Fox Contributor: Trump Rails Against Reporters, But Never Challenges Their Facts

by Sam Reisman | 2:43 pm, September 30th, 2016

When Donald Trump is upset about someone’s investigation, he will complain about the journalist and rail against the general unfairness of the media — but he will never challenge or attempt to refute the actual facts.

Fox contributor and RealClearPolitics editor A. B. Stoddard spoke on Happening Now Friday afternoon and explained the Republican candidate’s tack when dealing with stories he finds unfavorable.

Trump “is getting upset about people from his campaign telling reporters that they were critical of his performance in the debate,” she noted. Trump did tweet early Friday morning that readers should discount any story they read about him that cites “sources.”

“Whenever he tells that press are dishonest or that a story is fraudulent, the campaign actually never denies any of the specific allegations. You can ask people who’ve done investigations with the New York Times or the Washington Post,” Stoddard said. “He’ll rail against the reporter or the story, but he’ll never ask for corrections and dispute any facts as untrue.”

Trump Spins His Late-Night Tweeting as a Good Presidential Attribute

Source: Mediaite

by Josh Feldman | 2:45 pm, September 30th, 2016

If you thought it was ridiculous for Donald Trump to be tweeting about a former Miss Universe and some sex tape at 3 am, Trump wants you to know this is actually a good attribute in a president:

Donald J. Trump ✔
@realDonaldTrump

For those few people knocking me for tweeting at three o'clock in the morning, at least you know I will be there, awake, to answer the call!

The only question is will he be able to answer the call or will he tell his aides, “Not now, I have to come up with a good nickname to insult CNN’s John King with.”

Debate Commission Now Says Trump Had Audio 'Issues' Monday Night

Source: Talking Points Memo

After Donald Trump complained that his microphone at the first presidential debate was "terrible," the Commission on Presidential Debates issued a short statement Friday saying that the Republican nominee's audio had "issues."

"Regarding the first debate, there were issues regarding Donald Trump's audio that affected the sound level in the debate hall," the statement from the debate commission read.

-snip-

"I had a problem with a microphone that didn't work," he said on "Fox and Friends" Tuesday morning. "My microphone was terrible. I wonder, was it set up that way on purpose? My microphone, in the room they couldn't hear me, you know, it was going on and off. Which isn't exactly great. I wonder if it was set up that way, but it was terrible."

The one-sentence statement from the debate commission did not suggest that the audio issues Trump experienced affected the television broadcast of the debate.

‘Machado Meltdown’: The internet has a field day with Trump’s ‘sex tape’ freakout

After a relative month of calm, Donald Trump has gone back to his old ways this week after he lost Monday night’s big debate with Hillary Clinton.

On Friday morning, he went even further down the rabbit hole by telling voters to “check out” a nonexistent “sex tape” featuring former Miss Universe Alicia Machado.

Hillary Clinton quickly pounced on this and mocked Trump on Twitter for obsessively talking about about Machado over the past several days.

FYI: Trump's 18 years of fat shaming Alicia Machado is the longest commitment he's ever made to a woman.

Clinton Takes Down Trump's Dark View Of US In Speech On National Service

Source: Talking Points Memo

-snip-

Speaking in Fort Pierce, Florida, Clinton referenced Trump's campaign slogan, telling the crowd that this election is "not just about what makes America great—because I think that America already is great—but about what we should to to make it even greater."

Clinton noted that at the Republican National Convention Trump described a "hopeless, broken nation. I don’t see that," she said. "That in no way resembles the strong and vibrant America I know."

She also recalled that Trump told voters, "I alone can fix it," saying that he has a "strongman approach" to leadership. Clinton said that Trump believes in "one person getting supreme power and exercising it ruthlessly," citing his admiration for Russian President Vladimir Putin. "It is never just one person, not even someone as powerful as the president," she said, adding that positive achievements have "always happened because people have worked together."

Clinton then pivoted to her call for a renewed focus on community service, praising members of Americorps and the Peace Corps present in the audience. She offered several proposals regarding service, including expanding Americorps and creating a national service reserve.

