Breitbart reporter calls BS on Trump's bogus 'War on Christmas' attack on Obama

Three years ago, then-presidential candidate Donald Trump attacked former President Barack Obama for supposedly waging a war against Christmas after he released a statement wishing people a happy Kwanza [sic] but not a statement for Christmas.

“What a convenient mistake: Barack Obama issued a statement for Kwanza [sic] but failed to issue one for Christmas,” Trump wrote while linking to an article by the Gateway Pundit, a right-wing website notorious for publishing fake news.

However, Breitbart News reporter Charlie Spiering points out that even though Obama didn’t issue a formal statement on Christmas in 2015, he did post a full video on his social media pages paying tribute to the Christian holiday.

What’s more, Spiering notes that Trump himself this year put out a Christmas video without also issuing a separate statement on the holiday — and that Trump did put out an official statement wishing people a happy Kwanza.[sic]

A recent New York Times report revealed that President Donald Trump didn’t seem to comprehend the resignation letter sent by Defense Secretary James Mattis this week.

Trump allegedly read the letter before praising the secretary’s work and dedication to the United States, but once cable news began reporting the letter’s contents, he turned to rage. A Twitter-rant quickly followed.

It’s led many pundits and activists online to wonder if the president was smart enough to understand what Mattis was saying in his two-page letter.

CNN White House correspondent Kaitlan Collins was among the first to comment it seemed Trump didn’t really read the letter.

Democratic Rep. Luis Gutierrez charged that the Trump administration’s immigration policies were plainly unchristian and would have blocked Jesus Christ and his family from fleeing to safety in Egypt.

The congressman from Illinois slammed Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen as she testified Thursday before the House Judiciary Committee, where she announced that asylum seekers would no longer be able to wait in the U.S. while their claims of persecution proceed through the U.S. court system. Instead, they’d have to wait their turn in Mexico instead, potentially for years, in a dramatic deviation from previous U.S. immigration policy.

But some of what Democrats see as the Trump administration’s past indiscretions on immigration policy also came up — like its now-defunct “zero tolerance policy,” which effectively separated undocumented migrant children from their families at the border.

“Just in time for the holidays, the remorseless secretary,” Gutierrez said, as he accused Nielsen of lying after she tweeted that the administration didn’t have a policy of separating any children.
