Tim Ryan has been a US Congressman representing Ohio since 2003 -- 14 years.

The 17th district he formerly represented was made obsolete following the 2010 census and redistricting.
I like Tim Ryan; he is articulate and represents Ohio's Dems very well.
He has a future in national politics.
I am not happy that he would demean Nancy Pelosi in any way; Ms. Pelosi has served and continues to serve the people of the US and the Democratic party in a most outstanding way.

The city of Cincinnati is a Democratic-voting city. Hamilton County is red-ish, though

Dems now control the county commissioners, Sheriff's office, and several other county positions.
The Congressional seats have been gerrymandered by Republicans at the state level, so that Dems have not been competitive enough in recent years.

The 90's were a long time ago.

Mayor John Cranley, City Manager Harry Black, the Police chief, and a religious leader

have spoken out at a news conference, expressing sympathy for the DuBose family and urging peace in the community for those unhappy with the mistrial decision.

Luckily, it is raining fairly hard and that should help to keep any community unrest tampered down.

I just say to myself that this person has poor political judgment, and try to

stay away from the subject of politics.

I love my CPAP, and haven't been without it one night since testing 13+ years ago.

I was in denial that I had sleep apnea, but my physician at the time insisted I have the testing.
I used to startle awake, apparently from lack of oxygen.
Now I sleep soundly, awakening only for a bathroom run, but usually back to sleep quickly.

There are many newer style appliances for those who have trouble with the mask; there are also inserts for the mouth, though I believe that would be much more annoying for me.

Though excess weight is often an indicator of the need for a CPAP, I have two slight, slender female friends who have the need as well. It may be that age plays a part in the need for this breathing assistance.

I hate to suggest this, but wondering if Otto attempted to take his own life,

perhaps by attempted hanging.
That could cut off air supply for a time, enough to cause the type of damage described.

OTOH, his captors could have cut of his air by means of choke-hold, etc.

Apparently, the damage (or dead tissue) is in many or all parts of the brain, not just one or several areas. as in a stroke.
