Thank you for this, CTyankee. The pinafores
remind me that my mother made pinafores for me as a youngster.
She was a good and adventurous seamstress as a young mother, making coats, dresses, dolls, etc., that women today couldn't/wouldn't conceive of attempting.
The paintings are gorgeous!
Isn't this what most of us do daily in our homes?
We wouldn't be afraid to eat food that was near or even somewhat over its "expiration" date, would we?
Some products are labeled "Best by (date). What does that mean, really? Ambiguous -as "best" is subjective, as far as I can tell.
Also interesting - Coach Hastert has not been seen or commented
since this issue became public. Nor has any family member or even a lawyer or spokesperson for him commented.
It's said he's at a family home in Wisconsin.
I believe his arraignment is next week, so we shall see.
What a wonderful example of familial love Joe Biden gives to the world.

in recent years, by their Daddies and granddaddies.
Moms and grandmoms seldom advocate for the chest-thumping wars our nation has engaged in in the last half-century.
This is meant as a comment, not an argument.
And, yes, I agree with OP that aging of both men and women without family is tough.
I'm widowed, and can't imagine how much harder and emptier life would be without my adult children looking in, helping out now and again. Though I want to stay in my home as long as possible, I think if I had no family I would seek a community for older adults, as they do usually look out for one another.
