Ex-RNC spokesman: 'Steve Wynn has got to go'

Source: The Hill

Doug Heye, a former spokesman for the Republican National Committee (RNC), is calling for Casino mogul Steve Wynn to be ousted as the RNC's finance chairman after sexual misconduct allegations surfaced against him Friday.

In a tweet, Heye said the allegations against Wynn, the CEO of Wynn Resorts, appeared to be "a lot worse" than past scandals that roiled the RNC and led to a number of ousters.

Heye's comments came on the heels of a Wall Street Journal report detailing allegations against Wynn that span decades. Wynn has denied the allegations, which he said were instigated by his ex-wife.

The fallout for Wynn mounted throughout the day Friday, with stock prices for Wynn Resorts plummeting.

Rep. Meehan won't seek reelection

Source: Politico

Pennsylvania GOP Rep. Pat Meehan will not seek reelection this year, after revelations that he used taxpayer funds to settle a sexual harassment case involving a former staffer.

Meehan’s decision came days after the New York Times reported that the former aide had accused him of making unwanted romantic advances and that he settled the case with the staffer by paying her out of a member’s allowance fund.

During media interviews this week, the congressman denied that he sexually harassed the woman and vowed to run for reelection. He said the woman invited his communications and called her his “soul mate.”

Meehan, a suburban Philadelphia Republican, was first elected in 2010 as part of the GOP’s House takeover.
