Hurricane Hilary strengthened to a Category 4 storm on Friday as it moves toward the Southwest. The National Hurricane Center has issued a tropical storm watch for areas of Southern California.

It's expected to weaken before hitting California, though officials warned of major rainfall and winds. Still, the National Hurricane Center is urging residents in the region to prepare for major rainfall, high winds, and possible flooding through the weekend and into next week.

SAG-AFTRA president Fran Drescher is done babysitting studio executives amid the failed Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers negotiations that led to the current strike.

The “Nanny” TV icon told Variety that Walt Disney Co. CEO Bob Iger’s recent comments about the SAG-AFTRA strike were “tone deaf” and only further cemented Iger’s status as a “land baron of a medieval time” with a massive wealth disparity in Hollywood. During a Thursday morning CNBC interview ahead of the official declaration of the dual-union strike, Iger called the then-possible work stoppage a “very disturbing” and “disruptive” development — especially post-COVID.

“I found them terribly repugnant and out of touch. Positively tone deaf,” Drescher said about Iger’s statement hours before the official SAG strike was announced. “I don’t think it served him well. If I were that company [Disney], I would lock him behind doors and never let him talk to anybody about this, because it’s so obvious that he has no clue as to what is really happening on the ground with hard-working people that don’t make anywhere near the salary he is making.”

She added, “High seven figures, eight figures, this is crazy money that they make and they don’t care if they’re land barons of a medieval time.”

To note, Iger just renewed his Disney contract as CEO through 2026. Iger made $24 million in fiscal year 2022, according to Deadline. The Walt Disney Company laid off 7,000 workers earlier this year.

On an early August morning in 2021, a family — two parents in their 30s and 40s, their 1-year-old, and a big dog — set out on a hike in California’s Sierra Nevada mountains. The temperature was a comfortable 70 degrees Fahrenheit when they started out, but the day became dangerously hot as the four began the climb back up to where their truck was parked. At ground level, the temperature was likely hotter than 110 degrees F. They never made it back. All four of them — the dog, the parents, the baby — died on the trail.

County sheriffs struggled to determine what caused a healthy family to drop dead with no evidence of foul play or struggle. Was it toxic algae from the river that flowed along the bottom of the gulch they hiked beside? Did they accidentally breathe in carbon monoxide from an open mine shaft near the trail? But the answer was right in front of them the whole time. Two months after the bodies were found, authorities announced the official cause of death: hyperthermia and dehydration. The family had overheated.

That story is one of many examples of heat’s deadly toll in The Heat Will Kill You First, author and climate change journalist Jeff Goodell’s new opus about extreme heat. “If there’s one thing in this book that will save your life,” Goodell writes, “it is this: … if your body gets too hot too fast — it doesn’t matter if that heat comes from the outside on a hot day or the inside from a raging fever — you are in big trouble.”

Heat is an invisible, stealthy force, Goodell explains. Because we’re all familiar with it, we think we know how to handle it, how to game it. But heat can’t be negotiated with past a certain threshold — if your body gets hot enough, you die. It’s as simple as that.

You're not wrong. Substance abuse can lead to permanent psychosis in some people. In particular

Abuse of opioids, stimulants like methamphetamine, Adderall, cocaine and chronic ethyl alcohol abuse. Many people don't know this unfortunately. If they are chronic users and addicted they may not be capable of understanding it once the damage is done.

There are legions of psychotics in society that have no idea that they are mentally ill. The usual explanation for this is anosognosia. These patients are especially difficult to treat and most have limited prospects of recovery.

They walk amongst us, drive, have kids, work in high places, teach our children, preach hell fire and damnation and own firearms. Among other things. They gravitate to like minded individuals who are also in psychosis which just reinforces their lack of insight and cements their delusions.

Their are groups online warning of so-called gang's of what are called "gang stalkers" who use mind control by microwaves according to self proclaimed experts. They offer treatments which of course don't help and these vulnerable people spend lots of money on these charlatans with no positive results.

I've seen it repeatedly, first hand. It's very sad and it's an American epidemic.

OceanGate Expeditions has repeatedly claimed that Boeing, NASA and the University of Washington were involved in designing their submersible.

The submersible went missing on Sunday with five people on board, and is expected to run out of air by 7am on Thursday
On Wednesday, both Boeing and the University of Washington confirmed that they had not been involved in the submersible's design.

Boeing and the University of Washington denied being involved in the design of the missing Titanic tourist submersible - despite OceanGate's repeatedly boasting of their collaboration.

OceanGate Expeditions stated on its website that the sub, named Titan, was designed with the help of Boeing, the University of Washington and NASA.

Justice for AJ, Mom of four murdered in Florida

Her story:

On Friday, June 2, 2023, Ajike "Aj" Owens, a devoted and loving mother of four, was tragically and unjustifiably murdered in an attempt to protect her children from racism and violence.

What Happened to AJ:

Ajike's children were playing in a field next to an Ocala apartment complex when an unidentified 58-year-old white woman reportedly began yelling at them and calling them racial slurs. The children left but accidentally left an iPad behind, which the woman took. When one of the children went to her residence to retrieve it, she threw it, hitting the boy and cracking the screen. After Ajike's children informed her of what happened, she walked across the street with her kids to speak with the woman. She knocked on the door, and at that point, the woman allegedly shot through the door, hitting Ajike, who later died from her injuries. The woman responsible has not yet been identified, arrested, or charged with anything by law enforcement.

About AJ:

Ajike Owens (affectionately known as AJ) graciously affected all she came into contact with her infectious personality. She had a smile that would light up the room. But most of all, she was known for how much she loved and absolutely lived for her four children. To say she loved her children unconditionally is an understatement. She was a single mother whose life centered around her children. She was the Team Mom for her children’s football/cheerleading teams. She excelled professionally as a manager in the Restaurant/Hospitality industry. She was a devoted Christian who believed in bringing her kids up in a supportive Christian environment. After being a devoted mother, she was a devoted friend that took friendships to heart. There wasn’t anything that she wouldn’t do for those near and dear to her heart. She often would give to other single mothers that were in similar situations that she’d been in.
