocated a large sum of money, but that was still only around $42 billion — $50 billion short of Trump’s latest number................................. .

Hey media next time this jerk is standing out on the south portico getting ready to take-off.................ask him where did he come up with this LIE.......................hold him accountable.........................keep calling him a LIAR, to his face......................

Paul Ryan will now profit off his failures to strip healthcare from millions of Americans

As Speaker of the House, Ryan tried to take away coverage from 23 million Americans.

As Speaker of the House, Paul Ryan (R-WI) was best known for his repeated attempts to repeal the Affordable Care Act (commonly known as Obamacare) and take away health insurance coverage from tens of millions of Americans. Now a private citizen, Ryan is about to profit from his own legislative failures.

According to his hometown paper, Ryan has joined the board of directors at SHINE Medical Technologies. The Janesville-based company makes molybdenum-99, a radioactive isotope used to illuminate bones and body tissue in medical tests — the sorts of tests typically paid for by health insurance plans.

In a statement announcing the news, the company’s CEO Greg Piefer said the former 10-term congressman and 2012 vice presidential nominee “will provide critical guidance to SHINE as we expand into domestic and international markets that require deep mastery of global policy, economics and leadership.”

Ryan said he was “excited to be joining SHINE’s board at this important time in the company’s development.”

Retiring Congressman Duffy to rely on pre-existing condition protections he voted to repeal

Despite pledging not to, Duffy voted to roll back the protections he plans to use after his ninth child is born.

Rep. Sean Duffy (R-WI) announced on Monday that he will soon resign his House seat, citing family reasons. He and his wife, Fox News contributor Rachel Campos-Duffy, said their soon-to-be born ninth child will require heart surgery soon after her birth.

On Tuesday, Duffy explained that he had made sure the child will have access to health insurance despite her pre-existing conditions.

It is laudable that the Duffy family is preparing to provide as much care as possible for a child with serious medical challenges. But as a congressman, Duffy voted to take away those same important protections for others with pre-existing conditions — directly contradicting his own campaign promises.

The couple went on Fox News on Tuesday morning to explain their decision and situation. Both discussed the challenging schedule a member of Congress must endure and expressed their commitment to being present for their family.

Native Americans had their 2020 Democratic campaign forum. Here, in pictures, is how it went.

The candidates addressed issues of critical importance to Native communities, including ballot access and sovereign land rights

SIOUX CITY, IOWA — No one knew quite what to expect when Native American activists organized their first-ever presidential forum this week.

How many candidates would attend? How read in would they be about the issues of greatest concern to indigenous people? How many would present fleshed-out programs pertaining to Native American concerns?

One day after the forum in Sioux City, Iowa, tribal members have their answer. They say the two-day political event went better than they expected.

“Having 11 presidential candidates participate the best they could reflects the understanding that the Native vote has an impact on national elections,” said Brandon Stevens, vice chairman of the Oneida Nation in Wisconsin.
