About 18 yrs ago, spouse & I went to Plains as part of an Elderhostel group.
We were headquartered in Americus GA, but hubby and I went over to Plains that Sunday a.m., as the Carter Sunday School was not part of the program. Hubby walked with a cane, so we were seated quickly and right in front. President Carter's teaching was on a portion of the Gospel of Matthew - he knew it well.
He and Rosalynn also posed for photos after the service; the picture is on my mantel to this day.
As part of the Elderhostel study group, we also had a tour of the High school and drove by their present home.
Another day we had a talk by the local woman who came to Washington with the Carters to help get Amy, their then elementary school age daughter, settled and adjusted to the White House and to Washington DC.
Edited to add: I've also gone to book-signings by Pres. Carter. He's always gracious.
I'm glad Anderson apologized.
Crudity has been too much normalized recently. Anderson Cooper was not raised that way, and he recognized after he spoke that it went too far.
Thank you, Anderson Cooper.
Callista Gingrich was formally nominated for the ambassadorship on Friday 5/19.
Next step is to be confirmed by the Senate.
A family I know is afflicted with Huntington's Disease. It is devastating.
Those afflicted often don't know until about the age of 40, when they have already established families, thus bringing the disease to another generation.
Once families realize that the Huntington's gene is present, individuals must decide whether or not to be tested for it, knowing there is no cure, if they are found to carry the gene.
Aside from the obvious physical debilities, the disease can adversely affect the person's impulse control, so that they may act out in ways they might not have before.
What you see here is the difference between a closed mind (Naumann) and
an open mind (Tobin).
For better or for worse, such things don't change much.
It's worse than anyone could have imagined. Full-time dysfunctional.
He sucks all the oxygen out of the air, leaving little space for rational discussion or thought regarding the business of government.
This must be what a really bad marriage feels like - all around you, never escaping.
I know enough about human nature to realize that there was no hope of him changing, especially at his age. - Just not possible.
There was a liar in my family, who would lie at the drop of a hat, and sometimes just for the fun of it. That's what we have here.
Nixon's Library started as a private library, with family members, especially his daughters
overseeing it.
Only in more recent years did the US government become involved, and it is still a mixed bag.
Another septuagenian in Trump's team.
Ageist?
I'm older than all of them, but believe most of them, including 45, are past their prime.
