Racist Blocks Black Doctor From Entering Her Gated Community -- Then Calls the Cops on Her
Police state that the man, who was not identified, blocked her because there had been a series of air conditioner thefts in the community - which the homeowners association denied.

In a video posted online, a black doctor in Atlanta who attempted to enter the gated community where she has a home was blocked from entering by a man who called the police to have her arrested, reports 11 Alive.
According to Dr. Nnenna Aguocha, she had just come off a night shift and was attempting to pull into the Buckhead Townhome complex where she has lived for eight years when the man blocked her with his SUV in a confrontation that lasted 30 minutes.
In the video you can see the man's white car blocking the only way into the complex, with Aguocha approaching the man and pointing out where she lived as he muttered at her with his window rolled up.
"He got out of the car and threatened to call the police on me because I was trespassing," she said in the video, adding. "This is racial profiling at its finest."
According to the doctor, her antagonist called the police -- as did she, explaining: "He called the police, so I called the police as well."
Aguocha added that man said he didn't believe she lived in the complex and called her a trespasser -- saying it was an obvious case of racism.
"I absolutely think it was racially motivated," Aguocha explained. "When this altercation was going on, what went through my mind was this guy could do absolutely anything to me. He could shoot me dead on the spot because he was trying to protect the neighborhood and the property and people would make up stories later."

Wikileaks has published a list of US Immigration and Customs Enforcement employees, many also including their LinkedIn profiles.
The Russia-linked “independent journalism” operation which has often sowed discord in the United States had become a favorite of the right after intervening in the 2016 election by leaking stolen emails from Democratic presidential Candidate Hillary Clinton and others in her orbit.

But now that Wikileaks is doxxing law enforcement agents under fire for enacting a very controversial Trump administration policy, Trump’s fans are not happy.
“You’re endangering innocent peoples lives but you won’t let us know if Seth Rich who is already dead was killed by dems for leaking info to you?” writes one conspiracy-minded Trumpista.
Others called for Twitter to remove the list of government employees—which at least one person pointed out was public information and not a state secret, like so many other things Wikileaks publishes.

Samantha Bee said she figured out why The New York Times chose not to air the audio recording of their interview with White House senior adviser Stephen Miller on Tuesday.
“The answer is SHOCKING,” Bee’s “Full Frontal” Twitter account posted along with a video recording jokingly pretending to be Miller’s June 16 interview with Times reporters Julie Hirschfeld Davis and Michael Shear.
The paper of record sparked controversy Tuesday when it agreed not to air portions of Miller’s interview on the paper’s podcast “The Daily” after the White House said it was “not at all comfortable” with Miller’s voice being used on the show.

The Trump administration’s “zero tolerance” policy of breaking up families who have crossed the U.S./Mexico border illegally has resulted in an estimated 2,000 children forcibly separated from their parents and housed in detention.
In addition to a mounting protest over the policy and housing conditions, a host of local and national nonprofits have stepped in to try to reconnect separated families and to provide emergency legal aid and other badly needed services along the border. Here are some of those groups, and ways to volunteer, donate to the cause, and make your voice heard by elected officials.
Families Belong Together National Day of Action
Dozens of advocacy groups including MoveOn.org are organizing a nationwide day of action for Saturday, June 30. The main rally will take place in D.C.'s Lafayette Square; of the many satellite protests planned, Austin's will take place at the Texas State Capitol starting at noon.
ACLU
The ACLU wants you to call your senator. Their website locates the phone number for you and provides a script for urging elected officials to denounce the Trump administration's family separation policy.
American Gateways
This Central Texas nonprofit provides legal services for asylum seekers. They are seeking both attorney volunteers and non-attorney volunteers, as well as donations.
Asylum Seeker Advocacy Project
ASAP is asking for donations for emergency legal services to refugee families.
The Austin Bar Association Civil Right and Immigration Section
The Austin Bar Civil Rights and Immigration Section is hosting a training session for attorneys to help families separated upon entering the United States. The session is full, but Spanish-speaking attorneys who wish to attend can be put on the waitlist.
CARA Family Detention Project
The CARA Project – a joint effort of Catholic Legal Immigration Network, the American Immigration Council, the Refugee and Immigrant Center for Education and Legal Services, and the American Immigration Lawyers Association – is looking for volunteer attorneys, law students, and paralegals with interest and experience in asylum work. Volunteers should be either fluent in Spanish or collaborating with an interpreter.
Catholic Charities of the Rio Grande Valley
The Catholic Charities of the Rio Grande Valley is sheltering families who have recently been released from border patrol custody. They are taking volunteers and donations.

This national United Methodist immigrant ministry provides legal services to immigrants, refugees, and asylum chapters, and has several Texas chapters.
Neta
Neta, a bilingual multimedia platform based in the Rio Grande Valley along the Texas-Mexico border, is taking online signups for residents who are able to visit the ports of entry to take supplies or verify if there are asylum seekers who need help. They are also taking money donations, which will go toward supplies, such as diapers, underwear, bras, baby wipes, sandals, non-perishable food items, deodorant, hygienic supplies, and water.
RAICES
Via the LEAF Project, RAICES (Refugee and Immigrant Center for Education and Legal Services) is taking donations to provide universal representation for released unaccompanied kids in Texas.
RAICES is also accepting donations to support legal services for detained separated parents and for bonds to get parents released.
Safe Passage Project
Safe Passage Project is accepting donations to provide lawyers and part-time paralegals for underrepresented children. They are also seeking pro bono attorneys and other volunteers.
South Texas Pro Bono Asylum Representation Project
The project provides pro bono legal services to asylum seekers detained in South Texas. They’re seeking volunteers.
Texas Civil Rights Project
The Texas Civil Rights Project is looking for volunteers who speak Spanish, Mam, Q’eqchi’ or K’iche’ and have paralegal or legal assistant experience. They are also taking money donations.
The Young Center for Immigrant Children’s Rights
The Young Center for Immigrant Children’s Rights is assigning child advocates to kids whose parents have been deported, and they are taking donations.