Newt Gingrich: Alicia Machado Is “The New Benghazi Lie”

“I think as fascinating to look at how the elite media bought — this is the new Benghazi lie.”

posted on Sept. 30, 2016, at 8:39 a.m.

BuzzFeed News Reporter

Newt Gingrich on Thursday called Hillary Clinton’s attack on Donald Trump for mocking former Miss Universe Alicia Machado’s weight “as false as Benghazi” and “the new Benghazi lie.”

In an interview on Sean Hannity’s radio show on Thursday, the former house speaker and current Trump adviser said, “I think as fascinating to look at how the elite media bought — this is the new Benghazi lie — what Hillary tried to set up, and what they spend apparently months preparing was an ambush that was as false as Benghazi. It was as false as her claim she was under fire in Bosnia. It was as false as the lies she told about her emails.”

“The elite media, which is Clinton, they totally identify with her, they took it hook, line, and sinker,” Gingrich continued. “For three or four days they have run with it, and now, as happened in Ferguson, as happened in Benghazi, as happened in Bosnia, it’s all starting to fall apart because it’s based on a series of falsehoods.”

Gingrich said Trump’s 1997 comments about Machado, in which Trump said she was an “eating machine,” “plumply,” and she “ate a lot of everything,” were Trump trying to make Miss Universe work as a business and him “actually being very positive.”

Trump Has a Real Twitter Problem

Rick Klein: “How has Donald Trump gone through three campaign managers without anyone being able to lock him out of his Twitter account? Or at least overnight – or change the password on his smart phone? Trump has redefined the ability to dominate a news cycle with a Tweet. But, as always, that cuts in both directions. Does Trump really want to spend another news cycle on his feud with the former Miss Universe? He’s now calling her ‘disgusting,’ and is urging followers to check out her ‘sex tape and past’ Is that the way to get past a rough debate night? Every passing day has brought more Trump complaints about that debate. The days have also revealed the brilliance of Hillary Clinton’s debate gambits. She set traps that snapped so hard that they continue to reverberate, right through her opponent’s Tweets.”

Don’t underestimate Cosmo. Women’s magazines are taking on Trump.

Women’s magazines are a secret weapon in politics, and Hillary Clinton has noticed.

by Tara Golshan Sep 30, 2016, 8:30am

The day after Hillary Clinton landed a devastating blow to Donald Trump over his history of sexism and crass comments about Alicia Machado at the first presidential debate, Cosmopolitan released an eerily well-timed profile of the former Miss Universe contestant.

It’s a slice of a new brand of feminist media afloat — one that’s not afraid to be political. Hillary Clinton has noticed.

“Look, she wrote a post for the Toast,” New York Magazine writer Rebecca Traister told me earlier this summer about Clinton’s farewell post to the now-shuttered site home to feminist musings. “She has been very interested in young feminist writers in a way that suggests to me she understands that there is another media in play and it’s a feminist media.”

There has been a tangible shift in the kind of content produced by women’s magazines in recent elections. In the past decade, publications have shifted from a period of fluff election coverage in the early aughts to a platform for impactful political content, from interviews with important figures in the election to sharp policy analyses.

Howard Dean Says Sorry-Not-Sorry for Trump Cocaine Tweet: ‘I Apologize for Using Innuendo’

Source: Mediaite

Former Vermont Governor and DNC chairman Howard Dean offered a sardonic apology to Republican presidential noninee Donald Trump Friday over his recent suggestion that the real estate mogul is a cocaine user.

During a conversation with Stephanie Ruhle about the media’s responsibility to hold Trump accountable to the truth, Dean lamented how much time networks have given Trump to offer questionable innuendos that make for juicy content to drive ratings.

“I apologize for using innuendo. I don’t think it’s a good thing to do, I don’t think it’s the right thing to do…I’m not unwilling to apologize for using innuendo. I don’t think that’s a reasonable thing to do. Donald Trump has used innuendo from the day he got into this campaign, and you media have not called him on it.”
