Lawyer: Greenpeace protesters reach plea deal.

Source: Associated Press

The Greenpeace activists charged in a protest at the Procter & Gamble headquarters in Cincinnati plan to accept a plea agreement, according to a defense attorney.
Seven activists scheduled to go to trial in January on felony burglary and vandalism charges will plead guilty on misdemeanor charges of criminal trespassing.

The activists would face up to 30 days in jail each, $250 fines, and community service performed in Cincinnati.
The activists, all from out of state, unfurled large banners from P&G's two towers on March 4; the banners protested the use of palm oil supplies which Greenpeace claims links to rainforest destruction. The activists used zip lines as the protest was filmed for Greenpeace from a helicopter.

Pepper was pretty well-regarded here in Cincinnati.

He came from a fairly prominent family - his father was CEO of Procter & Gamble and later Chairman of the Board of Walt Disney- so he was able to get the financial backing to run for office locally.

Since he has not been successful in two tries for state-wide office- not necessarily his fault, but bad years for Dems.- he's likely looking for an opportunity to get a solid name in Dem. politics in Ohio.

Edited to add: Pepper is a little short on charisma.

That is the heart of the problem. The Dems have had a hard time

coming up with good statewide candidates the last few cycles.
Rep. Tim Ryan is especially attractive, but he hasn't been ready to make a move as yet - perhaps with good reason.
Other than that, I can't think of too many others who could run against Portman, who has much money on his side.

You likely have cousins still in the area.

If genealogists can turn up Kennedy cousins and Obama relatives, I'm sure yours are locatable as well, even more so when these records become available.

Mine emigrated ca 1820 from Co. Tyrone, and records of Catholic marriages and baptisms before that time period would have been undercover, to say the least, so I would not qualify for dual citizenship, but that's okay. The British were a brutal people in their Reformation fervor.

I hope I live long enough to see it completed.

It's tough when your surname is the second most common name in the country, and the ancestor's first name is that of the island's patron saint.

This could be cross-posted in ancestry/genealogy.

Rob Portman takes himself out of the running for President 2016.

Senator Portman says he will run for a second term, according to a news story in the Cincinnati Enquirer.
