Colin Kaepernick's NFL exile continues as another team owner backs away

Colin Kaepernick’s hopes of playing in the NFL again have been hurt by the Baltimore Ravens owner Steve Bisciotti, according to a report.

ESPN’s Dianna Russini said John Harbaugh, the team’s head coach, and general manager Ozzy Newsome are keen on recruiting Kaepernick as a backup to their starting quarterback Joe Flacco, but Bisciotti has blocked the move.

It’s doubtful Bisciotti objects to Kaepernick as a player: the quarterback led San Francisco to Super Bowl XLVII, and threw 16 touchdowns with four interceptions in 12 games for the 49ers last season – a far better ratio than many starting quarterbacks in the league.

But his refusal to stand for the national anthem in protest against police brutality and racial injustice became a far bigger story than his on-field performance, and he was accused by some NFL fans of being unpatriotic and disrespectful to the military. Baltimore, close to the United States naval academy in Annapolis, has ties to the military.

So let me get this straight, the worthless ravens and other NFL teams that take money from tax payers to build stadiums, and other venues, think that it is just fine and dandy to violate the first amendment of individuals, because after all the single owners of the team are god, jury and executioner, and they get a lot of tax breaks off the tax payer to discriminate against someone, because of some anthem

Well guess what, the f*cking anthem is racists

Luther Strange: Alabama did the right thing by not expanding Medicaid

Alabama “did the right thing” to help low-income and disabled people in the state by not expanding its Medicaid program, according to Sen. Luther Strange (R-AL).

“We have a failing Medicaid system, and you know who that’s going to hurt in the end are the most vulnerable in people in our society,” Strange said in an interview Sunday.

But the very next day, President Donald Trump’s own Commission on Combating Drug Addiction and the Opioid Crisis contradicted the freshman senator and and recommended increased Medicaid spending, calling it “the single fastest way to increase treatment availability across the nation.”

That first set of comments from this ass*** says everything about the mentality of walking, talking death panel republican provider. And speak volumes of being a total idiot by saying what he said and why he should be impeached, this is just reprehensible to say that it "helped" by denying coverage to the poor, disabled, what kind of f*cked up logic is that, I mean really.

I cannot emphasize enough how someone can stand in front of a camera or any where and stand on his or her soap box and say:

Alabama “did the right thing” to help low-income and disabled people in the state by not expanding its Medicaid program, according to Sen. Luther Strange (R-AL).

North Carolina not required to hold special election to fix racial gerrymandering, court rules

A federal court on Monday declined to order North Carolina to hold a special election before 2018 under new maps that do not pack black voters. Instead, the court simply ordered that new electoral maps be drawn by September 1.

In 2011, the North Carolina legislature redrew the boundaries of its election districts in a way that unconstitutionally harmed black voters. The legislature packed black voters into as few districts as possible, giving them less political influence. Since then, the illegally constituted legislature has passed a ban on local minimum wage increases, tax cuts for corporations, the notorious HB2 that limits civil rights protections for transgender people, and a 2013 voter suppression law that another court found targeted black voters “with almost surgical precision.”

Despite the damage done, a panel of three federal judges on Monday reversed a 2016 federal court order requiring special elections.

This ruling should be a wake-up call to everyone that in the near future the United States Supreme Court is going to rule and make a decisions on gerrymandering on a national basis, and with Roberts and others in charge-------------watch out, we need to start putting political and ground game pressure on this court-----------------I do not trust Roberts, his past speaks volumes, look no further than the Holder vs Shelby Case and the gutting the voting rights act

Alabama restored voting rights to thousands of former felons, but they may never know

Alabama does not have to notify tens of thousands of former felons that they recently regained the right to vote, a federal judge ruled Friday. The judge also found that the state does not have to automatically restore voting rights to citizens who tried to register but were denied before the state’s law regarding felon disenfranchisement changed this year.

In May, Gov. Kay Ivey (R) signed a bill defining “moral turpitude,” a century-old, white supremacist phrase in the state constitution that had been used to allow county registrars to arbitrarily block former felons convicted of certain crimes from voting. In practice, the law was used to disenfranchise more than 250,000 Alabamans, most of them black.

After Ivey signed HB 282, Alabama Secretary of State John Merrill (R) said he would not dedicate resources to educating people about the change. In an interview with ThinkProgress, he said he has not heard from anyone who is being denied access to the polls and compared voting to a privilege, like receiving free ice cream. Arguing that Merrill’s logic is flawed, the Campaign Legal Center filed a request on behalf of ten former felons asking the state to educate and inform people affected by the new law that they can now vote.

So to all the folks in Alabama, write letters to the newspapers, and put flyers on telephone poles and in doors, since your government down there doesn't want to inform the public of this change

Trump is about to make America much crueler to unionized workers

Source: Think Progress

Since Election Day, unions have lived on borrowed time. The National Labor Relations Board (NLRB), which has exclusive authority over many key questions of labor law, is still controlled by Democrats — thus shielding workers and their unions from attacks that became far likelier the moment Donald Trump was declared the winner of the 2016 election.

But this period of interregnum is about to end. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) began the process of confirming the first of Trump’s two nominees to the NLRB on Monday. When both nominees sit on the Board, a swift rollback of union rights is likely.

As soon as this week, the Senate is likely to vote on Marvin Kaplan, the first of these two nominees. A former GOP Hill staffer, Kaplan drafted legislation—strongly supported by business lobby groups—which would have made it easier for employers to fight unionization campaigns.

