In newly filed documents, Mount Sinai Hospital and Dr. Steven Itzkowitz point out Cindy is trying to get damages for lost earnings relating to performance fees and income derived from merchandise.
They have demanded documents between Glenn and the Eagles to see what his cut is for concert and music profits. The hospital and doctor want to see the contracts before the case can move forward.

Glenn Frey passed away in January 2016 from complications from rheumatoid arthritis, acute ulcerative colitis, and pneumonia.
In her lawsuit, Frey's widow claimed that he was under the care of Mount Sinai and Dr. Itzkowitz from October 19, 2015 to November 2015. She claims they failed to "promptly and properly treat [Frey's] ulcerative colitis and associated symptoms and diseases of the bowel."
"As a result of the foregoing acts of negligence," the suit read, "Glenn Frey was rendered sick, lame and disabled, suffered injuries, pain, mental anguish, was compelled to seek medical care and attention, incurred expenses thereof, and was permanently injured and disabled until the time of his death."

Chantell Grant, 26, and Andrea Stoudemire, 36, volunteers at the nonprofit Mothers Against Senseless Killings, or MASK, were gunned down Friday on a corner near the south Chicago neighborhood of Auburn Gresham as they promoted efforts to end gun violence. The killer, riding in an SUV, escaped.
Members of the anti-violence group have been occupying the corner where Grant and Stoudemire were shot since its founding in 2015. Parents bring their children to the spot and have cookouts, learn to dance and play games.

The school closed its Sexual Civility and Empowerment unit in June 2018 after finding workers didn't properly document and report students' sexual assault complaints.
The Columbus Dispatch learned of the audit's findings through public records requests.
University spokesman Chris Davey told the newspaper it's an unacceptable failure and among the reasons the school dissolved the center and redesigned its program for supporting victims of sexual assault.
The university says all 57 cases have now been reported to law enforcement. Davey says the survivors were informed of their rights and options, but none pursued police investigations.

A Maryland investment adviser awaits sentencing for defrauding investors out of millions of dollars, some of which she spent on astrological gems, cosmetic medical procedures and religious rituals in India.
The federal judge set to sentence Dawn Bennett on Wednesday presided over a two-week trial last year that resulted in Bennett's conviction on charges of securities fraud, wire fraud and bank fraud.
Jurors heard testimony that Bennett used investors' money to pay more than $800,000 for prayers by Hindu priests in India to ward off federal investigators while her business collapsed.
An FBI agent said investigators found evidence in Bennett's home that she tried to silence U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission investigators by casting "hoodoo" spells.

Most of the civilian casualties were apparently inflicted during Afghan and NATO operations against insurgents, such as airstrikes and night raids on militant hideouts. Insurgents often hide among civilians.
The report by the U.N. mission in Afghanistan said 403 civilians were killed by Afghan forces in the first six months of the year and another 314 by international forces, a total of 717. That’s compared to 531 killed by the Taliban, an Islamic State affiliate and other militants during the same period.
It said 300 of those killed by militants were directly targeted. The Taliban have been carrying out near-daily attacks, mainly targeting security forces.
One in three casualties was caused by ground combat and a fifth were caused by roadside bombs, the report said.
The Taliban have rejected calls for a cease-fire as they hold talks with the United States aimed at ending the 18-year war. An Islamic State affiliate has meanwhile launched attacks targeting security forces as well as minority Shiites.

Arturo Alfonso Schomburg, also known as Arthur Schomburg, was a meticulous historian and important Harlem Renaissance figure. During his career, he was referred to as the “Sherlock Holmes of Black History” due to his exhaustive research on Africa and the diaspora.
Schomburg was born Jan. 24. 1874 to a Black mother from the Virgin Islands and a German father who lived in Puerto Rico. As a boy, Schomburg was told by a teacher that Black history was a farce, which set him on a path early on to prove that doubter wrong.
In 1871, Schomburg moved to Harlem, New York and was an active member of the fight for Cuba and Puerto Rico’s independence. When his home country became part of the United States, Schomburg embraced the African-American community that he was now a part of. This set him on a path of serious study of the connection Black Americans had with Africa.
In 1911, Schomburg founded the Negro Society for Historical Research, and in 1922, he was named president of The American Negro Academy. As a collector and researcher of African art, Schomburg amassed a massive collection which was put on display by the New York Public Library’s Division of Negro Literature, History and Prints in 1926. He became the department’s curator and remained so until his death in 1932.

Donald Trump pummeled Baltimore years ago in a series of tweets — but back then he held Barack Obama responsible for the city’s crime, pointing out that he was an “African American president” and sarcastically referring to him as “great.”

Now, suddenly, Trump no longer considers Baltimore the responsibility of the man in the White House. Rather, he’s put blame on Rep. Elijah Cummings (D-Md.), whom Trump bizarrely blasted as a “racist” Sunday, for what the president called his “rodent-infested mess” of a district where “no human being would want to live.”

But Trump has also indicated that he’s furious the House Oversight and Reform Committee, headed by Cummings, voted Thursday to authorize a subpoena for all work-related texts and emails sent and received on personal accounts by his daughter Ivanka Trump and son-in-law Jared Kushner. Both Ivanka Trump and Kushner have admitted to using personal accounts for work messages.
The president has repeatedly slammed Hillary Clinton for using a personal server for work-related emails when she was secretary of state, which triggered Trump-encouraged chants of “lock her up” at his 2016 campaign rallies. Trump on Saturday accused Cummings in a tweet of now spending “all of his time trying to hurt innocent people through ‘Oversight.’”

According to a new report by the Wall Street Journal, more than 2.5 billion pounds of U.S. beef, pork, and poultry are currently in cold storage, waiting for buyers. One analyst told the Journal that those stockpiles, combined with modest U.S. demand growth and serious uncertainty surrounding export conditions, could lead to “one of the biggest corrections we’ve seen in the industry in several years.”
Some meat packers are canceling investment and expansion plans in the U.S., while others are reportedly scaling back production. Storage facilities, meanwhile, are reportedly running out of room to store the near-record amounts of excess meat.
Part of the glut is thanks to long-term overproduction caused by declining feed costs. U.S. meat production has been rising steadily for nearly a decade, and will reach a record 102.7 billion pounds this year, according to USDA projections.
But the best prospect for selling all that meat—exporting it—has hit a snag courtesy of President Donald Trump. Trump’s trade war has driven up tariffs on U.S. meat in major foreign markets including Mexico, China, and Canada. China imposed a 25% tariff on American pork in April, and raised it to a staggering 62% this month. According to the Journal, prices for pork products have increased sharply there, and exports from the U.S. declined by 18% in the first half of 2018. The largest market for U.S. pork, Mexico, doubled its pork tariff to 20% on June 5.
