So the host forgot the vegetarian option? He was tending to his relatives, the "guests of honor",

so to speak?
It happens.
He made a mistake.
Move on.

This is why I don't have dinner guests.

First of all, I, along with many others, I would guess, am not a great cook.
Secondly, there are a lot of nuances in vegetarian meals. - Some will eat fish, some are vegans, etc.

Getting all the parts of the meal on the table at approximately the same time is a feat for me.
I will have worried and planned since whenever the entertaining plans were made.
It is much easier to take my guests to a nice restaurant and let them choose what they prefer.

My daughter, who is a vegetarian, along with my son, who is not a vegetarian, prepare beautiful meals for me twice a year - on my birthday and on Mother's Day. The main course includes fish, which she eats and which I love.

While I understand your pique at being served "last-minute" food, you would do well to give your hostess a pass, in that she/he may be doing the their best possible, in unfamiliar territory.

Your Mom did a good thing. It's very important that children - boys and girls-

feel good about themselves on the first day they present themselves at school.

First impressions are important, and if a child feels embarrassed or lesser than others, it will likely affect his attitude and school work in a negative way.

Eggs are higher priced recently and now because the bird flu

in some areas has necessitated thousands, tens of thousands of laying hens had to be destroyed.

$2.00/dozen and more.

Enjoy.

And laugh about it later.

Family is Family. Not a lot choice in the matter.

My personal feeling is - try to keep it as civil as possible.
Not much to be gained making others, especially the innocent, uncomfortable,

And then there's fewer words to have to eat or regret in the future.

Hope it went well and that you enjoyed your dinner.

Someone in husband's family made the decision to reach out.

Maybe you don't yet know who that is, but that person will be there.

It will be good for husband to see and be with his sister, whom he may not have the opportunity to be with for many years after this get-together.
Family does matter, even though family members are all different.

Put on a vague smile, and keep lips zipped except for niceties.
You can do it.

I could be interested in a Castro in 2020 (if I'm still here to vote in 5 years).

Which one is the preferred candidate - Julian or Joaquin?

They're just 40 years old. - Younger than my kids.

I like Elizabeth Warren, but she's not so young herself. She's 66 now, would be 67

by 2016 election & inauguration.
Yes, she appears younger, and that's good.

Hillary is 67 now, would be 69 by 2016 election.
D. Trump is 69 now; Mike Huckabee is 60.
Jeb Bush is 62, John Kasich is 63.
Jim Webb is 69;
Martin O'Malley is 52.

Enough said.
