I have lived "all over". You seem to have the impression that everyone is going down with the ship, each country with its own individual reason. That would be incorrect. There are a lot of reasons for global decline but most stem from the socially backward, educationally insufficient, downward spiral of the good old US of A. The US is leading the pack downward because of its military power, ill-gotten loot and non-global thinking. The US is by no means the beacon of an advanced civilization. I can think of several countries that are at least moving the right direction like Norway, Slovenia, Sweden, Iceland, France, even Italy far outclasses the US in most things that support the common human being.
And we have Trump, the GOP and the .1% in control. It's embarrassing and disgusting.

That's how many days I've had to see how crazy this world is. I've always appreciated a thoughtful and measured point of view. But I've also seen a thoughtful and measured point of view slowly eroded until the foundation that supports human values disintegrates. At that point thoughtful and measured is meaningless.
Evil knows best how to destroy and the laws of thermodynamics teaches us that a broken thing can never return to its original form in time; it must be made into a new thing. The GOP knows how to destroy; that's all they know how to do and they do it well. The question is do we allow them to continue to destroy forcing us to recreate things in their image or do we stop them from using us to do so.
They have their game plan pretty well set as malformed as it is. Our mistake would be to play their game at all.
That's how I see it although I probably have a few days left to change my mind.
All the more reason to think that politics
is the main control behind the influx of accusations at this point in time and not spead over less political seasons. We have multiple solid accusations against Moore and other GOP polititians, we have some strong and some weak accusations against Hollywood stars and elites, and we have a flurry of unsubstantiated accusations that originate from the rw in too timely a manner to be coincidence.
But what about Trump? Power. That's all. It makes me wonder whether the office of the presidency is now a danger to democracy at this point in history. It's too powerful, or should I say too controllable. Parliamentary system? Look to Scandinavia Maybe? Iceland?
The president, congress and oligarchs must be accountable. The paid rw media must be made accountable. Only then can we heal these issues that have dogged us for generations.
I think our brains have perceptions and recall
that we underestimate too many times. It's an amazing bit of evolution with survival, memory, emotion, sensation, calculation and imagination all interwoven like a hologram. Our ability to recall sensations and reconstitute them as visual or audible experiences kind of covers the spiritual and ghostly feelings for me.
My most beloved dog still seemed with me and around me for months after he died but I always knew it was the sensations and memories and my expectations of him being there that I was remembering. For six months after my dad died he appeard in my dreams every night. We would talk, I'd ask questions which he answered, make jokes... after a few months, he was still there but never looked at me, then he'd be there but we didn't communicate and finally one night I saw him with glowing eyes, he walked through a door and never returned to my dreams. I know it was my minds way of dealing with deep grief and loss through memories of his personality, form and sound.
I don't belittle the fact that people see and hear things of loved ones, they are as real as if they really were there. I just think it's our vast mind doing its job of survival and healing.
It makes the saying that "they continue to live in our hearts" a very real thing.
I think that there is a point where wealth
becomes meaningless. Their view of the world is so askew they don't see that everything is cancelling out. Maybe the acumulation of crimes against us all destroys a world order and democracy, but mass acumulation of wealth will do the same.
An article today said the king of Saudi Arabia just claimed three trillion dollars by arresting "his adversaries" I don't remember the wording. What the hell is three trillion dollars? It's a meaningless number. Billions is meaningless. It's power, control, the ability to make or break your surroundings. The numbers mean nothing.
Where is our wealth? I want peace, health and a furure for my children, and the knowledge that when I die they will go on. This is real. Their large numbers will eat them first then disappear in their fear of an unrelenting planet and it's inhabitants.
Where is the line where escapism becomes reality?
It is reality to me. The rest is a wall to tear down, it's where I work to make my insignificant difference in the world. Then I go home to what's real and the rest can go to hell.
Here's my simple overview from history and memory...
Those born in the late 40s through the 50s and grew up in the 60s were either the love children, freedom, down with the establishment, super liberal, socialist, live in the woods and off the land, pro aboriginals, haters of posessions type... or they were strong supporters of the US who were ready to go to Vietnam and who became disillusioned with what it all turned out to be. Of course there were the in-betweens who just watched it all happen.
Then came the 70s where Americans started becoming lazy through new wealth and divided by extremes in politics as well as an emerging knowledge of the world with its fears and smashed expectations.
Then came the 80s where they found the power of greed and the hypnotic effect of ignorance. At which point they became gullible to the rising wealthy as well as the religion of prosperity. The powerful preyed on greed and religion played on the guilt of a free and loose past.
The 90s were a consolidation of the previous decades and the culmination of libertarian conservative patience and accumulated power that began in the 40s and 50s.
The new Millennium? Well here we are. You can make your own observation and conclusions about what the boomers were and why we are where we are.
Thinking abstractly and globally
becomes such a chore when a person is spoon fed a two dimensional reality pre-packaged and served without the slightest effort on our part.. hourly, daily, yearly.. When life can be spun with authority and spoken entertainingly by someone who sounds just like a "real" person, who acts like they've been in the same trenches with you, it's such a relief. As they explain so simply, you're not alone in this big evil liberal world.
It's so much easier to know all the answers instantly. Just add void and stir.

Thanks for being one of those who feel the sorrow. There seem to be less and less who understand the magitude of what we are loosing. It's a book older than civilization and older than these magificent life forms. And it tells the the story, paints the pictures and sears them into our collective memories with the warning that without unity with the earth we too will pass into oblivion as if we had never existed. But the mark we'll leave will be named destruction then forgotten.
I am deeply hurt by all this and these pictures will be buned into my heart for the rest of my life. I know that upper back country better than the maps. It was my birth, my passion, my life, my family and it will be my end.
What's it worth?
Is a human life worth more than the memories of millions or the natural wonder of a thousand years or the habitat of animals who are innocent of the human stupidity they suffer or the only real inheritance we could have given to our children's children's children? I think not.
To me, this is a milestone in the destruction of the planet. The earth is dying... and no human is worth that. May we all die off so the earth can resuscitate itself. We have done enough damage. We are the virus and we are killing our host with the stupid we have produced.
I am digusted with the human race.
I have nothing else to offer it.
