being against NAFTA at the time was very uncool. Troglodyte, Bircher, Flat Earther- the insults were

almost as bad as the insults thrown at those against the forced purchase of corporate insurance without a public option. That brought out the big guns: Racist, Pro Death- etc. It's surreal, but it's progressive alright. Progressively outrageous.

When some of us asked what the people that actually manufacture things, that actually do "work" would do when there's no WORK, we were told that they could find jobs in the financial sector, or they could serve McDonalds burgers. "We run the world" we were told. Get busy and Sell Some Insurance Already, Fool!

Just five years back, we had this ultra serious young man from the Illinois Senate who stated that if elected to the Oval Office, he'd be all about smashing NAFTA. Now he is one of the major political leaders behind the TPP!

What if almost everything we've been told has been a lie? Stay tuned...

Democrats controlled the House, Senate and White house from 2009-2011

and instead of focusing on green jobs and energy independence, they focused on passing a law that requires everyone in the US to buy corporate insurance, without even hearing from single payer advocates (Dem Max Baucus had them arrested).

Wouldn't it have been great if the priorities were different?

Clinton didn't do a GD thing for energy independence during his entire 8 years.

Why was that?

Blaming repubs makes some people feel better, but the truth is neither party wants energy independence. That's a fact, proven by history. And the sooner Citizens realize that neither party wants energy independence, the sooner the problem can be fixed.

"He is expected to present his final report to the U.N. General Assembly in October."

And until then? And once the "report" is filed, what then?

"As a matter of international law, the U.S. drone campaign in Pakistan is ... being conducted without the consent of the elected representatives of the people, or the legitimate Government of the State," Emmerson said in a statement issued by the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights in Geneva.

It is being done without the consent of the American people who aren't supposed to even know about it except when it makes the *current* administration look "tough on terror". But there's barely a peep. And this is how buy-partisanship is achieved.

By the way, some recent research turned up the fact that Porter Goss, a co-sponsor of the USA PATRIOT Act and a co-chair of the Joint 9/11 Intelligence Inquiry was having breakfast with a one General Mahmud Almed-----get this---who is identified by the FBI as one of the chief money men behind the hijackers----- on the morning of 911.<<-----Please re read that!

On the morning of Sept. 11, Goss and Graham were having breakfast with a Pakistani general named Mahmud Ahmed -- the soon-to-be-sacked head of Pakistan's intelligence service. Ahmed ran a spy agency notoriously close to Osama bin Laden and the Taliban.

Check this out:

Porter Goss (of Operation 40- the grandaddy spooks) holds a mini press conference outside the Capitol presumably after the first and second planes hit -and before/during flight 77 hit--(goss@0:29):

I think that's flight 77. And that is an explosion before 77 hits. And this is one of the most important tv clips aired on that day, and few have either seen or remember it.

Check out who was in Operation 40:
Frank Sturgis (who would later become one of the Watergate burglars); Felix Rodriguez (a CIA officer who later was involved in the capture and summary execution of Che Guevara); Luis Posada Carriles (held in the US in 2010 on charges of illegal immigration, he is demanded by Venezuela for his key role in the execution of the 1976 Cubana Flight 455 bombing); Orlando Bosch (founder of the counterrevolutionary Coordination of United Revolutionary Organizations, that organized the 1976 murder of Chilean former minister Orlando Letelier); Rafael 'Chi Chi' Quintero; Virgilio Paz Romero; Pedro Luis Diaz Lanz; Bernard Barker; Porter Goss; and Barry Seal. Members took part in the April 1961 Bay of Pigs Invasion directed against the government of Cuban revolutionary leader Fidel Castro.

The only known picture of Op 40:

Seal is seated third from left. Sitting right next to him (second from left) is Porter Goss. Beside Goss is notorious "freedom fighter" Felix Rodriguez (front left), a Cuban vice cop under the corrupt Mob-run Batista regime in Cuba who later became an Iran Contra operative and a confidant of the first George Bush.

On the other side of the table is the the only spook celebrant displaying any regard for tradecraft... Covering his face with his sport coat is Frank Sturgis, famous for being one of the Watergate burglars.

a certain Senator wanted to say hi...

Remember that guy?

The one that had Doctors and Nurses arrested at a hearing?

