No Vested Interest
No Vested Interest's JournalI got the same phone call from RNC Sunday; posted about it in the DU lounge...
Also asked to speak to family member deceased over nine years.
I didn't listen to the spiel; just said "you have the wrong number" and " don't call back again".
Sunday evening of Labor Day weekend...
"Republican National Committee" just phoned and asked for family member
that has been deceased for over nine years.
I believe that deceased person had last voted in a Democratic primary, so the "RNC" was not using a list of voters, and the deceased should have long since been removed from voting rolls.
Son with same name lives and is registered to vote in another state, but son did purchase a luxury car in this state 6-8 years ago, so perhaps the "RNC" is using a list from the luxury car sales or dealerships.
At any rate, I told "RNC" that he had the wrong number, asked him to not call again, and terminated and hopefully blocked the number.
I don't have the time, patience, or desire to play games with these people, so no smart replies to these people, if, in fact, it was a live voice calling. Robocalls are so sophisticated these days it's sometimes hard to tell. and, as I said, I have no patience for this nonsense.
Pronunciations in US are all over the place, owing to anglicization of non-anglo names.
Many here in the Midwest:
Lima, OH-= LY-mah, not Lee-mah
Illinois = Il- uh-noy, not Il-uh- nwah
Detroit = Duh-troit, not Duh-twah
Cairo, IL = Care-oh, not Ky-row.
NC - Bo-fort is closer to the original French pronunciation, though not exact, as the final "t' would not likely be pronounced in French.
Same Anglicization with many Spanish words, and one can only guess that Native American names have been mangled.
(I'm no expert in languages; just recalling high school and college studies 60+ years later. Feel free to improve upon my attempts.)

Protecting Our Oceans-
That politicians, scientists and economists work together to protect the world's seas and oceans.
Surely she was obligated to sign a "confidentiality" agreement...
That's the reason she was "separated", isn't it?
I understand and appreciate your sarcasm...
Jr. and I imagine his troupe will be in Covington KY for a reception this evening
hosted by Bill Butler, a large contractor as well as a supporter of Governor Bevin of KY.
Ms. Guilfoyle was not mentioned in the article on Cincinnati.com, though I suppose she'll be part of the entourage.
(Can't imagine how she can stand to be constantly in the company of Donald Jr., but to each her own. Remember, she was previously married to Governor Newsom of California.)
As for Donald, Jr., I wouldn't cross the street the see him.
Happy Birthday, virgogal!!
I thought I had the "oldest" title wrapped up, but you've got about 15 months head start on me.
Stay up until midnight and enjoy your birthday to the fullest!
I heard the number "40,000" for the Inuit people in Greenland.
That's roughly 70% of the population.
This interview with Stephen Colbert will be rebroadcast on CNN Sunday evening, IIRC.
Very moving.
You do know that the baby's parents were both killed/murdered in the mass killing, don't you?
The baby was brought to 45's photo op by an uncle, who is a fan of you-know-who/45
