No Vested Interest
No Vested Interest's JournalMe too - Presbyterian Church. But I've only voted
there one time, as I vote absentee as a rule.
The one exception was a primary that I was going to skip, but when a Dem. office-holder died at the last minute, I went to vote in the primary, and the election judge didn't exactly know how to handle my situation. Not important in the long run.
I heard there is snow on the ground in Maine.
Will that affect the turnout?
Or are Mainers so used to snow they don't even think about something so trivial?
The carrot is better than the stick. Promise a drawing for prizes - it could be anything -
money, gifts, political memorabilia.
I hope you have that math correct.
Alison's running hard. - She deserves to win.
And wouldn't it be great?
Booooooooooo. nt
I was in San Miguel d'Allende on the Day of the Dead a number of years ago.
Interesting displays in many places near the town square.
Nov. 2 is named All Souls Day in the universal Church. At my parish a large book listing all those who have died in past years is displayed throughout the month of November.
The book will open on the page for the last 12 months.
It causes one to reflect once more on those who have left us in the last year.
Here's how it turned out - After two false starts with other outfits,
I went back to this dress as the best option.
At David's Bridal the alterations lady felt strongly that the dress would not look right shortened to shortened to below the knee; indeed it seemed to be almost against their policy.
So I acceded to that advice, and had it shortened to 2" above full-length, which she felt the need to note that customer wanted it that way - in other words, not their recommendation. Shoes will be visible but not ankle.
So next Sat. I'll be wearing a full-length dress with jacket, which should be fine in coldish Chicago weather.
This will also be the dress for my funeral - when it happens.
This is a moving piece of art. Very deep in its significance. nt
Patience and civility pay off, and you have kept a friend.
Practically all of my local friends are Republicans - that's just the way it around here. Those who were Democrats either married Republicans and/or weren't interested enough to keep their own counsel.
Since we usually meet in our homes for charity work, I neither insult them in their homes or as guests in mine.
They know where I stand, and I speak up on occasion to correct factually incorrect information, but no arguing.
Despite my lifetime loyalty to Democratic principles, tied in with my education in social justice, I value long-time friends, which are not easily replaced as we age.
Thanks for input. Final outcome posted in Crafts group. nt
