Good info. I knew someone would follow through.

Perhaps the older woman is the accompanist.
The younger boy may have sung a role appropriate for his voice range in a particular piece.

If a house mother, only for the young ladies.

There sure as heck were no coed houses in that period -even at Oberlin.
I'm thinking it might have been some type of musical or religious organization, or the like.
Not completely academic.

But what do I know?
Someone will figure it out, and let us know - I hope.

The younger boy does look young, and there's a woman in the middle in a print blouse/dress

that looks a little older.
I'm sure the answers are out there, with a little searching.
Care to tell us how you came by this photo?

Definitely Oberlin College

I scanned a 1916 Oberlin College yearbook online. -
The same setting with the columns as shown at the top of photo is shown in several of those in the yearbook, though I didn't see the exact same photo.
Further sleuthing necessary.

There is a Rice Hall at Oberlin College in Ohio.

This looks like some type of club or college group. They're all fairly close in age.

There are old yearbooks shown on a number of sites.
Perhaps you'll locate something from Oberlin College which will identify the photo.

I posed this question in regard to Trayvon being shot through the heart.

The DU response was that gun users are taught to shoot for the largest body mass, that being the chest, and, in this case, the head, apparently.

Assemble copies of all correspondence and copies of both checks, front and back.

Document your visits to SS office, and persons you spoke with, if you have names. If you don't have names, it's always good to get a business card of any SS employee you deal with.

Then ask be assigned to one individual who will deal with your problem case until all is settled. this should be able to be done via USPS. In fact, it may be better, because it will give your SS person time to research and consult whomever necessary to get a final resolution.

Let them know you want/need a final resolution to this case.

Good luck.

Would it be a good idea to ask the Mennonite or Amish craftsmen if they know how to do this, or

something similar?

As we move along in retirement years, it's always to look a good five years ahead, and try to calculate our physical needs for that time. A first floor commode is especially useful for that purpose.
I, myself, have installed the taller commodes, similar to but not as large as the ones seen in commercial establishments, as well as grab bars.
However, I'm not a dainty person in size and appreciate a form underpinning.

He (and Rosalyn) have remained so down to earth and accessible.

About a dozen yrs. ago, spouse and I attended an Elderhostel in Americus, GA, only a few miles from Plains. Much of the focus was on Jimmy Carter.
Spouse and I arrived early enough to go to Jimmy's Sunday School service in Plains. It was nicely organized and we were seated near the front because of spouse's mobility problems. His lesson was on a chapter from the Bible and was nicely done.
After the service, Jimmy and Rosalyn made themselves available for photos, each couple or family or singles , could take a photo or two with the Carters. I believe we used our own cameras - it wasn't a commercial venture.

I've also been to his book signing in Durham, NC, where, again, he was most gracious intaking a minute with each book buyer/owner.

We also visited the home office of Habitat for Humanity, which is/was located in Americus, GA, with which both Carters have been associated over the years. We toured Plains, past the Carter home, and had a lecture or two with people who had been associated with Jimmy in the PLains area.

In addition, I respect his measured opinions. Jimmy Carter has strong opinions, especially on democracy, which he is willing to deliver. He walks the walk.
