Slurpee confrontation leads to open fire

DETROIT — A Detroit woman is behind bars after she shot at another driver during an alleged road rage incident.

It started at a 7/11 gas station.

“To be completely honest with you, I went to throw my Slurpee at her,” the man said.

But India McDougal said she felt threatened.

“I’m a licensed CPL holder so I shot at him because I didn’t know what the hell he was doing,” she said.

Police say the drivers told very different stories in their 911 calls.

While McDougal said the man got out of his car and walked to her window, the man says he stayed at a distance and just threw his Slurpee at her.

“The fact that she says he came up to her window, threw it in her eyes, blinded her, and feared for her life. That’s not on the video,” Sheriff Anthony Wickersham, with Macomb County, said.

Traffic cams show that the man did get out of his car, but didn’t approach the woman. She fires at him anyway.

The bullet shattered the passenger’s window of the man’s car, but no one was injured.

McDougal was charged with a felony. The man is facing misdemeanor charges.

Two people shot dead and multiple casualties outside police headquarters in Sydney

Have no idea how this could happen in Australia.

What is most strange is it happened yesterday. Somebody must have smuggled the guns into Australia since it is illegal to have guns in the country.

Gun Control

I see many are applauding the President on Gun Control and I do as well. However, our opportunity for gun control was in 2009-2010 when we held both houses of Congress and for a little while had 60 Senators. That was the time for the President to pass comprehensive Gun Control. We had it in our hands easily. Suddenly when we do not have the Congress at all, the President is asking Congress to pass what should already have been passed. How can he not apologize to every American for not doing the job already. I am so disappointed that nothing was done during that incredible opportunity. The Republicans couldn't even complain about it because they couldn't stop it at all. We had a blank check!

I suppose I will be bashed by this but I imagine everyone will agree even if they don't want to.

Unusual College Classes 2015: Beyoncé, Zombies And Harry Potter Among Course Topics

The link has the actual classes that are offered. And we wonder why not only are students raking up big loans for unnecessary classes but then complain when they have a Bachelor's Degree that is useless. We need to wake up because the rest of the world is studying Chemistry, Physics, and Calculus.

Here's a tip for incoming college freshmen: Class doesn't have to be boring. If you plan your schedule carefully, you will have time for some fun.

Course offerings change every semester, and many schools peg seminars and pop culture classes to current events. Chances are you'll have to take ancient history or molecular chemistry courses at some point, but you'll also have opportunities to explore topics you genuinely think are interesting, like zombie survival tactics or Harry Potter. Check out a few of the offerings at various institutions for the upcoming school year

Oktoberfest

I was just watching (BBC News or world news) and there is talk of canceling Oktoberfest this year. The situation with the refugees and having alcohol, food that is not typical for the refugees and clothes issues may make a choice of canceling it for they year to allow the Refugees to not have to deal with crowds of drinkers and other issues.

At first I was like....what? I went in 2007 and had a blast..........

but then I thought about it from the Refugees perspective and I think canceling it for this year is probably a good idea. They are guests of our country and we want them to be treated well and having the craziness that does come with Oktoberfest might not be a great way to show off their new country. I believe that they will have Oktoberfest in 2016 though.

Stunning number that should make our blood boil

I know this is not a source that is great at all, but that title made me do a double take. I saw it on Facebook and almost fell over. I don't know how we can get rid of 400 million guns, but I am stunned that we even have that many here in the U.S.

Democratic candidates

I think each one should be asked if they will investigate President Bush and company over Iraq war crimes. I think this is important at least to have an investigation that would be available into our history even if jail is not the result. I think it would be important to have documentation of the hearing and answers to pertinent questions. Do you think all democratic nominees should be asked this?

I-77 flag wavers show support for slain Marines

My goodness my computer is blurry. What a great group of residence to go out of their way to support the Marines. Gives hope to everyone.

FORT MILL
About two-dozen military veterans and supporters hoisted American flags over Interstate 77 on Friday afternoon to honor four Marines killed in Chattanooga, Tenn., one day earlier.

The patriots stood for hours on the Exit 83 overpass waving American flags and holding up four fingers in honor of four U.S. Marines who were shot and killed Thursday at a Chattanooga military recruiting center in what authorities are investigating as an act of domestic terrorism. The suspect was shot to death by police.

“We represent several different groups. However, right now, we’re representing the United States of America,” said Al Guest, a retired master sergeant for the U.S. Air Force.

The bridge on which they were standing has special meaning. The Leonard A. Farrington 9/11 Memorial Bridge is named after a man who stood on the bridge the day after the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks and waved his American flag.

“I’m not here for publicity, I’m here for this country,” Farrington said that day. “No terrorist beats America.”

Those waving flags from the same bridge Friday had the same sense of unity for country. Not all of them were military veterans, though. Robin Smith, of Fort Mill, said Thursday’s shooting created more fear for her son, who is also a Marine.

“It’s real hard to put a name with the face, especially when you have someone in the service,” she said. “(Terrorism) has come into our country, and we need to get it stopped.”

Smith said she wanted the motorists driving by and honking to feel the passion for America those on the bridge have.

“Everybody that’s up here today has a deep feeling for America,” she said. “I want these (drivers) to know and to bring it back to them in case they’ve forgotten, deep down in their hearts, what needs to be important.”
