No Vested Interest
No Vested Interest's JournalI can't express how much respect I have for you and your wife and son.
Your taking this little jellybean into your home and lives is the best news I have read on DU in a long time - or ever.
Please keep us informed how it goes - the little details.
It's been a long time since I've held a small package like that, and I wouldn't be up to full-time care.
Tonight you are my heroes.
Subtle. nt
The little face looks like a patient old grandpa
just letting the family take care of him.
Sweet.
Sad to say, if Hillary is elected POTUS, we can expect four or eight years
of this trash.
Haters don't stop hating just because they lose.
I feel as safe in my church a I do in my own home - perhaps even more so.
When I'm in church, I'm with a number of people,
In my home, I'm most often alone, and therefore vulnerable to whomever or whatever may befall me.
Typically, I don't worry about either circumstance.
I don't beieve all these efforts to remove the Confederate flag will succeed.
But if even one-half succeed, that will be a success, and will further isolate the remaining holdouts until they, too. will eventually remove it of their own accord.
Edited to add:
I especially appreciate Virginia's Gov. McAuliffe speaking up quickly, and believe that is something in his purview to correct.
Ha! I didn't know Mandel received CCC money as well.
He is a huge fund-raiser.
He has huge political ambitions.
Such a pity he was re-elected last fall.
This should be very useful as opposition points to those Republicans who have received donations
and seek re-election on the national, state, and local levels.
Surely Democratic staff will be aware of such donations, even though some Republicans will say they didn't know and seek to return the ill-gotten money.
And we, the Democratic electorate, will use means available to us to get out that damning message re donations from the Council of Conservative Citizens.
The Guardian and the New York Times report that Sen. Rob Portman (R-OH)
is among the Republican office-holders who have received campaign donation from the president of the Council of Conservative Citizens, Mr. Earl Holt III of Texas.
Sen. Portman is one of several Republican Senators, including Presidential candidates Ted Cruz, Rand Paul and Rick Santorum, to have received donations.
I expect that Senator Portman's staff will announce that he will return the money, but, hey, why and how did Mr. Holt pick out Rob Portman to receive his money? What was Holt expecting to get in return?
I understand that members of Congress spend a lot of their time calling individuals for donations. Is Mr. Earl Holt III on Portman's fast-dial?
This fatality was the first Police officer killed in the line of duty in Cincinnati since 2000.
Officer Kim had served for 27 years on the Police Force, with many commendations, and was a principal trainer in a Japanese karate studio.
Earlier this year a Cincinnati Fire fighter was killed after falling down an elevator shaft in an apartment about 1 1/2 miles from the scene of Friday's shootout, in the Madisonville area.
Madisonville is a community of older homes, located on the eastern perimeter of the city, bordering some of the area's wealthier suburbs, such as Indian Hill and Mariemont. The community council has worked hard to foster safety and stabilize the area, as new, large businesses are building close to the nearby !-71.
I worked in the area for four years about 30 years ago in a public capacity and was treated courteously by the local customers, even though it was known that there were some rough ones dealing drugs. Many families stayed in the area for generations, while younger home-buyers see an opportunity in reasonably-priced starter homes.
