No Vested Interest
No Vested Interest's JournalThank you. Very moving. nt
I believe Manchin (D-WV) voted with the Republicans.
I heard his name called with the "yeas", at least with one of the votes leading up to the main issue.
So if a colleague that has spoken out against the decision
suddenly stops or recants - should that colleague's spouse be suspicious that the colleague is having affairs that he/she doesn't want disclosed?
I have long been conscious that I would not qualify
as a juror in a case where the death penalty is a possible choice.
To me, this seems wrong, in that I am part of the whole population of "peers" of the accused.
If a large portion of society does not believe in imposing the death penalty and are thus disqualified from serving, the accused is not getting a true cross-section of his/her "peers".
Your comment re "articles" submitted about guests, mishaps, shopping trips, etc.
reminds me of newspaper articles of 100 years ago that I've found doing genealogy research.
I've looked up my ancestors and their families in newspapers of 85 - 150 years past and connected such comments to my online family trees. These articles add a little "flesh and blood" to these past relatives who would otherwise just be distant names to those around today.
Perhaps, in another 100 years - though newspapers may be long gone- some people will refer back to these small-town weeklies for info on their ancestors - including the LTE bully.
I agree with Okasha.
Just be affable, as though the phone conversation had not taken place.
Go about your business, take any emotionalism out of the transaction.
Thank him for coming, then for his work when completed.
Men, and all people for that matter, love to feel appreciated.
You'll never know how his wife conveyed the Facebook message. Even intonation makes a difference, as we all know.
Good luck with the pipes.

I treat meself to a pedicure every few months - not frequently enough really.
I go to a nail salon in a very large mall, where I figure the poor pedicurist has seen everything, so that actually mine are not the worst they've seen.
And, yes, I do see men as well as women in there, too.
For some nails, I can clip between times at homes, but, obviously, not the worst.
They also give a leg massage, sometimes at an extra price, while there, and work on callouses.
The thing I've heard about podiatrists, is that Medicare will pay for treatments if you say your toes hurt.
That may be cut back, with closer watching of Medicare payments, but bears looking into.
I've never been to a podiatrist, though my doc has recommended because of pre-diabetes.
I believe, and someone else can verify if true, that podiatrist treatments are considered part of diabetic care.
