Runaway Plaintiff: One of Kansas GOP’s last hopes for holding Senate seat goes AWOL

Runaway Plaintiff: One of Kansas GOP’s last hopes for holding Senate seat goes AWOL

A lawyer who is suing the Kansas Democratic Party had an extremely awkward moment on Monday when he showed up before the Kansas Supreme Court in Topeka missing something crucial to his case: his client.

<snip>

Haney sued the Democratic Party on behalf of Kansan David Orel, who claimed that Democrats disenfranchised him and other Democratic voters in the state when Taylor dropped out of the race. However, Orel’s claims have been undermined by the fact that he is the father of one of Republican Gov. Sam Brownback’s senior staffers.

In court, the Democratic Party’s attorneys hoped to question Orel about his true allegiances, but Orel declined to attend Monday’s hearing rather than face close questioning. Attorney Randall Rathbun said that the case should be dismissed out of hand.

Haney has spent much of that past few months in Kansas courts attempting to use the law to sabotage Orman’s chances against Roberts. State Democrats are largely falling in line behind the independent candidate in hopes that he will vote with Democrats in the Senate more often than Republicans.

Pieper was about to do a report on the need for school crossing guards when he said the words that will doubtless have a huge impact on his career.

“And Dave wants you to also mention that parents do their f—— jobs and walk their little kids to school on their own and not rely on everyone else. Kind of like people rely on government assistance for their entire lives. And bye Felicia. I actually added the part about government assistance but it’s true. I mean, how old are these kids?” Pieper said.

The ridiculous Amy Yensi laughed and said, “I think I qualify for government assistance.”

“Just check that box, girl,” Pieper said.

Yensi popped off with “EBT,” an acronym for Electronic Benefits Transfer cards.

The station issued a lame apology.

“As a result of a technical error during a program break this morning, a personal conversation between an anchor and a reporter was unintentionally placed on air,” the note read. “News 12 the Bronx deeply regrets that this incident took place. Best way not to get raped by cops is to ‘follow the law’

OK trooper tells local news: Best way not to get raped by cops is to ‘follow the law’

An Oklahoma Highway Patrol official reportedly told women that the best way not to get raped by an officer was to “follow the law.”

In recent months, an Oklahoma Highway Patrol officer and an Oklahoma City Police officer have been accused of repeatedly raping women, often during traffic stops.

After a Tulsa County sheriff’s deputy was arrested last week for sexually assaulting a woman while responding to a 911 call, Tulsa NBC News affiliate KJRH decided to ask the Oklahoma Highway Patrol how to stay safe during a traffic stop.

The department noted that troopers should always be in uniform, and that women were allowed to keep their car door locked, and to speak with officers through a cracked window. A trooper should rarely ask a person to come back to the patrol car, OHP advised.

“There are certain situations where we do that,” Capt. George Brown told KJRH. “If someone doesn’t have a driver’s license on their person. We asked for an ID or driver’s licence, if they can’t provide it, rather than stand outside the car writing [a ticket], which puts us in a bad location, we may ask a female back to the car so we can get her information.”

The KJRH anchor said that Brown concluded with this advice: “The captain says anything that happens inside a troopers car is videotaped, and he says that supervisors do review those tapes.”

“He says the best tip that he can give is to follow the law in the first place so you don’t get pulled over,” the anchor added.

Brown told KWTV that OHP was working to regain the public’s trust.

“There are entirely more good officers than there are the few bad apples that exist out there, and we want people to know that,” he explained. “We have a lot of good troopers, a lot of good officers out there doing a lot of good things daily, and we want to continue that and have the public continue their trust in us.”

Ferguson Police Chief: "Be respectfull" and "get off the streets prior to dark."

Seriously? It may not be racist but it is certainly insensitive. Its time to disarm the police. And put some of them in jail.

I had breakast with two local Teaparty officials who brought up a black only dinner .....

where he President (referred to as "Obama&quot admitted he was Kenyan and that reporters from Fox, CNN and the NYT were harassed into giving up recordings and notes about this surprising admission. They told me that it was on the National Report web site that when they went back to it the site was jammed and that when she tried the NYT site she couldn't get on, either.

I went home and searched National Report.

National Report
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
For the Colombian singles chart, see National-Report.

National Report (nationalreport.net) is a satirical website. It is published by Allen Montgomery.[1]

Among headline-generating spoofs are:

a report that Arizona's governor Jan Brewer intended to introduce mandatory gay-to-straight conversion courses into the state's public school system[2]
a report that fooled researchers at Fox News Channel, in which the President was purported to have announced his intention to spend his own money to keep a Muslim museum open during a government shutdown.[3]
a report that that a man in Hanna, Wyoming was the first recipient of a RFID chip which, the report claimed, was part of an Obamacare pilot program.[1]
a report published on November 2, 2013 claiming a fictitious Assam Rape Festival created a furor in Indian national and local media. Several newspapers and blogs reported the same.[4][5][6]
a report that an invasion of illegal immigrants forcibly took control of the small town of Sarita, Texas.[7]
a report published July 15th, 20014 claiming that Canadian pop star Justin Bieber would feature on a song on British rock band Radiohead's next album.[8]
a report published July 19th, 2014 claiming a secret service agent was ordered by Obama to spend $4,000 at a Denver, Colorado marijuana dispensary.[8]

Paul Horner

The character Paul Horner is used in various stories as a running gag.[9]

Hilarity will ensue when I get to point out they were snooked. Again.

