Michelle and Barack are young enough that there may be other,

better, portraits done of them, in a not-so-stylized form.

Please consider your husband, obviously a good guy, and do what is best for him and for you,

so that you will not have regrets should anything go wrong for him while he assists your parents so long and so often.
Husband is your first priority.
Things are going to go bad for your parents inevitably, likely sooner rather than later.
It's not right that hubby's in-laws are determining the direction of these years that are so valuable to him.

Hope all went well when you brought them to see the house.
Probably your Dad nixed it. For your sake, I hope not, but, from what you describe, I believe he did.

Best wishes in your endeavors.

Last dog passed on when we were about 65. Then husband's health deteriorated,

eventual nursing care for him, with me visiting every day, etc.
More recently, a daughter had a stroke, requiring long-term care, with much time and management input by Mama (me.)

I was very happy when my other daughter adopted a small poodle mix about two years ago, so now I have a sweet, loving granddog.
This daughter had ferrets for a long time, then cats - still has two cats, but I don't do well with resident cats. I'm fine with other people's cats, but not for myself.

Now I'm a senior senior.- Love seeing animals of all sorts, but personal care by me, is a thing of the past.

Did she go to the home alone, or did she have someone with her?

It seems to me that someone removing a child from a home should always have at least one other person with her/him; more when it is known that there is violence in the family.

Many persons would strike out in what they believe is defense of their child, even when they are in the wrong.

This is very sad.

I'll look for her memorial in a booklet they produce periodically.

What was her name in religious life before they returned to their baptismal/family names?

May she rest in peace.

I was taught by Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur grades 1-12, and was so well prepared for college, and still as an elder believe I reflect their training.

I don't think I knew Sr. Micki, though, because, as far as I know, all those who taught me are long since deceased.

In Reading, Ohio- just north of Cincinnati- the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur have a retirement home and care facility for their own sisters and nuns of other orders. I don't imagine Sr. Micki was there, but, if so, know that she received wonderful care.

There is very little of interest to me posted in the religion group in the last 6 months,

approximately.
Previously, there was more variety in the topics posted, but lately, it's the same old same old.
I glance at the group daily, but rarely find anything that piques my interest enough to read the comments.
Too bad, from my standpoint, because I am interested in religion in general.

Senator Jeff Flake reported from the scene that the driver survived.

It was a person in the back of the truck who died.
