Being so new to DU, I spend most of my time here observing and trying to get the lay of the land.

But the more time I spend on DU, the more I am convinced that some are competing for Miss/Mr. anti-congeniality. It was blatantly obvious to me who won the dubious distinction in that thread. I'm happy to see that you have survived such a nasty attack campaign.

Made my day too!

When I came across the second derp post, I nearly fell off my chair laughing. I needed that thread and this one too!

More than anything else, the gratuitous baiting tactic seems unnecessarily cruel.

Perhaps it is the shock reverberating throughout the nation that is responsible for such extreme polarization. Still, when people are trying to come to grips with a senseless, horrifying and tragic event, it may not be wise to bait, bait, bait.

I like these rules.

This would certainly have the effect of paving the way for new members in a much less confusing and disconcerting manner.

Thank You

Thank you so much!

Color me confused too!

I found myself caught up in some pretty confusing OPs which would start out in one direction only to plunge sharply into vitriolic combat. I posted in a few but was mostly kept busy trying to keep all the names and various subthreads straight which were made more confusing by numerous references to past history. I sometimes feel as though I'm constantly running in circles and fighting to catch my breath. People here certainly do have extraordinary memories. Guess it will take me longer than I thought to learn the ropes.

I can say, though, that I've been very grateful for and certainly have enjoyed the humor breaks and more light hearted posts I've come across. Although the important information I'm able to glean at DU has been very beneficial, ending my evening on a lighter note makes for a better night's rest and I thank everyone here for that.
