“You don’t have to like the president; you don’t have to like me."
A Governors Last Campaign To Prove Health Law WorksSome 34,000 had begun applications, and more than 11,000 had signed up for plans, making Kentucky one of the most successful state-run insurance marketplaces under the new federal health care law. You are all doing a fantastic job, Mr. Beshear told two dozen bleary-eyed workers. My message to Kentuckians is simply this, Mr. Beshear said in his office in the State Capitol. You dont have to like the president; you dont have to like me. Because this isnt about him, and its not about me. Its about you, your family and your children. So do yourself a favor. Find what you can get for yourself. Youre going to like what you find. Kentucky is the only Southern state to operate its own insurance exchange as well as expand Medicaid coverage for the poor.
To me this was a moral decision, he said. Weve got 640,000 Kentuckians who dont have access to any kind of affordable health care. The last ranking I saw, were 44th out of 50 in health status. You take any chronic disease or condition heart disease, cancer, smoking, obesity, you name it and were either the worst or close to the worst. He also said the law made economic sense, citing a state-commissioned study that found that an expansion of Medicaid over eight years would create a $15.6 billion economic impact and almost 17,000 new jobs. Most of these critics are going to end up with egg on their face, the governor predicted. People are finding that I can get health insurance for the first time in my life that I can afford. Theyre going to look back at these folks after all the dust settles and say, You misled us.

Such strong and steady hands to lead us. Thank you Mr. President
BOG
This Shutdown isn’t about Obamacare…it’s about OBAMA
snip
THAT is why, when one looks back at the list of accomplishments by President Obama in his first term in office..
They were done WITHOUT GOP votes.
snip
This country has been forced to run itself on continuing resolutions.
The President said the other day that the two things the House of Representatives are charged with are the following:
1. Produce a budget
2. Pay the bills the United States runs up
And, they have DELIBERATELY been AWOL with both duties.
The party that inherited a BUDGET SURPLUS from Bill Clinton and didnt two shyts about budget deficits as they:
1. Lied us into not one, but TWO wars that were kept off the books
2. Put in place tax cuts during wartime something NEVER EVER done before
3. Put in place the unpaid for Medicare Part D
The Rest Here.

It's what we came here for!
Give me A High Five!
BOG For all of you!
Well rhett, I am on the left,
just not the left of the left. I don't think you are either. Look what was spawned from the right of the right of the right. The Tea Potty. We can never be governed by any extremes.
Where have I been attacking the left? I think my views on what I stand for have been clearly stated. I firmly believe in equality, equal rights for everyone. Voting rights. I am, as a woman very strong in my support for VAWA and once again equal rights for a woman to chose what to do with her body. I also want to protect our children from violence on the streets and in their homes. I stand strongly on immigration reform. I do not want to see families torn apart.
I think in the time that I have been with DU that I have made that pretty clear. I stand with my President. I am so very grateful that we have a calm even keeled President that has led us through so many horrors. You do remember that he came into office with the advent of a great depression hanging over our heads? You remember that right? That Bushco had basically brought America to her knees. Remember our loses, our savings, our houses? Lost.
His even thinking and quite demeanor got us through all that. He never once set his hair on fire, he calmly proceeded to strengthen this nation.
I was not at DU back in 2008, however I saw a lot of outrage that he was not moving fast enough to suit many people. One site I read a lot back then, after unanimously supporting him, they turned on a dime. Sad that, it really was.
Rhett, you say some here don't like attacks on the left and that they split this party? Take a moment, I asked you to honestly think about this. Clearly think with out hating me, you must see the vicious attacks on this President here at DU. Worse than Bush etc etc, I will never vote for anyone unless they are a true progressive. Please, an honest answer. Is that not divisive?
We are a Government of the People. For the People. All the people.
Peace~
History repeats itself.
