turbinetree's JournalTeacher Confronts Pruitt, Urges Him To Resign Before Scandals Force Him Out
By Kate Riga | July 3, 2018 7:40 am
Kristin Mink, teacher and mother, confronted EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt while he ate lunch Monday at a D.C. restaurant, urging him to resign before his many scandals force the issue.
We deserve to have somebody at the EPA who actually does protect our environment, somebody who believes in climate change and takes it seriously for the benefit of all of us, including our children, she said, holding her young son. I would urge you to resign before your scandals push you out.
According to video footage, Pruitt did not respond but listened, drumming his fingers on the table.
Mink wrote in her Facebook video post that Pruitt and his dining companion left the restaurant with a security detail before she had made it back to her seat.
Hes corrupt, hes a liar, hes a climate change denier, and as a public servant, he should not be able to go out in public without hearing from the citizens hes hurting, she wrote on the Facebook post.

GOP Rep. Gohmert Baselessly Claims That Rosenstein Could Be Spying On Him
By Kate Riga | July 3, 2018 10:48 am
Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-TX) is deeply concerned, for no discernible reason, that Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein is spying on him.
Fox News host David Asman said hed heard of Gohmerts worries about Rosenstein and asked for details Monday evening.
Ive been told in the past that there was great concern about who I saw, what I did, Gohmert said. That I was being monitored, and I was even told that you know everyone that walks into my office
After the 48-page expose I did on Mueller and holding people accountable that need to be accountable, I have to take these more seriously, that people have been telling me.
Gohmert offered up no evidence to back up his claims, though he did go on to call for Rosensteins firing.

Clarence Thomas is the most important legal thinker in America
The oft-misunderstood Justice has single-handedly reshaped the way conservatives think about the law. God help us.
IAN MILLHISER JUL 3, 2018, 8:00 AM
Justice Clarence Thomas is the most important legal thinker of his generation, and the most significant judicial appointment of the last forty years.
No justice did more to reshape the way thousands of the nations top lawyers think about the law. No justice did more to shape a political movements sense of what it can achieve through litigation. If President George H.W. Bush had chosen someone other than Clarence Thomas to sit on the Supreme Court, the world might look vastly different today.
And American democracy would be much safer.
There is a commonly held view that Thomas is an intellectual lightweight. Radical and far-too-quiet on the bench. Idiosyncratic and lacking in influence. A fairly persistent take on Thomas career holds that hes lived in the shadow of Justice Antonin Scalia, and his views were, at most, an exaggerated version of Scalias originalism.
This view of Thomas is wrong.

As of this writing, fully 20 percent of the judges Donald Trump appointed to the federal appellate bench are former Thomas clerks. Thomas lost the war for the present, but he is the future of legal conservatism. And he may soon be Americas future.
Republican senator wants to undermine the law that saved the bald eagle
Endangered Species Act supporters warn proposed bill would cripple the law.
MARK HAND JUL 2, 2018, 3:40 PM
Sen. John Barrasso (R-WY) released draft legislation on Monday that could severely undermine the Endangered Species Act (ESA), a hugely popular law that has helped save the bald eagle and thousands of other species from extinction.
The proposed legislation would shift key authority for conserving threatened and endangered species away from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to individual states. States would be granted authority to write species recovery goals, habitat objectives, and other criteria for delisting at-risk animals and plants under the ESA.
Many states, however, lack the resources to protect imperiled wildlife and plants. State governors, who often oppose protections for endangered species, also would be granted the power to veto scientific decisions about those protections.
This partisan bill is all about politics, at the expense of sound science and the species that depend on it for survival, Jamie Rappaport Clark, president and CEO of Defenders of the Wildlife, said Monday in a statement. It is a reckless power grab designed to wrest away authority from scientists and wildlife experts and give it to states that lack the resources and sometimes the political will needed to save wildlife from extinction.