Fox News Host Rips Michele Bachmann Apart For Being A ‘Silly’ Hypocrite (VIDEO)

Republican Congresswoman Michele Bachmann

<snip>

Now that we are fully aware Speaker Boehner and House Republicans are suing President Obama over his use of executive orders, we can commence the explosion that will occur in the GOPs face. And today it started on Fox News when anchor Neil Cavuto lambasted the representative from Minnesota on her wasted efforts to bring forth the lawsuit and argued that it would not go anywhere, that it was a waste of time, and it was a waste of resources while we have bigger and better fish to fry in the country. Bachmann wasn’t having it.

Cavuto made clear from the beginning that he thought of this lawsuit as nothing but “an enormous waste of effort” and “a political football.” He then made note that President George Bush used his authoritative action the same way President Obama has.

When Cavuto grilled Bachmann on why she and other House Republicans didn’t take up a lawsuit before and waited until now to do it, Bachmann responded just as you would expect her too: rolling her eyes and saying “Criminy” (no, really) and then blamed Speaker John Boehner for not doing it earlier. Cavuto’s response:

“Where was your rage when Democrats were going after President Bush on the same use of executive orders, because I think you knew then that that was a waste of time then and I think you know in your heart of hearts this is a waste of time now.”

<snip>

Then Bachmann made the mistake of saying we should “defund the executive branch” saying “cut it! Make it hurt! Because if they don’t have money, they won’t have power!” moments after stressing the importance of an equal three branch system. That’s when Cavuto really let her have his rage:

“Think about what you’re saying,” he shouted at the bewildered Congresswoman. “Defund the executive branch? Congresswoman! If Democrats had said to you, ‘we’re going to defund President Bush,’ you would have laughed at them and so you should have been.”

Then the host exploded when Bachmann tried to avert attention from executive authority to the phony IRS scandal. When that happened, Cavuto put his foot down, shouting “No! Now you’re just conflating issues and being silly!”

It’s actually hard to contain your laughter when Bachmann says “the American people are absolutely outraged.” Take note, Congresswoman: an extremist fraction of the Republican Party is not “the American People.” And being outraged over something they clearly don’t understand doesn’t constitute a real “outrage.”

What the hell is wrong with search engines?

I've used bing, google, duckduckgo, dogpile and they all do it.

Type in any variation of racist attacks on blacks, white on black violence and all that comes up is blog crap on racist black on white violence.

If one believes the search machines - there are NO racially motivated attacks on blacks, only whites.

What up with that?

Mentally ill prisoner died hooded, strapped to chair while guards chatted nearby, suit claims

The family of a mentally ill Colorado prison inmate who died while in custody has filed a lawsuit alleging guards stood around joking while failing to attend to his medical needs following a seizure caught on tape.

According to the lawsuit, at least 16 state prison staff members did nothing to help Christopher Lopez, 35, as he suffered seizures and died after being restrained in a chair, as documented in the video provided to 9News.

According to his family, Lopez, who had just been released from nine-and-a-half months in solitary confinement, suffered from bipolar schizoaffective disorder.

Two days after being released from solitary, he was discovered by jailers lying on the floor in his cell barely conscious. Instead of calling for medical assistance, the guards allegedly put Lopez in chains and placed a ‘spit hood’ over his head before strapping him into a chair.

While restrained by the chair, Lopez can be seen in the video having one or two grand mal seizures before slumping over. It is not clear if any staff saw the seizures as the video camera filming him appeared to be unmanned.

Prison staff eventually took Lopez out of the chair and placed him on his side on the ground, with one officer saying, “”Holler if anything changes,” and another replying, “Like, if he stops breathing?”

Hours later an on-call mental-health clinician speaks to Lopez through the food slot in his door, “What are you doing? Why are you doing this?”

She then adds “I can see you breathing.”

“Is he still on the floor?” asks one guard to which another replies, “Uh huh.”

Another guard can be heard to say “He likes it on the floor.”

The officers then stood by talking about Disneyland and Walmart before deciding to take Lopez out of his restraints.

At 9:24 a.m., approximately 18 minutes after the video showed Lopez taking his last meaningful breath, an officer says, “We need to check this guy’s pulse.”

Finding no pulse, prison medical staff attempted CPR to no avail.

A coroner report states that Lopez died of natural causes, likely the result of a sodium deficiency which the family believes may have been brought on by the psychotropic medications Lopez had been receiving.

The lawsuit, filed by the family states, “‘We have a ringside seat to watch Mr. Lopez suffer two grand mal seizures in front of the camera while the Defendants idly stand about and discuss their views about Wal-Mart and other equally important topics, laughing and joking with one another, all the while completely ignoring the dying man in their charge.”

According to Adrienne Jacobson, a spokesperson for the Department of Corrections, three staff members were fired and five more were reprimanded for their actions that day.

In 2007, Lopez was sentenced to a two-year prison sentence for trespassing, however while in prison he assaulted a corrections officer and an additional four years were tacked on to his sentence.

The lawsuit by the family seeks unspecified damages, but Lopez family attorney David Lane wants more answers.

“There has to be more than hand wringing and finger wagging when something like this happens,” he said. “His death was eminently preventable. All they had to do was get medical help for him, and they couldn’t be bothered.”

Lane added, “The Department of Corrections treated Christopher Lopez in a way that an animal should not be treated.”
