Trump's new intelligence director has zero intelligence experience

Richard Grenell has never worked in any intelligence agency, but he has spent thousands at Trump's hotel chain and earned himself a loyalty 'Trump Card.'

Donald Trump on Thursday officially appointed Richard Grenell to be acting director of national intelligence, putting a man with zero intelligence experience in charge of the country's intelligence agencies.

Grenell currently serves as the U.S. ambassador to Germany. And because he has already been confirmed by the Senate in that role, the law says Trump can move him to any other role within the government without needing to go before the Senate again for approval.

And that works out for Trump, as Grenell — who became well known as a Twitter troll for feuding with reporters on the social media platform — might have a hard time earning confirmation for a job he has no experience in.

"Ambassador Grenell was confirmed to his role as Ambassador by the Senate in April 2018, and he has years of experience working with our Intelligence Community in a number of additional positions, including as Special Envoy for Serbia-Kosovo Negotiations and as United States spokesman to the United Nations," White House press secretary Stephanie Grisham said in a statement on Thursday.

Judge holds Trump administration in contempt for deporting immigrant children

A judge said the government couldn't deport five young immigrants. The government deported them anyway.

A federal judge has found the U.S. government in contempt after authorities deported five young immigrants who were seeking to remain in the country under a program for abused and neglected immigrant children.

U.S. Magistrate Judge Nathanael Cousins issued the civil order Friday after finding the Department of Homeland Security and U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services violated a 2018 preliminary injunction that required them to notify lawyers of any enforcement action against the young immigrants in a class-action lawsuit in California.

Despite the preliminary injunction, five immigrants who were seeking to stay in the United States under a federal government program for abused immigrant children were deported, and one of them was reportedly assaulted.

Mary Tanagho Ross, appellate staff attorney at Public Counsel's Immigrants' Rights Project, said she learned of the deportations months after one of the immigrants was back in Guatemala, where he was attacked by gang members.

Barr's Message: Threats To Kill Witnesses To Help Trump Will Be Rewarded

No matter what the sentence is that the judge gives to Roger Stone, Bill Barr has already sent a message to the Department of Justice and the general public:

"Threatening witnesses to help Trump won't be punished. Loyalty to Trump will be rewarded."

Threatening witnesses is not a joke. Even if the person who made them looks like a cartoon villain. Even if the person who they were directed at, Randy Credico, said that he didn't take them seriously and didn't want Stone sent to jail. The original prosecutors decided and, the parole officers agreed, that the sentencing guidelines of 7 to 9 years for Stone was appropriate.

People need to know that the death threats to Randy Credico were part of a 2 YEAR CAMPAIGN to intimidate him. That includes kidnapping his dog who is his service support animal.

After Trump issued his imbecilic pardons yesterday, the Tuesday evening lineup on Fox News state-sponsored Trump TV went virtually mum on the entire issue because it's pretty much indefensible and is the essence of filling the swamp with scumbag criminals who give a middle finger to public trust.

Reed Richardson highlighted the entire evening schedule and how state TV handled it and it is quite revealing.

Destroying the stock markets, preying on the voting population and using high office to enrich themselves are all now "nonviolent offenses" covered by Saint Trump's criminal justice reform measure which was bipartisan, wholly incremental and nothing he actually participated in.

And then we come to Bernard Kerik, a constant presence on Fox News back in the day.

But a new book argues that, when it comes to dogs, the word is necessary to understanding what has made the relationship between humans and our best friends one of the most significant interspecies partnerships in history.

Clive Wynne, founder the Canine Science Collaboratory at Arizona State University, makes the case in “Dog is Love: Why and How Your Dog Loves You.”

The animal psychologist, 59, began studying dogs in the early 2000s, and, like his peers, believed that to ascribe complex emotions to them was to commit the sin of anthropomorphism — until he was swayed by a body evidence that was growing too big to ignore.

Bolton, speaking alongside Susan Rice at a lecture series at Vanderbilt University, was taken to task by his co-speaker, who served as national security adviser under Barack Obama.

Rice criticized Bolton for refusing to testify before the House of Representatives during the impeachment hearings. It later emerged that Bolton has documented, in a forthcoming book, evidence regarding Trump and Ukraine that Democrats had sought him to provide on the record.

“I can’t imagine withholding my testimony with or without a subpoena,” Rice said at the Vanderbilt event, according to CNN reporter Jennifer Hansler.

Mitch McConnell is blocking action on voters' top two priorities

Polling shows that drug prices and health care affordability are the top issues for Americans. Mitch McConnell is blocking legislation to address both.

The top concerns for American voters going into the 2020 elections are health care affordability and drug costs, according to a new poll. But legislation from the House of Representatives to address these concerns is currently being blocked in the U.S. Senate by Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY) and his GOP majority.

The Politico-Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health survey, released Wednesday, found about 80% of those surveyed identified "taking steps to lower the cost of health care” as either "very" or "extremely" important. Reducing prescription drug costs was deemed "very" or "extremely" important by 75%. The two issues ranked as the highest priorities for voters out of 22 possible issues.

Last May, the Democratic-controlled House of Representatives passed H.R. 987, the Strengthening Health Care and Lowering Prescription Drug Costs Act. It included provisions to stop the Trump administration's sabotage of the Affordable Care Act (commonly known as Obamacare), help fund state health insurance marketplaces, and improve transparency.

In December, it passed H.R. 3, the Elijah E. Cummings Lower Drug Costs Now Act. That legislation would implement an unkept Donald Trump campaign promise to let the federal government negotiate with pharmaceutical companies on the cost of prescription drugs for Medicare, restrict price hikes, and limit out-of-pocket costs.

Elizabeth Warren is in third place in the polls but that didn't stop NBC News/WSJ from failing to poll her in a head-to-head matchup against Trump.

You can’t make this stuff up: A new NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll chose five Democratic candidates to test against Donald Trump in a new national poll. Elizabeth Warren, who is tied for third in the poll, wasn’t one of them. Instead, the outlets opted to test two candidates running below her—Pete Buttigieg and Amy Klobuchar. Here’s the national rankings (compared to candidates’ movement since their January poll).

Florida's latest voter suppression tactic ruled unconstitutional by federal court

A federal court ruled that Florida cannot force former felons to repay their court costs before getting their right to vote back.

A federal appeals court on Wednesday struck down Florida's modern-day poll tax — a major victory for voting rights in America.

The ruling stems from the court battle over Florida's Amendment 4, a constitutional amendment approved by more than 64% of Florida voters in 2018.

The amendment gave the right to vote back to 1.4 million people in Florida with felonies after completion of their parole or probation.

However, after the amendment passed, Republicans in control of the state legislature passed a law, S.B. 7066, requiring felons to settle their debts — including restitution, fines, and other legal fees — before being allowed to vote.

Critics — including the American Civil Liberties Union, the Brennan Center for Justice, and the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund — said the law amounted to a poll tax, which have been used historically to suppress the African American vote, and they sued the state saying the law was unconstitutional.
