Lady Parts Justice!

ENOUGH

Women are not faking rape and they don’t have magical powers to deactivate rape sperm. We are not pregnant before we are pregnant, we can’t have an abortion if we are not pregnant, and I think we can all agree, women shouldn’t be forced to carry stillborn babies. Abortions don’t cause mental instability and the HPV vaccine doesn’t make girls mentally retarded. No woman’s boss should be able to demand information from her to decide if her reason for wanting birth control is moral enough to grant permission.


These are all actual laws coming from statehouses all across America, and we are sick of it. Lady Parts Justice is doing something about it. We are calling it “V to Shining V.” Don’t even say it’s not awesome. It’s about time that women took a page from the LGBTQ community and created an annual rocking party with comedians, bands, righteous speakers, and funny videos that celebrate the awesomeness of women while proclaiming it is time to stop fucking with us.

We need you to get your friends together to cause some trouble on the ground in what we are calling Lady Parts Justice Leagues. You are funny and smart so why not get together with your other funny smart and pissed off friends, have some wine and come up with some clever ideas of your own to throw a bum or two out.

V TO SHINING V 1st Annual 50 State Capitol Ladypalooza blowout!

2014 V To Shining V, a national pride day for women. LPJ wants men and women to get together and organize kick-ass block parties in all 50 state capitals with comedy, music and a little dose of what is on the ballot. The goal of V To Shining V 2014 is to be the first annual fall event that serves as the push we all need to step up, get loud, go to the polls in November and toss out politicians who have decided the biggest problems in our home states is what we do with our vaginas.

Preserving the soul

In particular, this photo of the first African American President and First Lady finding such joy in meeting a young Native American girl speaks volumes as a symbol of our hope for healing from a bloody and painful history.

But the fact is, whenever I see our President's genuine delight in interactions with children, I think of something Alice Walker wrote shortly after he was elected.

I would advise you to remember that you did not create the disaster that the world is experiencing, and you alone are not responsible for bringing the world back to balance. A primary responsibility that you do have, however, is to cultivate happiness in your own life...From your happy, relaxed state, you can model real success, which is all that so many people in the world really want. They may buy endless cars and houses and furs and gobble up all the attention and space they can manage, or barely manage, but this is because it is not yet clear to them that success is truly an inside job. That it is within the reach of almost everyone...

Because, finally, it is the soul that must be preserved, if one is to remain a credible leader. All else might be lost; but when the soul dies, the connection to earth, to peoples, to animals, to rivers, to mountain ranges, purple and majestic, also dies. And your smile, with which we watch you do gracious battle with unjust characterizations, distortions and lies, is that expression of healthy self-worth, spirit and soul, that, kept happy and free and relaxed, can find an answering smile in all of us, lighting our way, and brightening the world.
