Comedian Seth Meyers scolded Republicans for the latests defenses of President Donald Trump.
The host played a clip of Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) on Fox News.
“You have to accept that President Trump is president,” Graham said. “That’s the problem, they don’t accept that President Trump won the election and America hates a sore loser as much as any country on the planet.”
“This is an unfair process being driven by sore-losers,” Graham added.
Meyers fact-checked the South Carolina Republican.

David Cay Johnston details what prosecutors will do when they get the president's tax returns

On Monday, the Second Circuit Court of Appeals rejected President Donald Trump’s claim that he was immune from all criminal investigation as president, allowing New York State prosecutors to obtain several years’ worth of his tax returns.
On CNN’s “Anderson Cooper 360,” Pulitzer Prize-winning Trump biographer David Cay Johnston walked through what the prosecutors will likely do with the information they obtain.
“David, if this decision stands, you say that President Trump could have a serious problem once a Manhattan grand jury gets the tax documents,” said Cooper. “What do you believe that they could show?”
“Well, Donald lost two income tax fraud trials,” said Johnston. “And in one of those trials, the tax return introduced in the case was shown to his long-time now-retired tax preparer, Jack Mitnick, who testified that that was his signature on the document, but he did not prepare that tax return. Donald has a long history of filing inconsistent documents with different government agencies. [Manhattan DA] Cy Vance’s grand jury has access to the New York State Tax Authority records. And I suspect they’re going to compare them to the Mazars records to see if Trump altered the tax returns he filed, which would be fraud, in all likelihood.”

A year out from his next Election Day, the Rust Belt revival Trump promised isn't materializing.
Donald Trump once promised that coal and steel would be the beating heart of a revived U.S. economy — a nostalgic vision that helped carry him to victory three years ago in the industrial Midwest.
But a year away from Election Day, that promised renaissance is not materializing and both sectors are faltering in ways that are painfully familiar and politically significant.
Recent data shows manufacturing jobs are disappearing across Pennsylvania, Michigan and Ohio, states critical to Trump's reelection chances. On Tuesday, Murray Energy, a major mining firm with close ties to the president, became the latest of many coal companies to file for bankruptcy this year, rattling communities across Ohio, West Virginia and Kentucky. The news followed recent layoffs at a prominent steel manufacturer in northeastern Ohio and General Motors' final decision this fall to shutter its massive plant at Lordstown, Ohio.
The turmoil in the manufacturing and mining sectors threatens to undermine Trump's claim to a booming economy — the bedrock of his and his Republican allies' campaign strategy — in places where it matters most. While Trump's economy is benefiting high-tech manufacturing and energy sectors in other regions, the manufacturing slump across the Rust Belt may test whether Trump can retain his appeal to blue-collar workers without having fully delivered on his promise to fatten their bank accounts.

Lawyers and accountants for the UK’s richest families said they had been deluged with calls from millionaire and billionaire clients asking for help and advice on moving countries, shifting their fortunes offshore and making early gifts to their children to avoid the Labour leader’s threat to tax all inheritances above £125,000.
The advisers said a Corbyn-led government was viewed as a far greater threat to the wealth and quality of life of the richest 1% than a hard Brexit.
Geoffrey Todd, a partner at the law firm Boodle Hatfield, said many of his clients had already put plans in place to transfer their wealth out of the country within minutes if Corbyn is elected.