Baucus’s Raucous Caucus: Doctors, Nurses and Activists Arrested Again for Protesting Exclusion of Single-Payer Advocates at Senate Hearing on Healthcare

http://www.democracynow.org/2009/5/13/baucus_raucus_caucus_doctors_nurses_and

Advocates of single-payer universal healthcare — the system favored by most Americans — continue to protest their exclusion from discussions on healthcare reform. On Tuesday, five doctors, nurses and single-payer advocates were arrested at a Senate Finance Committee hearing, bringing the total number of arrests in less than a week to thirteen. We speak with two of those arrested: Single Payer Action founder Russell Mokhiber and Dr. Margaret Flowers of Physicians for a National Health Program. [includes rush transcript]

Can you imagine the outrage on Liberal sites if a Republican had done exactly that?

I can.

the pills come with a mandated warning that lists suicidal behavior

as a side effect.

why do you think the warning lists suicide and is mandated?

Maybe because it's a documented side effect?

OP: Here's a time mag article that tried to bring this problem to the attention of the public a few years ago:

America's Medicated Army

When it comes to fighting wars, though, troops have historically been barred from using such drugs in combat. And soldiers — who are younger and healthier on average than the general population — have been prescreened for mental illnesses before enlisting.

The increase in the use of medication among U.S. troops suggests the heavy mental and psychological price being paid by soldiers fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan. Pentagon surveys show that while all soldiers deployed to a war zone will feel stressed, 70% will manage to bounce back to normalcy. But about 20% will suffer from what the military calls "temporary stress injuries," and 10% will be afflicted with "stress illnesses." Such ailments, according to briefings commanders get before deploying, begin with mild anxiety and irritability, difficulty sleeping, and growing feelings of apathy and pessimism. As the condition worsens, the feelings last longer and can come to include panic, rage, uncontrolled shaking and temporary paralysis. The symptoms often continue back home, playing a key role in broken marriages, suicides and psychiatric breakdowns. The mental trauma has become so common that the Pentagon may expand the list of "qualifying wounds" for a Purple Heart — historically limited to those physically injured on the battlefield — to include posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Defense Secretary Robert Gates said on May 2 that it's "clearly something" that needs to be considered, and the Pentagon is weighing the change.

Using drugs to cope with battlefield traumas is not discussed much outside the Army, but inside the service it has been the subject of debate for years. "No magic pill can erase the image of a best friend's shattered body or assuage the guilt from having traded duty with him that day," says Combat Stress Injury, a 2006 medical book edited by Charles Figley and William Nash that details how troops can be helped by such drugs. "Medication can, however, alleviate some debilitating and nearly intolerable symptoms of combat and operational stress injuries" and "help restore personnel to full functioning capacity." >>More>

Germany has managed to figure it out

Germany leads the world in Solar photovoltaics.

But since the US Media largely ignores it, many don't know.

Let's ask them how to do it, since most of our scientists are working on killing "terrorists"

Solar power in Germany

Germany is the world's top photovoltaics (PV) installer, with a solar PV capacity as of December 2012 of more than 32.3 gigawatts (GW).[2] [3] The German new solar PV installations increased by about 7.6 GW in 2012, and solar PV provided 18 TWh (billion kilowatt-hours) of electricity in 2011, about 3% of total electricity.[4] Some market analysts expect this could reach 25 percent by 2050.[5] Germany has a goal of producing 35% of electricity from renewable sources by 2020 and 100% by 2050.

The sooner Americans realize that their government doesn't want energy independence the sooner we can elect people that do.

It's only been how long since the first embargo?

when they're done fixing NAFTA

It's amazing how the 1% got us to fight ourselves, while their getaway car drove off into the sunset.

Brilliant, really.

Or this country could focus on something like this:

Neuhardenberg Solar Park

Germany beat us in Solar Energy because "we" were and are doing what "we" were told the Soviets were going to do. Trying to "prevent" that cost a half billion dollars per year for 50 years. Money well spent?

Drones or Solar? Cake or Death? (apologies to Mr. Izzard)

Don't believe me, search "hemp oil" + frying or some such thing

I don't know a lot of things but I do know about hemp oil.

Maybe that label on the bottle is referring to extra virgin olive oil, which has a similar smoke point. Virgin olive oil shouldn't be used for frying either. Heating any oil past the smoke point and then eating it is not healthy. Look up "oil smoke point"

Olive Oil - Extra Virgin 320°F

Grape Seed 485ºF or 252ºC
Avocado 480ºF or 249ºC
Sesame 410ºF or 210ºC
Canola 400ºF or 204ºC
Macademia 385ºF or 196ºC

Most people fry things at 350-375 degrees.

"Hempseed oil has a relatively low smoke point and is not suitable for frying."