The last time I checked the state of Wyoming has more antelope that are smarter than this Barraso asshole.
I just wonder while he is fingering through his latest oil bribes me money catalog on fracking and drilling, and how some ranchers want to poison eagles and other birds of prey, if he ever picked up the The Wyoming Magazine, the one that I have been getting for over 20 plus years, that even though the state has a conservation plan in place that it still needs federal resources......to protect the blackfooted ferret, or the eliminate invasive walley and pike in some lakes and streams
Why is America's leading liberal magazine publishing its pieces with a Russian propaganda outlet?
Pieces from The Nation are popping up on RT.

UPDATED: JUL 2, 2018, 6:17 PM
The past year and a half has been a busy one for RT. Early last year, the United States director of national intelligence described the outlet, formerly known as Russia Today, as Moscows principal international propaganda outlet. A few months ago, RT registered with the Department of Justice as a foreign agent.
And now, RT has a new contributor: Stephen Cohen, a contributing editor with liberal magazine The Nation.
A number of Cohens pieces from The Nation have been cross-posted on RTs website since January. A note at the bottom of each of the articles alerts readers that the piece in question was originally published by The Nation.
Many of the pieces fit within Cohens reputation as a vocal critic of the ongoing investigations into Russias interference efforts during the 2016 U.S. presidential election. The articles Cohen has published on RT also happen to fit within Moscows denials of any interference efforts.
To wit, Cohens most recent piece on RT described the ongoing investigations as the number-one threat to American national security, a reality for which the Democratic Party, though not solely, bears a very large responsibility. Another June piece noted that the core narrative of the ongoing investigations has always lacked actual evidence.

Cohens writings at The Nation have led to staffers at the magazine openly revolting against the magazines pro-Russian tilt, as The Chronicle of Higher Education summed last fall. (White supremacist David Duke has endorsed Cohen, and Dukes website wrote that Cohen has no peer in his ability to destroy the anti-Russia and anti-Putin lies.)
Now, it appears Cohens material is no longer confined to the pages of The Nation, but has begun extending to Russias most popular propaganda site as well.
UPDATE: After this articles publication, Cohen told ThinkProgress that RT had initially reached out to him with the cross-posting request, writing via email that RT correctly asked me and I personally gave it permission to re-post my Nation commentaries. He did not respond to ThinkProgress questions regarding potential concerns about publishing with RT.
As a subscriber to the oldest magazine in this country since July 6, 1865.................I am going to be emailing the magazine and ask them what the fuck................and I just voiced my concerns, Russia after all has been killing journalists, throwing people off buildings, and cyber attacking elections in this country and elsewhere.................

Donald Trump's Supreme Court Pick Can Be Blocked
It is possible that just one Republican vote could be enough (in combination with Democrats) to prevent a lurch to the right.
By John NicholsTwitter YESTERDAY 6:01 PM
Donald Trump, the weak and frightened president who makes his most important decisions based on lists provided to him by right-wing zealots and his corporate overlords, plans to name a nominee to replace Justice Anthony Kennedy on the US Supreme Court on July 9.
Mitch McConnell, the calculating US Senate majority leader who delayed deliberations on President Barack Obamas legitimate Supreme Court pick in order to steal a place on the bench, will put the confirmation of Trumps pick on a legislative fast track.
Trump and McConnell will try to overwhelm opposition with a shock-and-awe strategy that relies entirely on fostering a sense that their attempt to redefine the judicial branch of the federal government cannot be stopped.
But it can be stopped. This is the essential understanding that must be embraced by Americans who, in these unsettled times, seek to maintain the rough outlines of a system of checks and balances. Trumps nominee must be approved by McConnells Senate.
The majority leader will, of course, break every rule in order to thwart Democratic opposition. He will, as well, employ sly backroom strategies to pressure the Senates 51 Republicans to vote for the nominee Trump is expected to select from the vetted list of 24 judges (and Utah Republican Senator Mike Lee) that was assembled for him by political strategists for the special-interest groups that seek to forge an activist majority on a Supreme Court that can then dismantle essential protections for civil rights and civil liberties while increasing the power of corporations. No mystery there.
