No Vested Interest
No Vested Interest's JournalHow about boycotting only Seminole County, FL?
That's where the deed was done, where GZ and the jurors live.
My son lives in Sarasota which is dependably Republican, but the Tampa area is Democratic, I believe, and the southeast portion of the state.
Alan Grayson is from the Orlando area, I believe, and Debbie Wasserman-Schultz from the Southeast part of FL.
It must be very frustrating to have some true right-wingers running the state. I know the problem, as it's happening now in my state - Ohio.
Good luck to all the Dems in FL. Keep fighting.
Agreed.
What a refreshing OP
when what is so often posted under "Religion" lacks the Empathy you embrace and practice.
Y'all come back now, hear?
..+..
Not sure there's enough value in this OP
to warrant posting it.
Especially not in GD.
Entertainment, maybe, but not even there.
How long will it take for this (and similar) law
to be challenged in federal courts?
Can a stay of implementation be applied for?
Get them registered to vote
in local and national elections, assuming, of course, that this becomes their legal residence..
Before the 2008 election I participated in a Dem. blog/discussion site that
fell apart over the Obama/Hillary primaries.
It didn't fall apart immediately, but slowly and very painfully over a long period of time.
I wasn't a part of the goings-on, but found the antagonisms a distraction and silly.
Eventually there were no new postings for over a week, and then a month.
Right now, I can't even remember the name of the site.
I'm fairly new, compared to the multi-year members, but I'll stay for the info and discussions as long as there's enough new material to keep it interesting.
Hope that's a long, long time.
I must confess that I like the ignore function for some of the more egregious offenders, though.
Last Dec. on a Costa cruise ship, with about 2/3 European passengers
smoking was (apparently) allowed most places on the ship. - Maybe not the Main dining room, at least not noticeably in the area I and family used.
But mostly certainly in the casual - buffet -dining area for breakfast, lunch & snacks. And more so in the casino, which luckily was not a hangout of mine, but through which I frequently had to pass to access another area.
The Europeans, mostly Italian, were quite unapologetic about puffing any time and any place. I understand, after all, it was their New Year's holiday and they were just relaxing as was their norm.
There were aspects of cruising with an Italian line that I liked, especially the price, following the accidents on two of their ships, but, for anyone contemplating traveling with European fellow passengers, be forewarned of the ever-present clouds of smoke.
Incidentally, I grew up in the age of universal smoking in the US; my nonsmoking parents gave me permission to smoke openly, if that was my desire. Perhaps that took the fun out of it for a teenager, for it never interested me, even though I likely missed out on bridge games in the college "smoker". And I was tolerant of the inevitable smoke, fumes and odor.
And now that smoking is fairly universally forbidden in public spaces, I'm not so tolerant of being around it -I find it noxious.
Those who were rescinded were not historically proven;
those unworthy (and I don't disagree with you on that point) were historically recognized.
Have any historically known "saints" been rescinded?
The beautiful thing is we are not personally forced to honor any specific saint; we can pick & choose among the thousands, or choose none.