The comedian Roseanne Barr resurrected one of the oldest and most profoundly racist slanders in American history when she referred to Valerie Jarrett, an African-American woman who served as an adviser to President Barack Obama, as the offspring of an ape.
This depiction — promoted by slave traders, historians and practitioners of “scientific” racism — was used to justify slavery, lynching and the creation of the Jim Crow state. It made the leap to the silver screen in deeply noxious films like “The Birth of a Nation” and haunted American popular culture well into the 20th century.

That message comes through powerfully in research by several social scientists, but particularly in the work of the Stanford University psychologist Jennifer Eberhardt and Phillip Atiba Goff, president of the Center for Policing Equity at John Jay College in New York. In six studies published with collaborators a decade ago, Mr. Goff and Ms. Eberhardt found that even younger study participants who were born since the civil rights revolution and claimed to know nothing of the ape caricature of blackness were swayed by it when making judgments about black people. In one study, white male undergraduates who were subliminally exposed to words associated with apes — for example, “chimp” or “gorilla” — were more likely to condone the beating of those in police custody when they thought that the suspect was black.

This process of dehumanization often leads Americans to view African-American men as larger and more fearsome than they are. This pattern of misperception is troubling. Police officers are often exonerated for killing civilians on the premise that they fired their weapons out of fear for their lives. This issue famously came up in the 2014 killing of Dontre Hamilton, an unarmed black man in Milwaukee who was shot 14 times by Officer Christopher Manney. Officer Manney later portrayed Mr. Hamilton as hulking and muscular, saying he feared being “overpowered.” An autopsy showed that Mr. Hamilton was actually of modest build — 5 feet, 7 inches tall and 169 pounds.
The tragedy of 12-year-old Tamir Rice, who was killed by a Cleveland police officer in 2014 while playing with a toy gun, fits this pattern. An officer at the scene described him as being 20 years old. Black children are often seen as significantly older and more menacing than they actually are. And, research suggests, the automatic presumption of threat provoked by a black face applies even the when the face belongs to a 5-year-old child.
Mr. Goff and his colleagues published a striking set of studies the year Tamir was killed. They found that when a group of mainly white college students were shown photographs of white, black and Latino boys, they overestimated the ages of black boys ages 10 to 17 by an average of 4.5 years. In other words, they perceived 13-year-old boys as adult men — and viewed black children as more culpable for crimes.

Albert Einstein’s activities as a passionate advocate for peace were well-documented during his lifetime. His celebrity as a famous physicist and one of the world’s most recognizable faces lent a great deal of weight to his pacifism, a view otherwise not given much consideration in the popular press at almost any time in history. However, according to a 2006 book titled Einstein on Race and Racism by Fred Jerome and Roger Taylor, the scientist was also as passionate about combating racism and segregation as he was about combating war. This facet of Einstein’s life was virtually ignored by the media, as was a visit he made in 1946 to Lincoln University in Pennsylvania, the first degree-granting college for African-Americans and the alma mater of Langston Hughes and Thurgood Marshall.
Invited to Lincoln to receive an honorary degree, Einstein gave a lecture on physics but also bluntly addressed the racial animus that held the country in its grip, reportedly calling racism, “a disease of white people” and saying he “did not intend to be quiet” about his opposition to segregation and racist public policy. Lest anyone think the Nobel-prize-winning physicist was pandering to his audience, the Harvard Gazette offers a comprehensive summary of Einstein’s support of progressive anti-racist causes, including his personal support of members of Princeton’s black community (he paid one man’s college tuition), a town Princeton native Paul Robeson once called “the northernmost town in the south.”
Einstein formed relationships with several prominent black leaders—inviting opera singer Marian Anderson to stay in his home after she was refused a room at the Nassau Inn and appearing as a character witness for W.E.B. Dubois when the latter stood accused of “failing to register as a foreign agent.” But it was his 20-year friendship with Robeson that seems central to his involvement in civil rights causes. The Harvard Gazette writes:
Einstein met Paul Robeson when the famous singer and actor came to perform at Princeton’s McCarter Theatre in 1935. The two found they had much in common. Both were concerned about the rise of fascism, and both gave their support to efforts to defend the democratically elected government of Spain against the fascist forces of Francisco Franco. Einstein and Robeson also worked together on the American Crusade to End Lynching, in response to an upsurge in racial murders as black soldiers returned home in the aftermath of World War II.
At the time of the Gazette article, 2007, a movie about Einstein and Robeson’s friendship was apparently in the works, with Danny Glover as Robeson and Ben Kingsley as Einstein. The project is apparently stalled, but with the upsurge in popular interest in the history of civil rights—with the overturning of the Voting Rights Act and the widespread coverage of the 50th anniversary of the March on Washington—perhaps the project will see new life soon. I certainly hope so.
