Governor candidate Ed Fitzgerald choses Sen. Eric Kearney as 2014 running mate

State Senator Eric Kearney, minority leader in the Ohio senate, has been chosen by Democratic candidate for governor Ed. Fitzgerald as his running mate. If elected, Sen. Kearney would become lieutenant governor in a Fitzgerald administration.
A Cincinnati native, Sen. Kearney graduated from St. Xavier High School in Cincinnati and Dartmouth College. His Juris Doctor is from the University of Cincinnati Law school.
Sen. Kearney was appointed to the Ohio Senate in 2005 to fill the unexpired term of Mark Mallory, who had been elected Mayor of Cincinnati. He won election in Nov. 2006 and 2010.

Undoubtedly Ms. Griffin was working in a hostile environment;

However, if I know or thought another employee objected to "God bless you" after a sneeze, I'd refrain from that bit.

I can't imagine Pope Francis reacting that way to Buchanan or Palin

He grasps so well the human nature of man (and woman) that he doesn't judge their failings.

I heard Andrew Sullivan repeat a story on CNN this evening, that Pope Francis telephoned a person who Sullivan called "right-wing". The person had been critical of Francis, but now that person was ill. He accepted the Pope's call and the words of sympathy from Francis, but said he was still critical. The Pope merely answered "I know.'

I haven't yet followed up on that anecdote, but would like to know more detail. It seems to show his lack of anger and humility in reaching out to a critic who perhaps needed comforting during illness.

One can imagine that Vinicio has not felt much human touch since his illness began.

Human touch is so healing.
How wonderful that he had this occasion with Pope Francis .

Scattering of ashes may be another thing.

Local and state laws may play into this, as well as church rules and practice.

Last I heard, my midwestern state did not permit scattering of ashes, though obviously, there's not much to keep a determined person from doing so. I'm thinking of a friend's husband who wished his cremains to be scattered in the woods on his farm, and she complied. Since the cremains usually are given to the nearest family member and no further records kept of disposal, no one can really keep another of disposing of them as they wish.

One reason for not permitting scattering of ashes is that bone fragments usually remain. One can imagine consternation if/when scattering of ashes in any venue (on a downtown street, for example?) resulted in bone fragments being found by another.

I do believe the Catholic church wishes cremains to be respectfully held or buried. Someone else with more knowledge of that can speak to that topic.

As I understand it, cremation has been permitted for a few years, at least.

I've attended Catholic funerals where the urn, with ashes inside was brought to the front of the church, and I've also attended memorial masses, with ashes/urns not present.
As far as I know, there was no problem with obtaining permission for these arrangements.

With the cost of funerals with caskets, embalming, visitations, etc., running fairly high, I would think cremation would be more and more common.

Again- over-generalization.

For starters - Bobby and Ted Kennedy, and siblings
Warren Buffet's son, Howard Buffett.

I'll invite others to add to the list...

I would call that malpractice on the doctor's part, though

court cases are hard to prove since doctors and hospitals tend to back each other up, in my opinion.

I can't imagine the heartbreak of going through two pregnancies and losing the child at the time of birth.
I'm so glad the Rh-negative problems seem to be treatable; I remember friends who had to deal with this and you never hear of it anymore.

Boehner's family owned a bar. Being in a German part of the locale,

food was likely available. So I doubt he and his family suffered that lack.
He was also either the oldest or near the top of his large family of siblings.
You know how the eldest gets all the new clothes, and the later wear hand-me-downs?

Anyway, the man just has no empathy, despite his tears.
Ever notice how his tears are always at his own actions, not the actions of others?
