Meet the South’s biggest idiot

Meet the South’s biggest idiot: “I feel very much like the Jews must have felt in the very beginning of the Nazi Germany takeover”

Confederate flags returned to the cradle of the Confederacy on Saturday as hundreds of flag supporters arrived at Alabama’s Capitol to protest the removal of four rebel flags from a Confederate monument next to the building where the Confederacy was formed.

Standing at the bottom of the Capitol’s steps, where 50 years ago Martin Luther King Jr. led a march for civil rights, Tim Steadman said it wasn’t right to remove the flags.

“Right now, this past week with everything that is going on, I feel very much like the Jews must have felt in the very beginning of the Nazi Germany takeover,” he said. “I mean I do feel that way, like there is a concerted effort to wipe people like me out, to wipe out my heritage and to erase the truths of history.”

Days earlier, Gov. Robert Bentley had ordered the flags taken down from the 1898 monument amid national controversy about whether Confederate symbols should be displayed on state grounds.

There has been a lot of talk about flags

and what is flying over South Carolina. Rightly so.

Yet it is actually Georgia that is openly flying the flag of the CSA

The first official national flag of the Confederacy flown from March 4, 1861 to May 1, 1863.

Flag of Georgia May 8, 2003-present

But then the flags of the CSA are legally equal to the flag of the United States

Provisions of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated
Relative to Georgia, U.S., and Confederate Flags

Sec. 50-3-9. Abuse of federal, state, or Confederate flag unlawful.

It shall be unlawful for any person, firm, or corporation to mutilate, deface, defile, or abuse contemptuously the flag of the United States, the flag, coat of arms, or emblem of the State of Georgia, or the flag or emblem of the Confederate States of America by any act whatever.

Toby Keith and NRA: What they say about the Charleston shooting

Toby Keith and NRA: What they say about the Charleston shooting

In the wake of the Charleston mass shooting, Barack Obama is again calling for gun control. But others say stricter gun laws will not make Americans safer.

Country music star Toby Keith said on Thursday that stricter gun laws would not have made a difference in Charleston

“Countries all over the world that have really strict gun policies, like Oslo, Norway. It happens there,” said Mr. Keith probably referring to 2011 shooting and bombing in Norway which killed 77 people.

Keith said that if a police officer had been praying at The Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church on Wednesday, "maybe seven or eight of those nine people would still be alive."

Waco police rarely dispatched to Twin Peaks prior to biker shootout, records reveal

Patrol officers were seldom sent to investigate trouble at Twin Peaks restaurant prior to the May deadly biker shootout in Waco, Texas, records obtained by Yahoo News reveal.

The scarce number of calls conflicts with how law enforcement portrayed the self-described “breastaurant” immediately after the brazen lunch-hour rampage.

“We have been made aware in the last few months of rival biker gangs — rival criminal biker gangs — being here and causing issues,” Waco police Sgt. Patrick Swanton told reporters outside the sports bar turned crime scene last month. “We have attempted to work with the local management of Twin Peaks to get that cut back, to no avail.”

If Twin Peaks was a powder keg leading up the deadly brawl — there’s apparently not much of paper trail to prove it.

Fox News security contractor faces gun charges after Baltimore unrest

As several hundred protesters milled around Baltimore City Hall after a citywide curfew went into effect May 1, a mounted city officer on Fayette Street said he spotted a man holding handcuffs and an ammunition box.

Officer John Potter then watched Donald F. Scott — who was working as a security guard for Fox News at the time — open the rear hatch of a Chevy Suburban and pull a Glock handgun from his waistband, according to the officer's account.

Scott, 50, has been in jail since the incident, held on $350,000 bail on two gun charges, according to the Baltimore public defender's office.

During the unrest following the death of Freddie Gray, a number of national media outlets reported from Baltimore's streets. Television networks such as Fox provided security to accompany reporters and personalities, including Geraldo Rivera.

Always know the local laws before you carry...

The irony of here is that he person he was detailed to guard was Geraldo Rivera- noted gun control proponent.

Woman fires at home burglars: 'I let loose on them'

Woman fires at home burglars: 'I let loose on them'
Detroit — Five men who broke into Dietta Gueye's east side home early Tuesday morning got more than they bargained for when the 34-year-old woman opened fire at them with the 9 mm Glock she keeps by her bedside.

"They weren't ready for that 9 I had," she chuckled from a lawn chair in front of her house hours after the home invasion.

One of the men shot back and hit Gueye in the right thigh. But after treatment at a local hospital, she said she felt fine.

"I'm kind of just a little sore," she said. "I'm OK, though."

Unlike the woman in NJ who was stalked by a violent ex and was murdered while waiting months for police to process a gun permit

this lady managed to drive off five attackers while sustaining minor injury.

For those who will say "Call the police..."
Police response time. It takes an average of 58 minutes — nearly an hour — for Detroit police to respond to any call, whether top priority or routine. The fastest response time for any precinct in the city is 31 minutes; the longest is 115 minutes, or almost two hours. By contrast, the average national response time is 11 minutes, while police in Dearborn, on Detroit’s western border, arrive on average within seven minutes.

edit> apologies to Detroit EMS
Craig said this was largely a data management issue, as the calls did not take into account delays caused by dispatchers and improperly included non-priority calls in the data, which skewed the response time.

With those data issues corrected, Detroit police still take about seven minutes longer to respond to life-threatening calls than the national average, 11 minutes. They hope to improve response time to meet the national average by years end.