Trump says more information soon to be released about White House's Vindman

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. President Donald Trump said Saturday that more information would be released shortly about Alexander Vindman, the U.S. official who told Congress he was concerned that Trump’s call with Ukraine’s leader threatened national security.
Vindman, a U.S. Army lieutenant colonel and National Security Council official, has been targeted by Trump since his Oct. 29 congressional testimony was released. Trump tweeted that day that Vindman was a “Never Trumper witness.”
Asked whether he regrets calling the Vindman a “Never Trumper,” Trump told reporters on Saturday, “Well, you’ll be seeing very soon what comes out and then you can ask the question in a different way.”
Vindman sat in on the July 25 call between Trump and Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskiy that spurred the House of Representatives’ impeachment investigation.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. Energy Secretary Rick Perry, a member of President Donald Trump’s Cabinet who has played a pivotal role in the Ukraine controversy, will refuse to testify as requested next week in the Democratic-led impeachment inquiry against Trump, an Energy Department spokeswoman said on Friday.
Perry’s refusal represented the latest instance of Trump’s administration refusing to cooperate in the fast-moving inquiry in the House of Representatives.
Trump said on Oct. 17 that Perry was resigning from his Cabinet post and would step down by the end of the year.
Perry, White House budget office acting director Russell Vought and two other officials were asked to testify on Wednesday next week in a closed session before the three House committees leading the inquiry, an official working on the probe said.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Democrats in the U.S. Congress took a major step toward impeaching President Donald Trump this week when they agreed on the rules for publicly televised hearings after weeks of testimony behind closed doors. But it is also a step onto more politically perilous terrain for a party seeking to persuade Americans that their cause to remove Republican Trump, who they accuse of abusing his power, is just.
Leaders of the Democratic-run U.S. House of Representatives believe that putting the main witnesses on TV will convince independent voters and other doubters that Trump was wrong in asking the Ukrainian government to dig up dirt on a political rival, Democrat Joe Biden, who hopes to be the candidate to oust Trump in the 2020 election.
While Republicans and the president face great political risk in the hearings, so do Democrats. They must present themselves as sober and trustworthy investigators, former congressional aides and analysts said.
“The allegations – and what the president has admitted to – are serious enough. They don’t need embellishment. They just need explanation,” said Mieke Eoyang, a former aide to the House Intelligence Committee who works for the Democratic think tank Third Way.

The network of clear streams comprising California’s Strawberry Creek run down the side of a steep, rocky mountain in a national forest two hours east of Los Angeles. Last year Nestlé siphoned 45m gallons of pristine spring water from the creek and bottled it under the Arrowhead Water label.
Though it’s on federal land, the Swiss bottled water giant paid the US Forest Service and state practically nothing, and it profited handsomely: Nestlé Waters’ 2018 worldwide sales exceeded $7.8bn.
Conservationists say some creek beds in the area are now bone dry and once-gushing springs have been reduced to mere trickles. The Forest Service recently determined Nestlé’s activities left Strawberry Creek “impaired” while “the current water extraction is drying up surface water resources”.
Meanwhile, the state is investigating whether Nestlé is illegally drawing from Strawberry Creek and in 2017 advised it to “immediately cease any unauthorized diversions”. Still, a year later, the Forest Service approved a new five-year permit that allows Nestlé to continue using federal land to extract water, a decision critics say defies common sense.

Despite the constitutional origins of impeachment, Rep. Louie Gohmert believes it will trigger "communism" in America.
Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-TX) claimed this week that the impeachment inquiry currently underway in the House of Representatives would lead to a civil war and a dictatorship in the United States if Donald Trump were removed from office.
Gohmert made his comments Thursday night while guest-hosting the radio program "Breitbart News Tonight," which is part of the controversial conservative Breitbart News.
Earlier in the day Gohmert said in Congress that the inquiry was "push[ing] this country to a civil war."
He expanded on that take during Thursday night's radio show.

Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI) has given the National Archives until Nov. 14 to produce 'all' communications between the former president and secretary of state.
The 2016 election is three years in the rearview and multiple agencies have cleared Hillary Clinton and the State Department in the email saga that burdened her campaign.
Yet Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI), chair of the Senate Homeland Security Committee, is still intent on seeing Clinton's emails, specifically "all email communications" between Clinton and President Barack Obama, according to a letter he sent on Thursday to the archivist of the United States.
Johnson said he had previously sought all communications between Clinton and Obama "while she was located in the 'territory of a sophisticated adversary,'" but had been turned down by the Justice Department in January 2018. The DOJ at that time said it did not have the ability to produce such a message because it was not a "Department document."
"During the FBI's investigation of classified information on former Secretary Clinton's private email server, the FBI possessed and reviewed emails sent and received between Secretary Clinton and and President Obama," Johnson wrote on Thursday. "Specifically, on June 28, 2016, FBI Special Agent Peter Strzok communicated the following message to FBI Director James Comey's Chief of Staff, James Rybicki."
