Shady group trying to build Trump's wall begs radical militias for help

By
Lisa Needham -
June 18, 2019

Over the weekend, the group behind a move to crowdfund a portion of Trump's wall asked heavily armed right-wing militias to come hang out down at the border.

The shady group that is privately building a portion of Trump's unnecessary border wall has found some new allies: right-wing militias.

We Build the Wall (WBTW), the group that engaged in scammy fundraising to build a half-mile of the wall, spent the weekend reaching out to "armed right-wing groups."

Thus far, We Build the Wall has been disreputable and had bungled its wall-building efforts on multiple occasions, but it didn't seem to have veered into radical militia territory. That's changed now.

According to TPM, a Facebook video from Saturday shows a WBTW spokesperson giving Stewart Rhodes, the head of the Oath Keepers, a tour of the building site. The spokesperson, known as "Foreman Mike," explicitly called for right-wing groups to join them. "We're going to have a ceremony here, we'd like any of our Oath Keeper friends to come on in, any of our Three Percenter brothers, all of them."

Air Force landlord falsified records to boost income, documents show

A Reuters Special Report

One of the U.S. military’s largest private-industry landlords falsified maintenance records, Reuters found, helping it secure incentive fees as families awaited repairs. The company’s actions, a former employee said, were akin to “bank robbery at a corporate level.”

By M.B. PELL

TINKER AIR FORCE BASE, Oklahoma – When Paige and Nick Ippolito moved to a row house on this air base in 2015, the floors in the kitchen, living room and hallway were warped. They told the base’s landlord, Balfour Beatty Communities, but “nothing was done,” a company maintenance report shows.

Nick, a Navy petty officer second class stationed at Tinker, worried their baby daughter might lose a finger in the jagged flooring. After a water leak further broke up the floor, a company technician noted in a maintenance log that the eight-month-old “may become sick from chewing on pieces” breaking away from the flooring.

The floor tiles and adhesive contained asbestos, a carcinogen, an internal company maintenance report shows.

The official Balfour Beatty maintenance logs available to the Air Force indicate the company promptly addressed the problems. The leak, for instance, was fixed in 20 minutes, the records purport to show. In fact, the logs were faked. The family said that repair took over a week. The Ippolitos endured the other hazards for months.

“You think your family is safe, and then you find out your kid is eating asbestos flooring. It makes me sick,” Nick Ippolito said. “It seems like they’re just out for the dollar.”

Aerospace Worries As 'No-Deal' Brexit Remains In Play

Tony Osborne | Aviation Week & Space Technology Jun 12, 2019

British aerospace suppliers have found themselves frozen out of industry tenders, as the uncertainty about Britain’s departure from the EU continues.

Brexit may have been delayed until the end of October, but as Britain begins the hunt for a new prime minister following the resignation of Theresa May last month, there are questions about whether there will even be enough time to negotiate a new deal with Europe. There are only a handful of weeks available for parliamentary debates and negotiation before the Oct. 31 deadline.

Concern about the possibility of a “no-deal” Brexit, a nightmare scenario for aerospace, prompted companies to shell out hundreds of millions of pounds on buffer stocks and contingency plans to maintain supply continuity to customers in the run-up to the original Brexit deadline of March 29.

A significant portion of those costs were unrecoverable, but more concerning is that UK-based suppliers have been prevented from participating in several tenders run by European and U.S. customers. Those suppliers “did not know the commercial terms on which they were going to be operating post-March 29 and April 12,” says Jeegar Kakkad, chief economist and director of policy at ADS, the UK aerospace, defense, security and space trade association.

Hong Kong leader signals end to extradition bill but refuses to quit

Source: Reuters

HONG KONG (Reuters) - Hong Kong leader Carrie Lam on Tuesday signaled the end of a controversial extradition bill that she promoted and then postponed after some of the most violent protests since the former British colony returned to Chinese rule in 1997.

In a closely watched press conference, Lam apologized for the turmoil but refused to say the bill would be “withdrawn”, only that it wouldn’t be re-introduced during her time in office if public fears persist.

This was the strongest indicator yet that the government was effectively shelving legislation that would allow people to be extradited to mainland China to face trial, even if it fell short of protester demands for the government to scrap the bill altogether.

“Because this bill over the past few months has caused so much anxiety, and worries and differences in opinion, I will not, this is an undertaking, I will not proceed again with this legislative exercise if these fears and anxieties cannot be adequately addressed,” Lam told reporters.

At least the Hong Kong population should be an inspiration to the citizens of this country and showing people here that we also can do this against the criminal enterprise infested with enablers in this country..............................

Trump completely loses it after admitting he'd collude with hostile powers again in 2020

By

Trump is on an unhinged, lie-filled Twitter rant after admitting he'd illegally collude with foreign governments in 2020.

Trump is doing the only thing he knows how to try to clean up his admission that he'd illegally collude with hostile foreign powers to win reelection in 2020: firing off a series of unhinged and lie-filled tweets.

In fact, Trump's Twitter feed on Thursday morning is as insane as ever, as he tries to lie his way out of yet another mess.

Trump's tweets began before 7 a.m. Eastern, trying in vain to turn the focus away from him and back on Democrats, whom he falsely accused of trying to "embarrass" the Trump administration by holding members of the Cabinet in contempt instead of legislating. (At least, that's what this three-tweet thread seems to be about, though deciphering Trump is always an adventure.)