And if anyone doesn't think that Unions are not the major players in wages and benefits, then look no further at what some state houses are trying to do to the federal minimum wage, they are tied to the NLRB. This picture does not look good and elections have consequences

Utilities companies won't let you sell your own solar power. Why not?

A new report from the US-based Energy and Policy Institute last week found that investor-owned utilities have known about climate change for nearly 50 years – and done everything in their power to stop governments from doing anything about it.

From their commitment to toxic fuels to their corrosive influence on our democracy to their attempts to price-gouge ratepayers, it’s long past time to bring the reign of privately-owned electric utilities to an end.

Recent findings about utilities mirror a 2015 investigation by Inside Climate News and the Los Angeles Times, in which reporters discovered that ExxonMobil – secretary of state Rex Tillerson’s former employer – had sponsored cutting-edge climate research as far back as the 1970s. Like Exxon, utility industry groups hired scientists to investigate the impact of carbon dioxide on the environment. Also like Exxon, they then proceeded to funnel millions into lobbying efforts and misinformation campaigns that cast doubt on those same scientists’ research.

A 1988 report from the Edison Electric Institute and the industry-backed Electric Power Research Institute advised that “climate changes possible over the next 30 years may significantly affect the electric utility industry”. A year later, the country’s investor-owned utilities had become enthusiastic members of the Global Climate Coalition, an international lobbying outfit whose crowning achievement was convincing George W Bush to withdraw from the Kyoto protocol.

NATO suffers casualties after Taliban attack in Afghanistan

Source: The Hill

A suicide bomber hit a NATO convoy Wednesday in southern Afghanistan, causing an unspecified number of casualties, the U.S. military confirmed.

The NATO-led mission Resolute Support “can confirm that a NATO convoy was attacked afternoon in Kandahar. The attack did cause casualties,” according to a mission statement.

The release did not provide the nationality of the troops attacked, only adding that the office is “working to gather additional information as quickly as possible and will release more details as appropriate.”

The Taliban took responsibility for the afternoon attack, claiming the bombing killed 15 soldiers and destroyed two armored tanks, the Associated Press reported.

Gingrich to GOP: Pass tax cuts or get ready for Speaker Pelosi

Source: The Hill

Former Speaker Newt Gingrich is urging Republicans to pass tax cuts, warning that failing to do so could result in voters coming together against Republican lawmakers.

"The specter of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is looming," Gingrich and Brad Anderson, former CEO of Best Buy and a member of the Job Creators Network, wrote in a piece published in USA Today.

"Following Republicans’ failure to fix the country’s health care system, polls show Americans are increasingly flirting with Democratic governance in Congress next year."

As a result, Republicans need to change their game plan, the two wrote.
"The next six months must not be the same as the last six months," the piece said.

"To regain their legislative momentum and keep their majority, Republicans must clearly demonstrate they are fighting for the country’s hardworking taxpayers. This means passing a major tax cut by Thanksgiving — and making it retroactive to the start of this year."

What the hell does it mean for hard working taxpayers?

Former Best Buy CEO Anderson, that has a house down in Naples, that is over 45,000 square feet, and has money off shored, what is his tax rate there zippy, what has he done to improve infrastructure in this country if he pays less than 15% on earned income tax credit, while I have to pay 33%.

Or does it mean that people and corporations can hide there profits in foreign accounts and not pay there taxes, but get the police, fire fighters, roads, teachers, hospitals and other items taken off the back of the people that can't park or hide there earnings off shore and pay there taxes, or better yet have business dealing with a Russian crime organization for 15% tax on earning, is this what you mean there Newt.

Or does it mean trickle down my leg economics? Have you taken a look at KANSAS lately and WisCONsin, there both failures ass**** with your Reagan economic BS.

Since your suppose to be some professor, have you taken a good hard look at what it was like to have people and businesses pay 90% tax on wealth, then down to 77% and now look at the what happened after that ----------------your an ass****, take your wife and go to the Vatican to repent.

OMB director: Tax reform looks weaker with Democrats on it

Source: The Hill

The White House budget director on Wednesday said tax reform looks "weaker" with Democrats on it.

During an interview on "Fox & Friends," Mick Mulvaney was asked if he thinks Republicans can get tax reform passed without needing the Democrats' votes.

"You have a choice. You can either try and do it with 50 votes in the Senate, using what's called budget reconciliation or 60 votes in the Senate without," he said.

"But my gut is that a tax bill looks a lot weaker — a lot less likely to get us to 3 percent economic growth — if we've got 8, 10, 12, 14 Democrats on it."
Mulvaney said tax reform is necessary to get the American economy back at 3 percent economic growth.

Zeldin says that Ivanka Trumps should be a US Senator

"That statement is just tough to swallow," Ruhle said.

"Well, yeah" Zeldin stuttered. "Ivanka obviously loves her father."

"I love mine too," Ruhle shot back.

"Ivanka Trump, she is super smart," Zeldin insisted. "She is highly capable in her own right. She could be a great United States senator."

"What are her credentials?" Ruhle wondered.

"She's got the full package," the congressman declared.

"What are her credentials to be a United States senator?" Ruhle repeated.

Zeldin pinned Ivanka Trump's Senate qualifications to the fact that she is a businesswoman who wants lower taxes.

"She makes all of her products overseas," Ruhle observed.

Co-host Ali Velshi agreed: "She does not make a single product in America. Does that not move you at all?"

Zeldin then argued that the interview was unfair.

"All of the sudden, it's one question after another, trying to get me to beat up on Ivanka Trump," he griped. "How is she qualified for United States senator? Making our tax code more competitive."

And you congressman should be assigned to washing my car you are a complete idiot, and I don't even think you could wash my car