In fact, Democrats are moving to hold Trump officials such as Attorney General William Barr, former White House counsel Don McGahn, and Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross in contempt because the three men have flagrantly ignored legally binding subpoenas that require them to hand over documents to Congress as part of legitimate oversight investigations.

GOP leader says Trump wouldn't allow foreign interference right after Trump said he would

By

June 13, 2019

Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy said Trump would do the opposite of what Trump said he would do.

On Thursday morning, Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy defended Trump's admission that he would collude with foreign governments by saying there is no way Trump would actually do what he said.

"I think if you ask the president, he would be very clear about it — not allowing any foreign countries to interfere in our elections," McCarthy said at his weekly press conference.

In fact, when Trump was asked about foreign interference in our elections, he was very clear that he would welcome it.

"I think I'd take it," Trump said Wednesday when asked how he would deal with countries like Russia or China offering dirt on his political opponents.

McConnell refuses to secure elections as Trump begs foreign governments to interfere

By
Dan Desai Martin -
June 13, 2019

Mitch McConnell is standing idly by as Trump undermines the foundations of American democracy.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell refuses to move any legislation dealing with election security, even after Russia attacked the foundations of American democracy in 2016, according to a Friday New York Times report.

McConnell reportedly told colleagues he has no plans to move any bills that would make elections more secure, including measures to help state and local governments do so.

Describing him as a "one-man road block," the Times reports that McConnell is even blocking bipartisan measures, such as those that would improve information sharing practices between federal and state agencies and provide incentives for states to use paper ballots.

On reason McConnell won't bring up the measures: Talking about election security makes Trump feel insecure because, according to the Times, Trump "views almost any talk of Russia's success as questioning the legitimacy of his 2016 victory.

Top Republican: It's OK if Trump says he'd collude with Russia since it's 'hypothetical'

By

June 13, 2019

House Minority Whip Steve Scalise defended Trump's admission of being open to colluding with foreign powers, saying it was 'hypothetical.'

Let the parade of GOP lawmakers twisting themselves into pretzels to defend their unethical and immoral leader commence.

On Thursday morning, House Minority Whip Steve Scalise sought to defend Trump's admission that he's open to illegally colluding with hostile foreign powers — such as Russia and China — in order to win reelection in 2020.

Scalise did so by saying that Trump was just discussing a "hypothetical" situation — as if that's true or somehow makes Trump's admission acceptable.

"I have been in many situations with [POTUS] where how he responded to a hypothetical question was treated very differently when he actually had to deal with a specific problem," Scalise said, according to Elizabeth Crisp, a reporter at the local Louisiana newspaper the Advocate. "How you deal with it in a hypothetical is different because it's not real."

Oklahoma senator says House doesn't deserve a COLA adjustment because its bills go nowhere

Source: Think Progress

Low pay for lawmakers can be a factor in political corruption.

Josh Israel

Sen. James Lankford (R-OK) took aim at an effort by Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) and other lawmakers to allow a cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) for members of Congress for the first time in a decade, saying that the House doesn't deserve a "merit bonus" for their "inactivity."

Lankford is part of Sen. Mitch McConnell's (R-KY) Republican majority in the Senate, which has helped block any legislative action whatsoever on dozens of important bills that lawmakers in the House have passed, and turned the chamber into what Senate Democrats have taken to calling a "legislative graveyard." But he said on Tuesday that the House does not deserve more pay because they have not enacted enough legislation.

Most members of the House of Representatives earn $174,000 each year -- a figure that has been unchanged since 2009. Since the 27th Amendment prevents Congress from raising its own salary during its term, lawmakers adopted a law in 1989 automatically adjusting member's salaries to keep up with the cost of living annually.

But with low public approval ratings, members often vote to waive that pay raise -- a move that may be politically wise, but which has helped keep those who are not independently wealthy out of Congress. Conservative estimates find that the average net worth of a member of Congress is over $1 million.

Well Lankford according to OpenSecrets.org your really getting a lot of money from entities that like to pad ones coffers correct.......................do you think that maybe this is also some form of corruption at its finest.........................I think so, and so does Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), makes sense to me and her...................but your fascist ilk don't see it that way correct......................you have a who's who on your list, that instill your libertarian federalist society ethos correct, but your just fine packing the courts to really fuck people over when they get on the bench correct, with your dead beat fucking corrupt senate leader Mitch (turtle) McConnell, making over 225,000 a year doing nothing..........................

Update;
Now I wonder with the latest from the traitor if he will support him......................someone should ask Lankford that question............................and if he gives it the he doesn't know bullshit........................then ask would he call the FBI if a foreign agents made contact with him...................

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez scorches Kris Kobach at Census hearing: 'I want to know about the racism'

Source: Raw Story

Published 2 hours ago on June 12, 2019

By David Edwards

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) on Wednesday lambasted the Trump administration and former Kansas Secretary of State Kris Kobach for a plot to include a citizenship question on the census.

At a House Oversight hearing, Ocasio-Cortez demanded to get to the bottom of how the Trump administration short-circuited the process of creating a census so that the citizenship question could be included.

“The Census is a constitutionally mandated operation that we are required to implement every 10 years,” she told the committee. “Any change to the census — the addition of a question — usually takes five years of a process to make sure that it is vetted, that every word has been tested, to make sure that it is effective because it is one of the most important things that we do.”

According to the congresswoman, more than two years were “shaved off” the census process.
